Great kit for replacing my old system liked the extra length of all the wires especially the switch so I didn’t have to lengthen them like with most replacement switches

Great product, very clear wiring instruction on the box.

Great kit that includes the parts needed. Wires are long to allow options when mounting without having to splice wires into it.

don't really care for the test light on the top

etrailer is great as always. They are my sole source for everything trailer and I have never had a complaint against them. This product on the other hand, horrible. They apparently have no quality control and make a crap product. When I received it, I took out the two screws holding the lid closed, to charge the battery before installing it on my trailer. When I went to open the lid, the first thing I noticed was the hinge on the lid was broken in two of three places holding the hinge to the lid. (see attached pictures) I immediately contacted etrailer and they sent me a replacement, like I said before they are great. So I just received the replacement, I gently opened the box and the first thing I did was check the hinge. Wanna guess? Yep it was broken in two of the three places as well. The product packaging was in excellent shape, the shipping boxes were in great shape for both, there are no signs of shipping damage. So this is a lid that is supposed to be mounted to a trailer and survive the elements for years and it can't even make it to the consumer without damage. NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

Wired well, battery is charging, so far so good. Have not and hope to never use.

Mounted fine and works as intended. Coated terminals on battery with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion because the battery box isn't water tight. Otherwise great product for the price.

  • Parts Needed to Add Self-Adjusting Electric Brakes And Hub & Drum on 3,500 lb Axle
Thanks so much for all that specific info and we do have exactly what you need for the hub and drum and self-adjusting electric brakes for your trailer with a 3,500 lb axle. The exact parts you need are the following: - Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles # 84546UC3-EZ - Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469 - Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 You'll need two hubs, but the electric brakes are a complete...

  • Can New 7-Way Trailer Wiring Rewire be Tested
The easiest way to tell if a trailer's 7-way wiring is functional is to have a vehicle with a 7-way nearby so you can just plug it in and test the functions. Otherwise we have a 7-way tester part # 8010 which I realize may not be the most practical solution. Or you could run 12 volt jumper wires from a vehicle's positive battery post to all of the circuits on the 7-way with a jumper wire ran from the ground pin to the negative side of the battery. For just the brakes you can run the...

The main battery box included in the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 is 6-1/2 inches wide by 4-3/4 inches deep by 4-7/8 inches tall. The mounting hole centers are 5.9 inches apart. The wire leads on the breakaway switch are approximately 36 inches long. If you forward to about the 2:50 mark on the video I attached, it will show these measurements, but I've also attached a photo for reference.

  • How To Charge Your Breakaway Switch Battery On Your Trailer
The Bright Way Trailer Brakeaway Kit # 3802308 has a built in 1-AMP charger. So when your truck is connected it will be charging. There should be no draw going out while the trailer is disconnected so it should be ready to rip whenever you're ready to haul. I recommend wiring it up using a junction box # 3375601101. I've included two videos for you to watch to see how I set up our enclosed trailer at our shop.

  • Parts Needed To Give A Dexter 3,500LB Idler Axle Electric Drum Brakes
You can use the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469 as long as your Dexter Axle does have the Brake Mounting Flange # 4-35, otherwise you will need to have those welded on. These brakes are great as once you have them initially set you will not have to adjust them periodically. They will automatically adjust which improves braking quality and life. • Making a Boat Trailer Tandem Axle By Adding Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System
First I would recommend contacting the manufacturer of the boat trailer to ensure that you do not exceed the structural strength of the trailers frame with the amount of weight that you wish to be able to tow. It would be heartbreaking to see you put in all the work and the frame not to be strong enough. I recommend installing 2 sets of the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs # A35RS545E. This is due to the suspension characteristics would be different...

Thanks so much for the photos as they were very helpful; they show your trailer's drums are 12 inches in diameter, and that you do have a 5-bolt brake mounting flange. • Trailer Breakaway Kit For Replacement of Melted Kit
I'm certainly sorry to hear that; there are a couple of issues that may have caused this, from a bad kit to the far more likely scenario of there being a short somewhere along the wiring, though it's not possible for me to say with any real certainty. I do have to say that the breakaway definitely needs its own battery, which is required by law in most states. I highly recommend going with a breakaway kit that has its own battery, from Bright Way. You can choose from either a 5 or 10...

  • Converting Hydraulic Drum Brakes to Electric Brakes on Tandem 3,500 Lb Axle Boat Trailer
Yes, plenty of people choose to use electric brakes on their boat trailer because of the lower maintenance and cost as compared to hydraulic brakes. To replace your current hydraulic brakes I recommend our Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA. This includes both the right hand and left hand brake assemblies, mounting bolts and adjuster plugs. If you are unable to reuse your old nuts and lock washers, those are sold separately as part # BRKH10B. Since you were checking out hub...

Yes, the 5,200lb Dexter axle you currently have will use the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-105-106 as you are converting to electric brakes. The only brake assemblies available for 5,200lb axles are all hydraulic. I recommend upgrading to the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-458-459 as this will increase the life of your brakes and save you from having to adjust your brakes every 3,000 miles. If your drums/hubs are grooved from the old brakes you can...

  • Breakaway Switch is Not Working After Pulling Pin
There are many, many reasons why your breakaway switch may not be operating after pulling the pin, and of course it's really important to get that remedied. • Adding Brakes to Utility Trailer with Custom 3,500 lb Axle with 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern
Since you're looking for a relatively easy installation and your camper only has a single 3,500 lb axle, your best option is to add electric brakes. These will work well to provide safe and reliable breaking on your fully loaded trailer and do not require major modifications like adding a hydraulic brake actuator or running hydraulic brake lines, which is the case when adding drum or disc hydraulic brakes to a trailer. If you already have hubs with integrated drums on your trailer,...

  • Changing From Hydraulic to Electric Trailer Brakes on Trailer With 2,000 lb Axle
I took a look at the specs of your 1998 Jayco Eagle 12UDST, and it looks like this is a single axle trailer with a 2,000 lb axle. That means you likely have a 7" hub and drum like the Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-257-5UC3-EZ, though you will want to confirm that by measuring the inside diameter of the hub. If you do have a 7" hub and drum, as well as a 4-bolt mounting flange like # 4-34, the correct electric brakes are the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies...

This is why the Curt Echo # C51180 will only start to receive power on your camper when the 7-way is plugged in.
