Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Brophy ball mount for two inch hitches. Has the 10 inch drop and a 7,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this is a nice, sturdy steel ball mount for two inch hitches, and it can be used in the drop position to fit your application. Total drop on this, which is measured from the ball platform to the top of the shank, you can see if we put a ruler on it, it's gonna be right at 10 inch drop.
Now, this ball mount will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. And because this has such a large drop of 10 inches, it is designed for lifted trucks. This shank right here will slide into your vehicle's two inch hitch receiver. And the ball platform right up front here provides the mounting point for your hitch ball. Now, the hitch ball is not included.
That is sold separately. The ball hole diameter that the ball fits in is one inch. So, it is designed to work with hitch balls that have a one inch shank diameter, and the thickness of the ball platform is 3/4 of an inch. Now, this ball mount cannot be used in the rise position, and it cannot be use with hitch extenders. Also, one other note I do wanna mention, use of any ball mount like this that has a 10 inch drop does reduce the trailer hitch capacity by 1/3.
So, your towing capacity is limited to 2/3 of your lowest rated towing component, be it the vehicle, the hitch, the ball mount, or your hitch ball. This is a nice, sturdy steel construction. You can see it has the hollow shank. It is a corrosion resistant black powder coat finish. And when you do install this into your hitch receiver, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure it.
Now, that is not included. We do sell those separately on our website, and they're usually listed on this product page as a related product. The pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch, so you do wanna make sure to use a pin and clip or hitch lock that is a 5/8 inch diameter pin. Now, the length, the length in a ball mount is always measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball hole. So, on this one, if we go from the center to the center of the ball hole, that is right at 11 1/8 inches. And then the distance from the center of this hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the gusset, you can see they put this gusset in there for extra support, so just to make sure you don't run into any fitment problems, the center to that, to the start of the gusset is about 3 3/4 inches. Now, this part is made in the USA. Again, the specs on this, it's designed to fit two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. Gross towing weight capacity is 7,500 pounds, and the tongue weight capacity is 750 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Brophy ball mount for two inch hitches with the 10 inch drop and a 7,500 pound gross towing weight capacity..

I ordered a 10 drop ball mount, a wheel chock to hold my motorcycle and a master lock ball lock to use when the trailer is parked. I am very happy with the purchase, the ball mount and the wheel chock have good looking welds and they are power coated, the security lock is polished stainless. I am real happy with my purchase. the sales person, ( Karen in this case ) was knowledgable on the products, I qualified for free shipping, was given an email and tracking number, so I knew at all times were my shipment was in route. The products were packages well with no damage and UPS did an outstanding job of meet their stated schedule for delivery, out standing. The purchase and delivery proves to me American Business can excel and they really did with my order.
The products I purchased are of good quality and the 10" drop ball mount was exactly as advertised. The only problem I have is with the amount of dimension information provided on your website for the sway control bracket that did not fit on the ball mount itself. Your website states that the ball mount is a class III mount and that the sway control bracket would fit on class III and class IV mounts when in fact it does not. Other than that I am satisfied with the quality, cost and delivery of my products.
This replaces an adjustable hitch that rattled, clattered, and banged so much it drove me crazy. I use this to pull small trailers with astronomical equipment in them, with the old hitch the trailers would swing side to side enough the items inside the trailer would shift position and rub on other items.
Got the help I needed (from Gwen) to identify and confirm my understanding of what I needed (receiver hitch with a 10 inch drop) and then placing the order. I was then very happy with the quick shipping and delivery. Although the estimated delivery was a week and a half later, I actually received the hitch only 2 days later.
I recently bought a new Subaru Ascent and it had a class three hitch and a high ground clearance as compared to my old Honda Pilot. I needed to drop the ball 10 inches to tow my boat. Found exactly what I needed at etrailer! The ball mount appears well made and sturdy, and quite a bit heavier than I expected. Looks like it will last forever!

Product is exactly what I ordered. If there is a concern about the gusset clearance to your hitch and the pin not lining up, mine clears with room to spare. Shipping was quick and another great eTrailer experience.
I have put this hitch through torture from pulling heavy loads to snatching and pulling friends out of bad situations . I can't bend or break this hitch , best money I ever spent .

Ball mount with 10 inch drop is great, but it arrived with half of it sticking out of the box. Just some minor scratches in the paint. Stronger packaging needed.
