With a 4,000 lb maximum gross trailer weight and 600 lb tongue weight rating, this Class III hitch gives you the strength to tow small campers, boats, or utility trailers with confidence. The 2" x 2" receiver opening works with most ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers, so you can handle nearly any trip or task. It’s a solid match for everyday towing and heavier accessory use without needing extra adapters.
You don’t need welding equipment or shop tools to install this hitch. The fully welded design bolts directly to the vehicle frame using the included hardware and clear instructions. It’s built for DIY installation with basic sockets and hand tools. The precision, robotic welding ensures everything lines up right the first time, saving time on setup and making the process smoother in a home garage or driveway.
The gloss black powder coat finish is layered over a protective base coat, keeping rust at bay even after years of road grime and weather exposure. The round-tube design gives it a clean, finished look under the bumper instead of something clunky or industrial. You can count on the steel construction to stay sturdy and look sharp through all sorts of towing conditions.
This hitch comes ready to bolt up with a full hardware kit—no extra parts needed to mount it securely. Ball mount, pin and clip are sold separately so you can match them to your specific load or trailer setup. Whether it’s pulling a small trailer or carrying extra gear for the weekend, this hitch has the strength and fitment to keep everything solid on the road.

You mentioned and sent in pictures to show that the hitch hangs low which is causing it to scrape on the dips in the road. I checked and due to the way, the vehicle is setup, all of the trailer hitches they make for it will hang down rather low. There is one option I have for you to prevent it from scraping the pavement. It would be to use a skid wheel like the Roadmaster Rollaway Trailer Hitch Protector part # RM-050. The skid wheel attaches to the hitch via the hitch pin hole and will prevent the receiver tube opening from scraping the pavement on inclines.

The Curt trailer hitch along with the Yakama load extender also from eTrailer turns my Subie into a truck that can haul 4x8 sheet material and lumber up to 20 feet. No need to borrow or rent trucks for these kinds of home improvement runs.

It is possible that the hitch arrived flexed which could the brackets to not lie flat against the frame. We do have an FAQ that can help with correcting flexed hitches. I am also including a link on hitch installation tips for lowering the exhaust.

I just purchased a 2014 Subaru outback. I need a 2 hitch to haul my bikes. I already have a Hollywood rack that holds 4 bikes and would like to drive the outback some of the time instead of my gas guzzling Toyota Tundra. Recommendations?
