Box had a couple holes in it but product was undamaged. Very easy to install by myself with the help of my floor jack. For my 21 Crosstrek you do not need to remove the 6 frame plugs just 4 of them. Also I have a Nameless axle back exhaust which it will fit but you either have to buy longer exhaust hangers or cut and shorten the ones you have.
This is a very well made hitch receiver, very solid and looks great on my 2023 Crosstrek! Installation is just as described in video provided. I bought a 1-1/8” step up drill that worked great to enlarge one hole in each side. As mentioned in other reviews this is a 2 person job and you need to have the car up on blocks.

Installation went well. Some previous year installation reviews mentioned having to undo the muffler bracket but that was NOT the case for my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. It slid right into place without an issue. I liked the bolt fish wires. I was able to install the hitch receiver by myself using 2 jack stands to prop the receiver as the bolts were tightened. I have a Dremmel tool and using a cut disk, kind of like a grinder, I was able to enlarge the hole to feed the back stops through in a matter of a few minutes. This went a lot faster than it could have using a grinder or file.
Installed on a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. Perfect fit. Also installed the wiring harness I purchased from etrailer. I found a factory hole in the spare tire area which I ran the wiring through. Everything looks clean.
Easy enough to install. Instructions were okay but the video on website was better for a first timer to install this. I did use a 1 1/8 drill bit for the 2 front holes and Rust-Oleum Enamel spray to hopefully stop it from ever rusting on me. Have yet used the hitch but feels good quality and sturdy after I torqued the bolts to 110lbs as instructed.
This is my 2nd trailer hitch from etrailer and I am so happy with it. Instructions were very clear in the video tutorial which was extremely helpful. I didn’t have a cone but nor did I want to spend $50-100 on one so I busted out my Dremel with a coarse red grinder on it and it took me less than 5-7 mins to widen the holes in the frame. I used this hitch for my 2021 Crosstrek Sport. I haven’t used it for anything yet but the hitch looks and feels very sturdy, and it fits one of my hitch racks perfectly. I’m very happy and would highly recommend.
Great hitch! Sturdy and strong. The design of the hitch makes it mostly hidden and the matte finish matches my 2018 Crosstrek better than other hitches with a glossy finish. Great customer service and quick shipping as well!
The finish feels and looks pretty solid. I will be installing it on my Crosstrek ASAP. I’m really only using it for transporting my bikes but I’m sure I’ll be buying a cargo rack as well. Definitely a good investment for a great price.

I ended up totaling my car and the hitch held up! Haha Before hand it had helped a ton and had no issues with it at all.
After doing a lot of research into and reading a number of reviews, I decided to give this hitch a try on my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek plugin hybrid. I am a backyard DIY guy and have a fair set of tools but even so I was initially concerned about the clearance space under the car and also if I had the right tools on hand. The YouTube installation video provided on this site was spot on and a big help. While I don't think I needed it, I purchased a tool to assist with the removal of the exhaust system rubber hangers. It did make it easier though. I had two drive on ramps for the car so that I could get and work under the vehicle more easily. Given all of that, with the assistance of my daughter, we installed this really quiet easily in around 2 hours. Note that everything was well packed in shipping, all parts were there, and basically it went together exactly as the video showed.
We have used this a number of times for our 2 bike carrying rack. It's solid for sure and after one year has held up just fine without any apparent ware. So, I'm a happy user at this point.

After a year, the hitch is still on our car and works a good as the first time we used it. I havent noticed any wear or changes to it. Its just solid. I would recommend this to anyone needing this for their Crosstrek
Was able to install without lowering exhaust, on 2023 crosstrek sport. Front bolts are almost too short because of a metal joint in the frame. Three bolts just dropped in and the last took over an hour of finessing. Story of my life. Looks good, cross member is hidden behind bumper.

Great, I installed myself. Easy
Installed it the same day it arrived. Followed the instructional video for the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Wasn't able to install it myself like one of the reviewers said he was able to do. Heavier than I thought. Had to get my son-in-law to help me lift it into place and bolt it up. But, we got it installed. And, it fit my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Limited perfectly.

I installed this trailer hitch on a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. The install was pretty straightforward and not too complicated. It didn’t require removing any major components of the vehicle. Everything but the receiver is tucked up under the bumper and can’t be seen without climbing under and looking for it, so it looks great. This receiver is what I’d expect if it came from the factory on the car in quality and appearance.
I installed my etrailer hitch on my 2021 Subaru Cross Trek and found it to be pretty smooth installation. I watched the install video a few times to really understand the steps. I ended up installing on my own and I would strongly recommend another set of hands. My install time was longer due to it just being me. The fish wires, rack and hardware are all incredibly rugged. Everything went together just as described. My only wish is that the bolts that are at the front with the spacer could be about a 1/2" longer. This would help with the clearance and being able to more easily thread the nut on. I'm not sure if the internal frame rails can accept a longer bolt to fish so that may be why the shorter bolts are used. I would absolutely buy this rack again for another vehicle. I will also buy with etrailer as often as I can. I just ordered a new Kurt rack to go with my new hitch.
Just installed this on a 2023 Crosstrek. Opened the mounting holes by making a small cut with a round file. Easy install with a second set of hands to hold the hitch while the nuts get screwed on.

Perfect for 2022 Subaru Crosstrek! This hitch is a great price and tucks in really nicely under the rear bumper. I did the installation myself without any problems, I backed the rear up onto ramps to give me a little more room and also used a Dremel tool to enlarge one of the frame holes on either side.
So far I've towed my fiberglass camper 400 miles, super happy with this hitch!
Installation was not fun, but not terribly difficult. I installed without ramps or jackstands and I really should have used them. Anyways the hitch has been working great and it is very low profile. I am only using it for a bike rack so it hasn't done anything heavy duty, but it's just as solid today as it was a year ago

I have used this hitch for a year just to attach a bike rack ny for towning. It was a pain to install myself, but I did it. Now after a year the hitch is just as solid as day 1. Its not super low profile or anything, but thats fine. Would definitely buy again.
Another great product etrailer. This is my third purchase from etrailer, and as always the product shipped quickly and was a direct fit. I order directly through one of the reps, Mike B who is fantastic.
Installation took me 1.5 hours in the driveway on ramps. 2023 Subaru Crosstrek.
Quality product and straight forward installation. Watching the videos ahead of time was a big help.
As usual shipping was very fast. never disappointed with etrailer products and service!!
Overall it is a nice hitch and the install videos are very helpful.
The bolts could have been a bit longer, as it was a bit difficult to get the threads on the ones that had to pass throughout the spacers.

A strong and simple design for the 2023 Crosstrek. I owned a 2015 Crosstrek that had a pop-out incorporated in the bumper moulding for the receiver. Subaru eliminated the pop-out on newer models. So, on this hitch, I intend to flip the receiver to raise the hitch for better clearance. I plan to cut out a square hole and minor modifications for a clean look.
Quick and easy online ordering.
The installation video helps. Don’t try filing to enlarge the access point. I went and got a $[XX] grinding bit, worked well. Having a helper would be good. If I had videoed, it would have been funny, holding it in place with an arm and a foot and trying to thread the nut.
Great instructions and product quality. Installed on a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 2.0.

Really good quality, but shipping speed was incredible. Arrived a few days before I expected the hitch.
Installation was not easy, but not overly difficult. Definitely a two person job.

but needs to be redesigned. It needlessly hangs one inch lower Thant the bumper decreasing the departure angle of the car
