Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes BRKH12 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the mounting bolts and the hardware for 12 inch brake assemblies. Now this hardware will allow you to install two trailer brake assemblies to the five bolt brake mounting flange on your trailer axle. This hardware is designed to fit 12 inch brake assemblies that do not have the pre-installed mounting bolts. It will work with either electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything laid out here on the table. It includes 10 of the one and a quarter inch long by three eighths inch diameter mounting bolts. and the head size on that is a nine sixteenth. Heres a nine sixteenth socket, you can see it fits perfectly.

Also comes with 10 of the three eighths inch by 24 size nuts, and they are the same size, nine sixteenth, and also the 10 lock washers. But that should do it for the review on the mounting bolts and the hardware for 12 inch brake assemblies.

I was initially concerned about finding the right parts as the trailer was fairly old. etrailer had just what I needed. The website is so elegant. I was able to find the right parts quickly and with comparative options to make a final selection. The how-to videos are great. This made installation a little more comfortable. Especially when you do not perform this type of work every day. The parts were of high quality and are working as expected. I highly recommend etrailer for any of your trailer needs. 545356

Got these just in case the old hardware off my brakes were froze up. I ended up only having to cut two of the bolts off of the four brakes I replaced and didn't need all these. Still they fit fine and did save me time from having be run to the store. Also they were easier getting started than the old hardware would have been. 572786

Product arrived on time and was just what I ordered. Installed complete brake sets on two axles in about a hour and a half no issues. Will use etrailer for all of my future trailer part purchases. 485352

by:

I ordered 4 non-self adjusting brake sets and recieved 2 self adjusting right sides and 2 non-self adjusting left sides. I needed the project to be complete and I installed them. When i tok the out of the boxs, there was some rebuilding as things were out of alignment from shipping. Initial adjustments on both sets was a little more time consuming because of the lack of large adjustments, but once set they are great. The electrical hook ups were easy. They stop my 5000+lb camp trailer just fine. Finally, hardware being purchased separately is annoying. They should be packaged together and the hardware should be free with purchase of the brake sets. 483985

  • Recommended Brake Assembly Backing Plate Bolt Installation
The attachment bolts for a 5-bolt brake assembly should be torqued to 30-50 foot/lbs. This will ensure your brake assembly # AKEBRK-7-SA is secured correctly. If you don't have a torque wrench, I recommend the Powerbuilt Dual Drive Torque Wrench - 3/8" and 1/2" - 10 to 150 ft-lb # ALL944001.

  • How to Measure to Confirm Compatibility of Replacement Trailer Brakes
Dexter Electric Drum Brake set # 23-105-106 is a left/right pair of 12 x 2-inch brakes that mount with 5 bolts. These brakes are intended for axles with a 6K weight rating. You'd need one kit per axle. These brakes can use mounting kit # BRKH12; use one kit for each set of brakes. To ensure compatibility you'll want to measure your hubs to confirm their size (see photo please) and check the mounting bolt pattern on your brakes flanges to make sure it too matches. If you can find a sticker...

  • Electric Brake Assemblies For Dexter 6000 lb Axles With 12x2 Inch Drums
The brakes you are looking for are a standard size, so rather than getting the shoes and magnets for your older design, I recommend upgrading your system. I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA. These are really well made assemblies. The brake pad material is actually cut instead of scored and broken like other assemblies, so you get a better quality pad. If you want the current Dexter assembly...

  • How to Find Correct Replacement Hub for 7,000 lb Axle
In order to find the correct replacement hubs for your 2016 Keystone Raptor, since you already know the weight rating of your axle, you need to know what bearings your current hub has. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you get back to me with that information I'd be happy to try and find the correct hub for you. If you are unable to...
