Today we're going to be taking a look at part number MCL52AB. This is the Optronics Sealed 2" Round LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light. The PV rated light is going to combine clearance and side marker functions. It's going to produce a 90 degree angle of light left and right when mounted at a 45 degree angle. This is a LED system. LED's are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights.

You don't have to worry about replacing the bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. LED's are going to last longer, they're going to burn brighter, and they're going to be much more efficient than incandescent lights. It's also going to feature a sealed waterproof lens and housing unit. It's going to have the flange mount design. It's going to have 3 holes here on the flange.

If we take a measurement to the distance that we have between those holes, measuring center on center it's going to be 2-1/4". That's going to be the same distance between each set of holes around the flange. Here on the back side it exposes a 2 prong connection. This is going to accept the industry standard 2 prong plug that is required, it is sold separately. The light itself is going to contain 5 amber LED's. The overall diameter measuring from edge to edge is going to give us a measurement of about 2-15/16".

The actual light's going to give us a diameter of about 1-7/8". The thickness, or the depth, that's going to give us a measurement pretty close to 1". Then from the flange to the end of the light, the outermost part of the lens, it's going to measure about 3/8". The LED light is going to draw 0.141 amps at 12.8 volts. It's designed to fit inside of a 2-1/4" diameter hole.

It is Department of Transportation compliant, and Optronics is going to put a lifetime warranty on the LED's. Let's go ahead and hook it up to our external power source so that way you can see what it looks like with power running to it. Simply just take our 2 prong plug, place it back here in the connection points. Push it in until we get it seated correctly. As you can see, this sends out a really nice, consistent signal. Again, it's going to have 5 diodes, or 5 LED's. One right here, one right here, 2 on this side, and then 1 directly in the middle. It sends out a nice, consistent, bright light. Again, it's an amber light, so it's got the amber lens on it. Multi-diode design really optimizes the light output for a clear, consistent, bright signal.
