The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
This light has a weathertight connection as pictured above (weathertight plug sold separately). This type of connection is designed to help block out moisture.

Today we are going to be taking a look at the Optronics LED trailer light. This is a round trailer light that is going to serve three functions, such as your stop light, tail light, and turn signal light. It features a sonically sealed waterproof housing and lens unit that is submersible. It's going to contain LEDs. LEDs are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last much longer, they are much more efficient, and you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. When it comes to the construction, we are looking at a polycarbonate lens and housing.
The lens is red in color. It's also going to be a recessed mount installation. It's got that built-in black flange with three mount holes on it. Hardware is not included. The plug point back here, the connection point, is going to be a weathertight connection point on the back of the light that does require an adapter, Part Number AL45PWTB.
That is sold separately, but that is required in order for this unit to work with an industry standard three-prong plug. The unit is Department of Transportation compliant. It meets FMVSS 108 and CMVSS 108 requirements for automotive lighting. There are a few measurements to go over with you real quick. Taking a look at the diameter of the light face, just that lens portion, it's going to give us a 4 inch measurement, including the flange, and that is going to give us a diameter of 5-1/2 inches, and then the distance that we have between our mount holes, that is going to measure 4-1/4 inches from the center of one to the center of the other, and it's going to be the same for that third point as well. Now this is going to contain ten diodes or ten LEDs. When it comes to the depth of the light, including the plug at the back, we are looking at a measurement that is going to give us a measurement that looks to be about 1-7/16 inch deep, and that is from the very front to the back of the plug. The power draw for the stop and turn signal is 0.413 amps at 12.8 volts, and for the tail lights, it's 0.026 amps at 12.8 volts, and Optronics is going to put a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. We are going to go ahead and hook it up to our external power source so you can see what it looks like with power going to it.
We are going to take our weathertight plug, place it into the connection here at the back of the housing, and push it in until it snaps into place. We are going to turn off our overhead lights. Here you can see this is going to be your tail light function. When we apply our brakes, you can see how that illuminates for a stronger signal output, and when we apply our turn signals, it's going to do that same thing. Again, it's going to contain ten diodes, so the multi-diode design is really going to help optimize our light output. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics LED trailer tail light..

Weathertight connection requires weathertight plug.Nothing like ordering a product, waiting for it to arrive, only to discover it's useless without another part that's sold separately. You cannot wire this without an additional pigtail. This is the second time I've received a product from etrailer that required something else to be bought separately....

I can't believe how thin and cheap this plastic junk is, for the price I thought they would be professional grade. They don't even include the plug that is required to install them.
Light has worked great as expected! No issues and was direct replacement for original light.
Just what I needed to replace the old lights on my tow dolly. I had to make the holes slightly bigger to fit the unit in, but I’m hoping I won’t have to replace them again for a long time.

Easy ordering and fast delivery. Only thing I will add is that the wiring connection on the back was different than mine and I had to order the connector harness that plugs into this new light and the old connection on my trailer. I don’t think this was mentioned in the product info. All is good! Thanks
No gasket with light. The white lights I ordered had new gaskets. Had to use old gasket

Perfect fit but connector has changed and you need to purchase Item # AL45PWTB to eliminate need to cut and splice factory wiring.

You are correct, this LED Trailer Tail Light requires a pigtail to wire it in. Part # AL45PWTB to fit industry standard 3 prong plugs or part # A45PMB for the hardwire version.
