Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Subaru Forester

Today on our 2019 Subaru Forester, we're taking a look at, I'm gonna show you how to `install the Draw Tite class three Max frame trailer hitch receiver. This is what our hitch is gonna look like when it's installed. You can see the cross tube is visible, but it's nice and close to the bottom of our fascia, and it's going to have a round tube design fits nicely with the contour of the vehicle. It's going to be a class three hitch, so it's going to work great for any of your class three accessories. Two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, nice reinforced collar gave us a little extra stability there. Hitch pin hole is going to be five eighths inch in diameter. It takes a standard five eighths hitch pin.

It does not come with a hitch, however it can be found here at etailer.com.This small hole here, this is for a J-pin stabilization device. What that's used for us to take any shake and play out of any of your hitch mounted accessories. That also does not come with a hitch, however, it can be found here at etrailer.com. We're going to have plate style safety chain loops, and you can see we have very large openings to accommodate different size hooks. This hitch is going to have a nice black powder coat finish, it's really gonna resist any rust or corrosion. As far as the weight capacities go, you're going to have a 525 pound Max tongue weight, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube, 3,500 pound Max trailer weight, which is the trailer plus the load included.

You can use weight distribution with this hitch. Weights are going to stay the same. I do recommend checking the owner's manual of your Forester to make sure the vehicle can withstand that amount of weight. You're going to go with the lowest number between the vehicle and the hitch. Now let me give you a few measurements to help you on deciding on any hitch mount accessories you may need, such as a bike rack, ball mount or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of the bumper, it's going to be about five inches.

This number is important for any of your hitch mount accessories that may fold up against your vehicle. From the ground to the top innermost part of your receiver tube, it's going to be about 14 inches. Now let's show you how to get this installed. First thing we need to do is on our driver's side frame rail we need to remove this underbody panel. On the outside. We're going to have some pushpin fasteners.

Take a flathead screwdriver, or a trim panel tool if you had one, pry out that center and pull out the rest. We're gonna have a couple of bolts, we're gonna use a 10 millimeter socket to remove those. Looks like we're going to have one more push pin fastener right inside this wheel well. Once you get that loose, you're going to have one here, and it may be easier just to remove this one too. There. So we don't to need to take it all the way off. They shouldn't give us enough room to get our hitch up on the frame rail, and then we're going to install this over top of our hitch.Next thing we're gonna do is we need to lower our exhaust. Before lowering our exhaust, take a strap, run it from your axle or you can run it from your springs. We just want to support our exhaust when we remove our hanger. So now we're going to have three rubber hangers remaining to remove. We're going to have one here, we're gonna have one over here, and we're gonna have one right here on the front of our axle. You're gonna take some silicone spray or lubricant, we're going to spray our hangers down. Take a pry bar and we're gonna pry that off like that. And we'll lower it down to give us enough room for our frame here on the passenger side. Now we'll take our 10 millimeter socket. We're going to remove our heat shield on her passenger side. So this is our heat shield. It actually went up like this, this was the part that was on our frame rail. You see how I have it marked here This is what we're going to be cutting out. We're just going to use some tin snips or aviation shears to cut it. Now we can reinstall our heat shield. Next, we're gonna pull out these three rubber plugs and this plastic one. Hold onto this back one 'cause we are going to be reinstalling it later. Next, we're going to be installing our hardware. We're going to be using these three holes on each frame rail. We're going to need a pull wire, carriage bolt, and a spacer block. We're going to start with this most rear hole, and we're going to come out this hole. Take the spring end, go through the hole like that, and put on your spacer block. Go ahead and push it up into the hole, and then thread on your carriage bolt. Grab the end of your wire. And just pull it out just like that. We're going to do the same thing with these two holes, and the same thing on the other side of the vehicle. With an extra set of hands, we'll remove our pull wires and raise our hitch into place. Gonna take conical tube washer, teeth facing towards the hitch and the nut to help hold the hitch in place while we install the remaining hardware. That's where we use an 18 millimeter socket. We're going to tighten and torque all of our hardware to the specifications in the instructions. Go ahead and reinstall the plugs that we use for our access hole. And then on our passenger side, we'll reinstall our heat shield, and then our under body panel on our driver's side. The factory bolts that we took out will not work. It'll work back here, it won't work on that one if they're too short. I'm just going to go ahead and install the two new bolts or we have. Now we'll reinstall our exhaust. Once you have your hangers back in place, you're gonna remove your safety strap. That'll do it for a look at and installation on the Draw Tite class three max frame trailer hitch receiver on our 2019 Subaru Forester.

Super easy install with no drilling or hole enlarging like some of the other options or other vehicles. My 2019 Subaru Forester Sport was a breeze. Maybe 1 hour of work. Included directions are great and clear. Highly recommend it. 705266

Install was easier than I thought . And wiring was done in a way I think is better than the video shows that was you don’t have a harness ha going out of your liftgate! There is a rubber grommet towards the rear of the trunk that I cut from the middle outwards, slid the harness in, and reinstalled grommet to prevent any water from entering the cabin . Have used it to tow my jetski and works great . 695605

Looks pretty good . Installed by the trailer rental place and it took about 45 minutes. It sits back a little more than I would have liked but I guess you did the engineering lat would work best. 613310

The hitch is perfect! Clean welds, heavy duty steel, and perfect fit for my wife’s 19 Forester. Saves $$$ over dealer installed option. Watch the etrailer video to follow up on the printed instructions. Took about an hour and a half from start to finish to install. Would recommend a second person to help if you don’t have a lift to work under. Shipped quickly and no damage. I recommend etrailer to all my friends. Another great purchase and process. Thanks! 655680

Order came quickly and intact. Box was a little torn but all parts were there. The instructions were clear and correct, with the exception of the incorrect 11/16 nut size. Instruction called for a 13/16 socket. The bolt installation wires worked great. The hard part was keeping the bolts in place while threading on the nuts. Found the best way was to use the washer as a jammer to hold the bolt still while threading on the nut. The hitch fit perfectly. I used silicone spray to aid in removal and installation of the rubber exhaust hangers. 606019

Used Etrailer video to aid with installation. Overall an easy install, hitch fit perfectly with mounting hardware. Use if tin snips would be ideal to trim heat shielding, we used a multi tool with cutoff blade and it worked fine. Hitch arrived with hole in the box but no damage to hitch or paint. Highly recommend a second set of hands when raising up the hitch, would much more difficult without. 629793

Perfect fit for my Subaru Forester. Seems very well made and sturdy. The fish wires to position the bolts in the enclosed frame channels worked beautifully. The printed instructions are not very good and are inaccurate, but fortunately aren't very necessary. 611143

Great product! No cutting of the rear bumper required. Only needed trimming of the thin metal heat shield above the muffler. The install was fairly straightforward but could definitely use 2 people. I ended up using my jack to hold one end up while fastening the other. Also, I recommend unbolting and removing the muffler from the exhaust pipe completely, making it a lot easier to install the passenger side. The driver side plastic cover will not fit underneath the hitch bracket like the instructions suggest and to avoid cutting the plastic ribs, I mounted it over. It is pretty flexible and will hold in place with the 2 extended bolts (provided). The main mounting hardware was tricky to snake through the frame, especially the forward-most holes. Picture attached with the 2 rear-most bolts in place. I put a hook in the wire to catch the hole edge which worked out. Took about 1.5hrs to install. 619289

I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase. The hitch arrived promptly and in good condition. It fit my 2019 Forester perfectly and went on exactly as shown in the instructional video. It's way overbuilt for my uses (not a bad thing), a small utility trailer and a bicycle rack. As an additional item the wiring harness went in perfectly. 611081

2019 forester hitch It arrived with the frame busted through the box and had been taped at some point. The hitch I bought in 2014 had the same problem. Packaging could be improved, but hey, it is heavy duty steel and didn't ruin it! Did NOT have to enlarge holes to get bolts/plates through- GREAT! Saved times! The plastic piece on the drivers side at the hitch is a fudge fit and the back bolt has to replaced with a longer one to thread up. The supplied parts were all excellent and fit well. The hitch looks nice and should tow my load with out a problem. Thank You! 610147

I just finished installing this. I did it by myself with the back end of my forester up on ramps, I think they’re about 8 inch ramps. I followed along with the video on this site and it was a breeze. Took me just over an hour, wasn’t rushing. I would have been done faster, but I accidentally bolted up the hitch with my shop light cord between the hitch and the car, had to loosen all the bolts and drop one side enough to get the cord out. Don’t do that. :-) My replacement bolts for the driver side under body panel didn’t include washers. I had some that would work and used them, but I do think the kit should include them. It looks like the guy in the install video has them. This will no doubt be strong enough for anything my forester is capable of hauling. This hitch was packaged nicely for shipping. I worked in a UPS hub while in college and saw lots of great and poorly packed boxes. They definitely put some thought into getting these to the destination intact and not all scratched up. Not a simple task for heavy and awkward shaped things. 628128

I installed the 76271 Hitch on my 2019 Forester on 3/2/19. The 2" hitch is well-made and heavy duty. Some general observations: the hitch is recessed approximately 5 inches (from the pin hole to the exterior of the bumper) so the tongue on my Rocky Mount bike rack (10 inches) fits with a couple of inches to spare; ground clearance from the bottom of the hitch is 10" so vehicle clearance is not compromised by installing the hitch. Installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. The exception to this is the 30 minute time estimate for installation. Thirty minutes might work in a shop with a lift and a couple of expert installers but doing it myself by crawling under the vehicle took me 3 hours (partly my problem). I did buy the exhaust removal pliers ($22) as suggested and they work great in lowering the muffler but aren't helpful in rehanging the muffler and that proved difficult especially for the middle hanger because after installing the hitch it was difficult to access this hanger (I put Liquid Wrench on the rubber gasket to facilitate rehanging). Being a smaller person I was able to slide under the rear of the vehicle with the 60 lb. hitch on my chest and while holding a bridge position (arched back) hand tightened the nuts/bolts (this was very exhausting). I was worried that the 6 fished-thru-the frame bolts would be pushed back into the frame and be difficult to retrieve but this didn't happen. I recommend lifting the vehicle and having two installers or plan on a challenging - by yourself - experience with more than a few mumbled words. The outcome is very good and was worth my time. Most shops charge $400 -450 for an installed 2" hitch that cost me $150. 609930

FINALLY!!! I have been waiting and waiting for Subaru to release the specs so that I could get a hitch for my bike rack. (etrailer won't have a hitch for a new model until the manufacturer releases the specs to build them properly). Not only was this almost half the price of the factory hitch, it installed easily, was shipped to my home and the customer service is excellent. I was kept up to date through a couple emails about the status of the release of the hitch being shipped and when I would receive it. I also received an email making sure I was happy with the purchase. This is my second hitch from etrailer and I would do it again and again. 606376

great product! installation process is simple. I watch installation video 2 times and today my hitch is installed. it takes me about three hours from start to finish. Product arrived quickly! Box was damaged/opened In one corner, but all the parts were there and hitch was in good condition. If you are not installing it yourself and bringing it in to a car shop like I did, DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU THAT THEY NEED TO REMOVE YOUR BUMPER IN ORDER TO INSTALL. They tried to take advantage of me and charge me $270 to remove bumper on 2019 brand new car to squeeze more $ out of me. I brought it to a different car shop and it took them 20 minutes and charged me $50. 637165

Packaging for shipping was poor. Item arrived with powder coat chipped of in multiple areas. Offered a credit to buy rattle can paint to correct. Product seems to be good quality, welds look great. Installation video was concise and easy to follow. This will require a second person to help align and thread bolts. I did not use a lift and had just enough clearance to fit my 250lb self under the car. Took about an hour to install. 619170

Prosecutors works great, and installation instructions and video make the task manageable for pretty much anyone. The only reason I wouldn’t go to 5 stars is because the 30-60 minute advertisement for installation is definitely for someone that owns a lift, and any specialty tools. The task took me ~2:30 hrs on my driveway with jack stands, and standard wrenches/pry bar. 728017

2020 Subaru Forester

Installed on a 2020 Subaru Forester, approx. 2 hr. Install time. The only thing that would have made this a perfect item would be an additional 1” longer receiver length. I had to make a modification to my bike rack rack to keep it from interfering with the bumper when folded up, due to the receiver being recessed to far from the bumper face. 723029

This hitch went on easily and just as the U-tube video showed. It took me less than 2 hours in my garage without a lift. I saved a bundle on what the dealer wanted to install and the bumper didn't have to be cut. Totally satified. 718745

The hitch seems to be well made and has a nice finish. The instructions do a good job but there is a video available that is much more helpful. The instructions say 30 minutes install for an experienced mechanic. I am not a professional but am pretty good with cars and it took me just over an hour. I was working from the ground since I don’t have a lift like a professional would. Everything fit well and seems solid though I haven’t used it yet. 698089

Solid Hitch Fairly Easy to Install. My wife just bought a new Subaru Forester and wanted us to get a hitch so we can load our bikes and go on a few adventures. After checking with the a few local dealers who all wanted over [price] to put on a class 1 I found etrailer. For 1/2 that I got the hitch and the bike rack plus the J lock. I’m fairly mechanically inclined and it took me about 2 hours from start to finish to get the hitch on. (including getting tools and walking back and forth) The directions were clear and easy to follow! There really weren’t any tricky parts. Just be careful once you take the fishing wires off you sure do not want to push the bolts into the frame. I do recommend using some ramps and what I did, was use a cheap mechanics stool to hoist the hitch into place. I would have given 5 stars if it was powder coated, the paint seemed thin and was chipped in a few places. No big deal but just spots for future rust to form. I really would recommend this hitch 100% great value great fast shipping. I would recommend that they(etrailer) should include a list of local installers with the shipping material for the non-mechanical purchaser 695212

Yet another excellent eTrailer installation video that made this job easy. It took me about an hour or so, and as several other reviewers noted, the extra set of hands to thread the bolts while I held up the hitch was extremely helpful. Otherwise, there was nothing tricky about this installation at all. Everything fit just like it was supposed to, the video explained the heat shield trimming well, and my only issue was busting up a knuckle trying to get one of the rubber exhaust hangars back on. But that's my bad, not etrailer's. 657498

2019 Subaru Forester

Perfect fit on my 2019 Forester. Took a couple of hours but I was working alone, taking my time and watching the on line video step by step. Video was particularly helpful in showing the cuts on the heat shield. The diagram in the written directions was OK but the video gave me confidence that I was cutting correctly. One suggestion: include a spacer washer for the driver side plastic boot. One of the bolts holding the boot falls on the hitch bracket and on off. A spacer under the bolt that is off the bracket would provide an even bearing. 656843

Going to give this a 5-star rating because it is just that. The only issue with this hitch is that the crossbar is about 1/2” below the spare tire tub in the body... this will make for a minor change in the departure angle for a Subaru if you’re off-reading it. Since that is not a concern for me, the product t is great. The installation video helps make the installation go very smoothly and I do suggest having an additional set of hands when it come to actually lifting the hitch into place... it’s heavier than it looks. I did it by myself, but some help to hold it up while bolting it down would have made it a lot easier. Pleased with the entire etrailer experience.., especially the product videos. 656025

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Comparing the Curt Hitch C13409 and Draw-Tite Hitch for a 2019 Subaru Forester
  • The best trailer hitch we have for your 2019 Subaru Forester is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76271. The reason that this is the best trailer hitch for you is because it is a custom fit which means no cutting or drilling is required. It has a class III, 2" receiver tube opening and is rated for a trailer up to 3,500 lbs. It also has a durable black powder coated finish and comes with a lifetime warranty. The other trailer hitch option we have for you is the Curt...

  • Availability of Hidden Hitch for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • We normally don't get multiple hitch fits for vehicles by the same manufacturer. Right now EcoHitch has the part # 306-X7391 that you referenced which is mostly hidden with only the hitch hanging down below the rear bumper, but it does require some fascia trimming. The other option you'd have is the Draw Tite part # 76271 which does not require trimming, but does require fascia removal and reinstallation. I attached an install video for this for more info as well.

  • Which Hitch for 2019 Subaru Forester Sticks Out Furthest for Folding Up Platform Bike Rack
  • The Curt hitch part # C13409 is the hitch you'll want as it sticks out the furthest relative to the rear bumper. If you check out the attached picture you'll see that this puts the hitch opening almost flush with the rear bumper whereas the Draw Tite is quite a bit more recessed. The Draw Titch part # 76271 does allow the Kuat NV # NV22G to fold up. I attached a review video that shows this rack demoed on a 2019 Forester with the Draw Tite hitch and towards the end of the video you can...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2019 Subaru Forester
  • We do have a hitch for your 2019 Subaru Forester, part # 76271 from Draw-Tite. The hitch is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds but from my research your Forester is rated up to 1,500 pounds as long as the trailer has brakes. If it doesn't have brakes then you're limited to 1,000 pounds. Always make sure you stay within the limitations of the vehicle. To tow a trailer you also need a wiring harness. I recommend the Hopkins, part # HM11143865, because it's the easiest to insall and has...

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • There is a trailer hitch that fits your 2019 Subaru Forester although hitch # E98839 will not. Instead you are going to need the Draw-Tite # 76271 which according to the manufacturer is a fit for all models of the 2019 Forester. This is a Class III, 2" trailer hitch with a 525 lb tongue weight capacity and 3,500 lb towing capacity. The Draw-Tite # 76271 hitch is a bolt-on installation that does not require any drilling into your Forester's frame to install, has a black powder coat...

  • Aftermarket Trailer Hitch vs. OEM Trailer Hitch for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • That's a really good question because it can be difficult to get a comparison but vehicle manufacturers sell their OEM parts just like aftermarket retailers so I was able to find the Subaru trailer hitch for a 2019 Subaru Forester, and the advantages of going with an aftermarket hitch are pretty extensive. The most significant difference is the class and receiver size of the OEM hitch compared to the aftermarket hitches. The factory Subaru hitch is a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch. Meanwhile,...

  • 2019 Subaru Forester Trailer Hitch Recommendation
  • The correct Draw Tite hitch for a 2019 Subaru Forester is the part # 76271 actually. The other part number you mentioned does not fit. If you wanted trailer wiring too for towing a small trailer the Tekonsha kit part # 118467 does carry over from the 2018 models to the 2019 models. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop....

  • Choosing Between Trailer Hitch Options for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • The best hitch for you is going to depend on how you plan on using it. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76271 is the best option if your goal is to tow a trailer behind your Forester because it's rated to be used with weight distribution and the unique design allows you to use Tow Ready J-Pin Stabilization Pin # 63201 to offer security and reduce rattle between the receiver and the ball mount. This hitch has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and 525 max tongue weight. The...

  • What Is the Ground Clearance For An Aftermarket Trailer Hitch on a 2019 Subaru Forester
  • The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13409 which is a fit for your 2019 Subaru Forester does not include the trailer wiring harness. This is separate and for this, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118467 because this is our most reliable option for you and it offers plug and play install. In regards to ground clearance, we have not yet had a chance to install this trailer hitch so I don't have any of those figures for you. However, we have had a chance to install...

  • Hanging 4 Bike Rack Recommendation for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • Just to clarify and try to address your initial concern, there won't be any parts removed from your vehicle when installing the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch # 306-X7391 , but there will be some trimming of the fascia on the underside of the bumper required. The differences in installation between the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch and the DrawTite # 76271 are directly correlated to the benefits of one over the other. The reason that the DrawTite hitch doesn't require that trimming is because it is mounted...

  • Best Trailer Hitch for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • The best trailer hitch for your 2019 Subaru Forester is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 76271 because not only is it the only hitch for your car that can be used with weight distribution (which is an important aspect for many when towing) but also because of the strong reputation of its manufacturer, Draw-Tite, for making high-quality trailer hitches. I have added a link to a video install of this hitch on a '19 Forester as well as a photo a customer sent in showing this hitch on...

  • Which Hitch for 2019 Subaru Forester Requires Least Vehicle Modification to Install
  • There's a really good chance you could install the Curt hitch # C13409 the same way that the Draw Tite part # 76271 installs but we have to recommend you stick with the manufacturers recommended method so that you don't void the warranty of the hitch and also we have never tested it a different way so we can't guarantee it would work any other way. Since you don't want to enlarge the frame hole (I don't blame you), and the Draw Tite hitch is easily just as good as the Curt in every...

  • Difference Between EcoHitch, Curt and Draw-Tite 2 Inch Hitches for 2020 Subaru Forester
  • What sets the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 receiver apart from the other two options is that it's going to be completely hidden behind your bumper. The only portion that is visible is the 2 inch square receiver. So, if looks are important to you, this is the best option to retain the OEM look of your Forester. EcoHitches are made in the USA and are constructed of recycled aluminum, steel and stainless steel, making them slightly lighter and more eco-friendly. The Curt # C13409 is assembled in...

  • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a 2019 Subaru Forester
  • The initial differences in the trailer hitches available for your 2019 Subaru Forester is that some of them have 1-1/4" receivers while others have 2" receivers. Going with the larger 2" receivers is always recommended because it opens up more opportunities for accessories that can be used. With that being said, the differences between the Curt # C13409 and Draw-Tite # 76271 are that the Curt trailer hitches tend to have better welds and a thicker powder coat for better protection but...

  • Trailer Hitches that Fit 2020 Subaru Forester
  • The Curt hitch part # C13409 has been carried over as a fit for the 2020 Subaru Forester as well as the EcoHitch part # 306-X7391 so realistically the Draw Tite part # 76271 would also carry over although Draw Tite hasn't officially carried it over.

  • Comparing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a Bike Rack with a 2019 Subaru Forester
  • As you have probably noted, the main differences between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36671 and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76271 for your 2019 Subaru Forester is that part # 36671 has a 1-1/4" receiver while part # 76271 has a 2" receiver. Aside from that the 2" option has a higher tongue weight capacity at 525 lbs whereas the 1-1/4" option has a 350 lb tongue weight rating. I always recommend going with the 2" receiver when it is available simply because it allows you to use a wider...

  • Total Weight of EcoHitch, Draw-Tite and Curt Trailer Hitch for 2020 Subaru Forester
  • I checked with the manufacturers of each hitch that fits your 2020 Subaru Forester, and here are their weights: - Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76271: 32 lbs - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13409: 34 lbs - EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7391: 37-1/2 lbs The EcoHitch weighs the most because it is made out of an alloy of recycled metals, while the Draw-Tite and Curt are made from steel. If you want to maintain your Forester's clean look, the EcoHitch...

  • What Bracket Should be used to Mount 7-Way for 2019 Subaru Forester
  • If you use the part # 37185 as a 4-way to 7-way adapter it comes with a bracket that you can use to attach to the lower bumper fascia of your 2019 Forester. Since the Draw Tite part # 76271 has a round cross tube there isn't a great way to attach mounting bracket to it. Keep in mind also that you shouldn't ever drill into a hitch to attach a mounting bracket either.

  • Comparing Available Hitch Options For A 2020 Subaru Forester
  • While the Curt # C13409 and Draw-Tite # 76271 both have a 525lb tongue weight, 3,500 maximum gross trailer weighting and 5/8" pin hole with similar safety chain openings and ground clearance, there are some differences. The Draw Tite # 76271 is my recommendation. It has a matte finish, with a more round and fuller looking collar. If towing is a planned use for your hitch, the Draw-Tite is your only option that's approved for with a weight distribution system. A minute differentiator...

  • How to Find Mechanic to Install Trailer Hitch on 2019 Subaru Forester
  • The Draw-Tite # 76271 trailer hitch that fits your 2019 Subaru Forester is a straightforward install and any qualified local mechanic should be able to do it easily. We are an online retailer and are not affiliated with any type of installers so there is nobody we can reliably refer you to. That said, your attitude towards an $800 trailer hitch and installation is right on as there is no reason whatsoever to shell out that type of money for a hitch and installation. The install...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Subaru Forester to Carry Bike Rack
  • It is absolutely okay for you to use a Class III, 2 inch trailer hitch on your 2019 Subaru Forester. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76271 is a great option that will give you the stability you are seeking and allow you to use a bike rack; we have had a number of customers install this hitch on their '19 Forester, as you can see by the "Reviews" tab on the product page. If you are looking for a bike rack that will work with this hitch I highly recommend checking out the Saris Freedom EX...

  • Does Draw Tite Hitch for 2019 Subaru Forester Affect Ground Clearance
  • I attached a picture to this page that shows what the Draw Tite Hitch part # 76271 looks like when installed and you can see that since it hangs below the rear bumper it would affect ground clearance. You can see the same picture in the attached link to the install instructions also.

  • Can a 4-Bike Rack Be Used On a 2019 Subaru Forester Sport with 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • If the trailer hitch receiver you have on your 2019 Subaru Forester Sport is a class I 1-1/4" then the maximum number of bikes you can carry regardless of weight is two. This has to do with the inability for the the class I trailer hitch receiver to handle the increased leverage of the additional bikes further away from the vehicle. If the trailer hitch receiver you have on your 2019 Subaru Forester Sport is a class II 1-1/4" then you can haul four bikes however, as you mentioned the...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for 2019 Forester Touring Hitch to Minimize Interference with Back-up Camera
  • The 2019 Subaru Forester Touring has the nice backup camera integrated just above the license plate and close to centered. When using a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 76271 for instance, you will want to account for the hitch pin hole to outermost bumper to ensure you have the clearance needed. For example this hitch pin is 5 inches recessed from the outer bumper so it will not allow folding of the Kuat Transfer # TS02G for example. Because of the location of the camera,...
