Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

2012 ToyotaHighlander

Could not have been easier to put on. I had someone help me, and with the two of us, it couldn't have taken more than 20 minutes to get the hitch on my 2012 Highlander. I had none of the splash panels to remove or trim, which certainly simplified things, but this was really ridiculously easy.

by:

Nice, heavy-duty hitch. A bit awkard to install solo, but doable. Definitely put the passager side on first. One complaint: the driver side underguard can be re-installed, but the cut/trim diagram sent with the instructions is wrong. If I had the chance to do over, I'd measure the cut myself and not use this "template."

by:

This hitch was so incredibly easy to install. My neighbor who's a total car nut gave me a hand lifting it into place. From the time I took the factory tow hooks and plastic panels off from behind the wheels, to the final torque tightening of the hitch bolts was probably a total of 20 minutes.... and Im far from a car mechanic. My neighbor couldnt believe how quickly it went in. Honestly I didnt even have to drop the muffler even though the instructions said to.It might have taken me another 10 - 15 minutes to trim and re-install the plastic panels back into place. This installation was super easy and the hitch is super strong... I'm very very impressed !!! Not to mention that I got it three days after I ordered it !!

by:

Easy install. Same as u-haul trailer

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for a 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Hey Travis. The trailer wiring for the 2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is the same as the standard Highlander. The difference in which harness to choose will be impacted by whether or not you have the tow package. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness item # 118449 you were looking at fits all models of the 2013 Toyota Highlander without the tow package. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs in underneath the spare tire compartment. The only difference is that with the hybrid model, the harness...

Hey Dan. The etrailer Hitch item # e98858 will indeed work with your full sized spare tire. This hitch is custom fit for your 2008 Toyota Highlander. It is a class III hitch, with a 2" receiver, it has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity, and a 750 lbs maximum tongue weight. What are you planning on using a hitch for?

  • How To Restore A Rusty Trailer Hitch Receiver On Your Vehicle
Hey Mark, You'll just want to clean off any excess rust with a wire brush and then use some automotive grade spray paint to touch up the hitch. Since you have the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98858 you'll want to get a matte black paint to match its gloss style. Every now and then hitches get dinged up in transit from the manufacturer so I'll touch it up before installing it. On ones where it's already installed I'll use a large piece of cardboard to prevent overspray from getting...

  • Does etrailer Trailer Hitch For 2013 Toyota Highlander Allow Full Size Spare to Stay
Yes, your full-size 19 inch spare tire will be able to remain in place, and the etrailer hitch will indeed fit your 2013 Toyota Highlander with that size spare. The correct part number for your Highlander is the following: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98858 I have added a photo for you of the # e98858 installed on a '13 Highlander with a full-size spare (your wheel may look a bit different depending on model though), so you can see that it does stay on. I would be happy to help you set up your 2013 Toyota Highlander for towing. I will start by confirming that the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver item # e98858 does fit your Highlander. Since you do not have any vehicle connectors at the rear of your Highlander you will need both item # HM11141845 and item # ETBC7 to add a 7-way connector. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack on a 2013 Toyota Highlander
I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98858 for a bike rack on your 2013 Toyota Highlander. This is rated as the same difficulty as pretty much all of the other hitches that fit your Highlander and the biggest benefit to this hitch is the matte black finish that not only looks great but it also hides dings and scratches from road debris a lot better than the classic glossy finish of the other hitches. This will take a professional about 45 minutes and a novice about...

Yes, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98858 will fit your 2008 Highlander Hybrid. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. It also has a matte black powder coat finish and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. If you plan on towing you will also need wiring. If you have the factory tow package you need the # 118449 and if you don't have the factory tow package the # 56042. Both plug into the connection point in your rear cargo area. Once installed,...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Hitch for 2009 Toyota Highlander Where Holes Don't Line Up
Looks like the hitch # e98858 you ordered was bent in shipping. This is unfortunately more common than we'd prefer but what you can do is bend the flange out to so that the holes line up. As long as there's no creasing or paint flaking the integrity of the hitch will be fine.

  • Determining if 2009 Toyota Highlander Has Tow Package
You'd need to track down the window sticker your Highlander came with or give your VIN to a Toyota dealer and they'd be able to find out for sure. For a hitch the part # e98858 would work great and has enough capacity. Then for trailer wiring the # 56042 would be correct for if the tow package was present.

  • Best Bike Rack to Avoid Spoiler Damage on a 2013 Toyota Highlander
You can definitely use a trunk mount option like the 2-Bike # Y02634 or 3-Bike Y02633 Yakima FullBack, but if you leave these installed for long periods of time they can eventually cause damage to your 2013 Toyota Highlander so I recommend installing a trailer hitch and using a hitch mounted bike rack instead: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98858 - Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR This setup keeps the bikes and bike rack from making any contact with your vehicle...
