This breakaway kit with battery charger activates your trailer's electric brakes if the trailer disconnects from your vehicle. The case clamps onto your trailer's frame or jack post. Designed for trailers with up to 3 axles. Battery included.

As advertised. Good instructions, and easy to install. I would have liked more options for mounting the battery, but it fit around the tongue jack with no problems.

- Will Trailer Break Away System Show Power On Blue Wire With Trailer UnpluggedThe breakaway system uses a normally open switch, so power won't be delivered to the trailer brakes unless the switch is pulled. The power is delivered by an on-board battery. You'll only see power on the wire from the switch to the battery, not on the other leg of the switch unless the pin has been pulled which closes the circuit from the battery to the trailer brakes.
