Video Transcript for Trailer Valet XL Drill Attachment Replacement Review

What's up everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Trailer Valet Drill Attachment. So, this is gonna come with all of your Trailer Valet jacks and dollies, but it can also be used with your 5X Trailer Valet as well. It's gonna be a trailer mover. So, you can use this just to make it a lot quicker. Comes with it, but if you lose it, you can grab a replacement here, but this is gonna work with any drill that has a 3/8 drive, or a 1/2 inch drive.

This, it'll just insert into there, you can tighten it up. And we're ready to go. This is gonna work with any 3/4 inch hex drives on your trailer jack. So, if you have one like that, that's not a Trailer Valet, it will work, and we don't recommend that you use a corded drill with this, nor do we recommend you use an impact drill. So this is gonna make really quick and easy work.

If you're in a hurry, or you just want to work a little smarter, not harder, this is gonna get it done a lot quicker than just cranking it by yourself. I think this is basically a necessity for any type of jack you may have. If it works, awesome. If you wanna upgrade and get these features, go ahead and grab a Trailer Valet. This is what's on my trailer because it works.

So, if you lost it or you're just spending too much time cranking down on your jack. You can go ahead and grab this here at etrailer. If you lost it, we got you covered. And that'll do it for a look at the Trailer Valet drill attachment..

I purchased my trailer valet and drill attachment a year ago so that I could move my 20’ camper and jetskis easier. As a disabled vet moving the jetskis into my backyard via a gate to the main road was time consuming and took me an hour. Now it takes me 5-10 minutes. I store my trailer to the front of my home and wanted to make it harder to steal, but had no way to get the front of it close to my fence. With the trailer valet I am able to disconnect from my truck and move it into place within 15 minutes. This is a game changer for me because I can do it by myself and my trailer and jetskis are safely stored without much fuss. I often get asked how I move the front of my trailer so close to my fence. The trailer valet is the best thing I could have purchased. I can get in and out of tight spaces without hurting myself and without anyone else needing to help me.

by:

This attachment works well. It is not difficult to use BUT one MUST be careful to keep the brake handle fully in the release position or one CAN break a wrist while using a drill motor - which is not the fault of the attachment.

by:

This part in itself is great, but the Valet itself not so much. I have the Valet attached to a trailer parked on grass. The tread of the tires are equivalent as street tires on icy roads. The Valet is as designed when on packed dirt and asphalt.

by:

The uspc tracking is a little deceiving. It did not show as received for several days, it did however ship in a timely manor (about a week)
The trailer valet adaptor is of nice quality and works very well. Even though it is overpriced in my opinion.

by:

Works as described/designed. Probably should be included in the purchase price of the trailer valet or even simpler make the attachment point universal rather than proprietary.

by:

I am glad I bought the trailer valet unit. It has made getting our travel trailer in and out of our garage a lot easier. I would say that using the drill option for moving the trailer is useful, but the torque can hand you with some surprises, so you need to think ahead as you use that option. One useful hint: take the regular handle off before using the drill. In general, this device has worked well for us.

by:

Works great with drill, just be very very careful not to let brake handle on valet engage, guaranteed you’ll lose a big chunk of skin on your hand when the drill spins on you…

by:

Tried everything to try and make the trailer valet xl work. I tried communicating with the company representative but ran into dead ends. etrailer tried to help but they didn’t manufacture the unit. This was supposed to move up to 10k pounds but not even close. Every time a boat and trailer was tried to be moved on flat concrete the torque would just pull the unit up under the trailer or just pull out of the trailer tongue. I was able to move one boat , it weighed 1500, far from the advertised weight. I now just takes up space

I am sorry to hear that the Valet is not working for your needs. I see from the notes that Trailer Valet was supposed to reach out to you and I wanted to see if they did.

by:

It does not work with the original Trailer Valet. It will not fit the square drive

by:

Works perfect very happy

by:

Candra G was great ?? I have the order in hand and I'm on track with my schedule. Thanks guys.

by:

Good match for 5x valet trailer.

by:

In the write-up of the Trailer Valet XL, it was unclear whether this device was included or not. It was. So I wasted my money ordering this, but I needed to use the Valet as soon as I received it, so I couldn't take the change of having to order one later.

by:

Put this in your cordless drill and move your trailer with ease!

by:

I have an extremely narrow area that I cannot back up my boat between the side of my house and fence. My truck cannot make the turn required and it is slightly uphill. With the drill attachment and my 18 volt brush less drill moving the boat into place using the Trailer Valet is an easy task that I could not do without this device. It was the deciding factor that allowed me to purchase the boat.

by:

I did try it on gravel. It worked ok. I did use my drill, but it wasn't totally charged. Next time it will be totally charged.

by:

power tools are always a better way than hand cranking.

by:

Great service,quick delivery

so far this unit looks to be great and exactly what I needed. Since I am getting older I am trying to do everything I can to make my RV'ing and trailer life easier. I pull a cargo trailer behind my 5th wheel. The trailer Valet will allow me to hitch the 2 up much easier. It also allows me to park my 5th wheel in my back yard and my cargo trailer next to it without having to be hooked up to my truck. etrailer recommends using the low gear to start and I can confirm that. There is a little bit of getting used to driving and steering it. I do recommend using your drill and the Socket that is purchased separately. Makes it a lot easier. I will be using mine as a permanent trailer jack. I think this will be fine

by:

Does what it is suppose to do.

by:

I park our Big Tex 18' car transporter trailer facing inward in its parking place (ie, ramps at the back) so I can drive our little sports car directly off. But then, of course, if I want to trailer the car somewhere, I have to turn it around to hitch on. This was a real pain, impossible for me to do by myself. The 5X Trailer Mover works great, I can park and move the trailer myself (turns out, even with the car loaded, in my case...my total weight is about 4400 lbs loaded). The 5X unit is very heavy duty, it weighs over 50 lbs.

etrailer did a great job, package arrived very quickly, and they sent an email in case I had any issues. You wouldn't go wrong with this product.

by:

This review will be for not only the Trailer Valet attachment, but for the Trailer Valet as well.
The good: works well on cement and with the attachment I don't have to push my boat into my garage (it has a slight incline at the entrance). E-Trailer is excellent for customer support! I had a couple of minor issues and they were really on top of getting me help.
The not-so-good: I've heard the Trailer Valet doesn't perform on grass or gravel. The attachment is made specifically for the Trailer Valet and you will not find another socket to work. Too bad the company chose to make extra money ($45) for a $5 part. On the Trailer Valet the bushings needed lubrication after one year because it started grinding. A simple fix but until I raised this issue the company did not have a video on how to do this maintenance. You will have to purchase ring clip pliers for this job.

by:

Needed to be a bit creative the mounting. Other than that this worked out very well. My drill moved the jack with little effort. Quality addition to my flatbed trailer.

by:

I bought the 5X Trailer Valet for my Jayco Pop UP camper. My driveway has a short but steep incline. I had been wrestling with the camper by moving it a few feet at a time with strategically placed wheel chocks. And what resembled a strong man competition to turn it around into the garage. Although the 5X is quite bulky it works remarkably well. I bought the drill attachment to "motorize" the 5X. There is a bit of a learning curve, between the combination of the tiller handle and the drill motor. The hand crank works surprisingly easy. The tires arrived with 10 lbs. PSI. The manual says tire pressure should be 85 lbs.. Defiantly check this out before applying tongue weight. All in all the 5X does the job.

by:

I've used my Trailer Valet to move my 20' enclosed utility trailer around the driveway.
I've also used it to move my 30' camper around, putting planks down on the lawn to run the Valet across. It works good, but is quite a workout with heavy trailers. In confined spaces, there's just no other way to do the job. I would like to have my original Valet adaptable to the newer, "universal ball-mount" style so I wouldn't have to buy a new unit and just set aside the original unit. The new "ball-mount" Valet would greatly simplify using the Valet. Overall, I'm pleased with the quality and operation of my original unit.

I have a Black and Decker cordless drill that I got at Lowes which I have used for similar purposes. Something like that would do just fine.

  • Can Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack Be Used to Park Trailer
Absolutely! The Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack # STC-V211 that you referenced can certainly be used to maneuver a trailer around at the camp ground in order to fit it into a tight parking space. Many customers also use it to move their trailer in and out of a garage that doesn't have a lot of wiggle room to work with. I have attached a couple customer reviews that specifically detail this benefit and their experience with it. You might also consider adding the Drill Attachment # TVDA...

  • Recommended Trailer Dolly For A Teardrop Camper With A Max Coupler
The only solution we currently offer to manually move your trailer with a Max Coupler would be to use the Trailer Valet 5X Swivel Jack and Trailer Mover # STC-V211 that you were already looking at. This would clamp to the tongue of the trailer and have a hand crank to push the wheels and move your trailer around with ease. You can also use a drill with part # TVDA to make moving the trailer even easier.
