Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Replacement Hub and Bearings for Fish Right River Master Jet Boat Trailer With Dexter 8-248 Hubs
Thanks to the information and picture you provided I can definitely help. The replacement for your Dexter 8-248 is the # 84545BX. If you want a pre-greased option you can use the # 84545UC1-EZ. If you don't care about it being from Dexter the # AKIHUB-545-35-G-K you were looking at will also work. These all fit a standard 3,500 lb axle with # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearings.

  • Replacement Hub Recommendation for Tracker Trail Star Trailer
Thanks for getting me all the info needed to pick out a hub! Based on what you listed the correct hub you need for a replacement is the part # 84545BX. This uses the same bearings as what you have and has a matching bolt pattern.

  • Replacement Trailer Hub Assembly for Dexter 8-248 Hubs
The Dexter "8-248" is a hub assembly for 3,500 lb axles that uses an L68149 inner bearing and a L44649 outer bearing. This hub assembly was offered in both 5 on 4-1/2" and 5 on 4-3/4" bolt patterns therefore you would need to confirm your bolt pattern in order to choose the correct hub. I have attached a help article to help you find this as well. I have also attached my recommendations on each hub for you below. Dexter: 5 on 4-1/2" - part # 84545BX 5 on 4-3/4" - part # 845475UC1

  • How to Determine Hub and Spindle Size
The spindle dimensions are as follows: A is the mounting dimension, B is the seal dimension, C is the inner bearing surface, D is the outer bearing surface and E is the diameter of the threaded portion of the spindle for spindle nut selection. Say you need a spindle and hub for a wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern and an axle that is 3500 lbs. For a single axle trailer you can use two of either the item # TRU64FR, if your axle is round or item # TRU47FR if your axle is square. Then...

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Hubs for a Boat Trailer
In order to pick out the correct hub assembly for a trailer you are going to need know a few key pieces of information. The first thing you will need to know is the bolt pattern of your hubs. Since the figure you came up with doesn't match any of the 5-bolt bolt patterns I am going to need to to recheck your bolt pattern. For further info on this check out the FAQ article I attached on this. Next thing you will need to know is what spindle you have on your trailer. In order to do that...

Sounds like you are asking about the wheel bolt pattern of the Dexter trailer hub part # 84545BX. This has a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inch which is the most common 5 bolt pattern for trailer wheels. I attached a picture and link for more info on bolt patterns for you to check out as well.

  • How to Determine the Correct Hub for My MacGregor Sailboat Trailer
Determining the correct wheel bearings, seals or hubs for a trailer is normally done by using the existing inner and outer wheel bearing part numbers and grease seal part number. This is the only way to be sure that the correct parts are ordered. The bearing part numbers will ensure that you get the proper size and weight capacity parts for your application. When replacing the hub you will also need to be sure that you measure the wheel bolt pattern (see link) and, if the axle capacity...

I would be happy to help you find the correct replacement hub, but unfortunately we do not have a breakdown of the specific components your trailer uses so you will need to confirm your bearing combination. Trailer axles like the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 4" Lift Spindle - Regular Tires - 3,500 lbs # ASR3500S06 you were looking at are designed to work with trailer wheels that have 0 offset, so you will want to make sure the wheel you use has 0 offset. • Looking For Replacement Idler Hub For Old Farm Trailer
Hey Steve, thanks for reaching out. We currently offer only one hub that uses the # LM67048 outer bearing and # L68149 inner bearing, and that is the Dexter # 8-407-5UC3-EZ which is a hub and drum assembly. It has the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern which is standard. We do not offer a non-braking hub that uses this bearing combination so the only way to use this hub would be if you installed brakes. A lot of older trailers use spindle sizes or bearing combinations that are not standard anymore...

From what I could find out about the Super Lube Spindles, they will be much the same as the Dexter EZ-Lube style spindles, like the # TRU74FR. This will include a zerk/grease fitting on the end that allows a grease gun to attach to. With that being said, I recommend going with the etrailer.com Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. • Dexter Hub Vs. Kodiak Hub Comparison
I would go with the Dexter part # 84545BX as Dexter has an excellent reputation and because the brackets where the wheel studs mount on this hub are thicker and tend to be less likely to crack when compared to other hubs that use thinner material there like the part # Q-HUB84545. I attached review videos for both hubs for you to check out as well.

  • Replacement Axle for Lippert 5200 that is 86.5 inches Long
From your axle tag I can tell you have a 5,200 lb trailer axle that has 86.5 inches from hub face to hub face, 68.5 inches from spring seat center to spring seat center and comes with hubs that have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. While we have axles like the part # 8327816-EB that are the right length, capacity, and come with correct bolt pattern hubs the spring seats aren't lined up perfectly so they would need to be moved. You could just have new spring seats welded on with part # TRSS300.

Technically yes, if you were replacing idler hubs, as long as the inner/outer bearing, grease seal AND wheel bolt pattern match, there's nothing that prevents you from using a 3,500 lb axle hub, like # 84545BX on a 2,000 lb axle.
