Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

These Dexter trailer hub and drum assemblies fit perfectly, just like the OEM one's I am replacing. Original brakes lasted over 10 years and 26K miles (with life still left on the brake shoes)!

by:

The product from etrailer was easy to order, came on a timely basis and fit perfectly. I happily will use etrailer again for my future needs.

by:

Promptly shipped and received. Minor problem, the bearings, nuts, dust cover and seal were all just thrown loose in the box with the hub resulting in the seal being bent and unuseable. No big deal. Otherwise great service.

Got exactly what I ordered. Great quality. After I installed them (online videos were a great help), they work perfect. Definitely a good experience to order the right part and received them in a timely matter.

Everything came in as promised. Had a bearing that was smashed during shippment. Looked like hub hit it. Called for replacement and it was shipped same day. Excellent customer service. This is the 2nd time I have ordered from etrailer and it will not be my last. Thanks

by:

etrailer was awesome. My new drums arrived faster than expected and was exactly what I needed. I haven’t installed them yet but are identical to what I am replacing.
Thanks etrailer.

what drum and hub assy do i need to convert my house tralier axles to use regular tires and wheels? im having trouble finding tires for them. bearing, outside 1.25, inside 1.75, 2 brake drum, 5 or 6 holes wheel.

Most mobile home axles are built with an odd sized spindle that do not have any available hubs with a traditional trailer wheel bolt pattern. The only want to be sure is to either get the bearing numbers off the old bearings or to measure the spindle diameters with a dial or digital caliper, at least to the 1/100th. Bearing numbers is by far the easiest. Check out the link to the spindle below. There is a diagram that shows the measurements that you will need to take in order to positively determine whether or not a hub is available.

  • Replacement Hubs and Drums and Brakes for Lippert 6,000 Pound Trailer Axles
Since you have 6K Lippert axles with an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern for the wheels and hubs I assume that the inner bearing is 25580 and the outer is 14125A. It would be worth checking just to be sure. If you have regular axles with no grease fittings at each end then you can use # 8-219-4UC3. If you do have EZ Lube axles with the grease fittings use # 8-219-4UC3-EZ. For either hub and drum assembly you can use right hand side brake assembly # AKEBRK-7R-SA and left hand side # AKEBRK-7L-SA.

  • What Trailer Hub Fits Outer Bearing # 14125A
The bearing number you referenced, # 14125A, is an outer bearing that will fit a number of different hub assemblies. Those compatible hub part numbers are # 42866UC3, # 8-219-4UC3 and # 8-231-9UC1-EZ. We also offer the matching race for this bearing, which is part # 14276. The inner diameter of this bearing is 1.250 inches. I have linked an article and several videos on hubs and bearings that may be helpful to you.

  • Proper Way to Tighten Trailer Spindle of Castle Nut
After you've packed the bearings and assembled everything, carefully slide the hub assembly onto the spindle and install the outer bearing. Install the spindle and tang washer and run the spindle nut down finger tight, then rotate the hub back and forth then rock the hub side to side to make sure everything is seated properly. This will have had provided more room on the spindle, so run down the spindle nut with your fingers a bit more. The hub should spin freely, with a bit of brake lining...

  • Wet Trailer Suspension Bolt for Tandem Axle 5th Wheel Trailer
Yes! You are looking for what is called a wet bolt. We have different ones available depending on what you need. For a 9/16 inch wet bolt that is 3-5/16 inches long use # 126B2. This is the most common size and is likely what you will need. But I have also linked all of the suspension bolts (some are wet bolts and some are not) so you can see all the options.

  • How to Determine Correct Hub Replacement For Hubs With 25580 and 14125A Bearings
Thanks for that information, and I can tell you that the 1.750 bearing is # 25580 and the 1.250 bearing is most likely # 14125A. While that is most of the information needed, you also need to know your axle capacity as well as the grease seal, or it's inner diameter. If you don't have this you can measure the spindle where the seal rides to find out. The most likely hubs for you are the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles # 42866UC3-EZ or the Dexter...

If your existing drive in studs are 2-3/4 inches long (measurement B in picture) you will need the Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Studs, item # RG03-080.
