Off-Road Mode

The off-road mode is a unique feature of the Redarc Tow-Pro Link. In this mode, the brake controller will apply your trailer's brakes with a preset amount of power, independent of what your tow vehicle is doing.

This is ideal for off-roading or challenging conditions. Set the power low if you're towing through sand or mud so that the trailer doesn't stop with too much force and act as an anchor. If navigating a steep descent, set the power to a higher level to ensure that the trailer doesn't push against the tow vehicle.

What is Proportional Braking?

What is proportional Braking

Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.

The Tow-Pro Link uses an internal 6-axis accelerometer and gyrometer to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

  • Brake Controller for 2021 Volkswagen Atlas With Tow Package
Hey Ryan, welcome back! A brake controller will cover anything with brakes and then you will also need a ball mount. The # C57DR you were looking at will work, but you don't really need all of that. The sway bar would be a permanent addition to a single trailer so it wouldn't work on anything else you may tow later on. The Echo is convenient, but a lot of people have issues with the app so I don't really recommend it anymore. Nothing would be more frustrating then trying to get on the...

  • Will Redarc Tow-Pro Link Work On 2026 BMW X5 X40i With Factory Tow Package
Hello Greg, thanks for reaching out. So the reason for that is the Redarc Tow-Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller is still in a pre-order phase. We only have one SKU and it is for the controller and universal harness. Once the controller becomes available, we will be adding a bunch more part numbers to include vehicles with or without factory tow packages. So it will be available to use with the tow package in your BMW eventually, but it might still be a while until we add those SKUs. Right...

  • Will Redarc Tow Pro Link Work In 2024 Tacoma TRD That Has OEM 7 Way But No Brake Controller?
Yes, Jeff, your 2024 Tacoma TRD is a great match, as is any vehicle with a 7 way connector on the back. You’ll just want to use the Redarc # RED57AR and you won't need anything else. It connects in front of the 7 way outlet on your vehicle, then plugs in via USB in your cab. You can also use your phone to operate the controller. No cutting or splicing is needed. We had a neighbor who completed his install in less than 10 minutes and was towing his Jayco trailer the next morning with full...

  • Will Redarc Tow Pro Link Controller Interfere with 2022 F150 Collision And Stability Systems?
Good afternoon Brian, and no, not at all. The Redarc Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR operates completely independently of your vehicle’s CAN bus and stability control systems. It pulls its signal from the brake circuit, not the onboard electronics. You’ll get seamless operation with zero warning lights or false sensor readings. Let us know if you’re using any other aftermarket sensors or if you’re combining this with a weight distribution hitch, and I'll confirm full compatibility.

  • Parts Needed to Add Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty to 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander Max Platinum Hybrid
Hey Kyle! It looks like the tow package on your Grand Highlander comes with a hitch and 4-way wiring. To add a brake controller all you need to do is upgrade it to a 7-way. The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will upgrade your existing 4-way to a 7-way. Once that is installed, you can add the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR. What kind of trailer will you be towing?

  • How To Mount Remote Button For Redarc Tow Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller
Hey there Brianna, the Redarc Tow-Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller # RED57AR can be mounted just about anywhere in the cab where there is a hard surface like plastic or vinyl. Most mount it on the dash or center console area. The nice thing about it is that it's not permanent; if it ever needs to be moved or cleaned, the sticky adhesive can be washed with water and once it dries, it will be as sticky as new! Here is a photo of the remote installed in the center area of a newer vehicle....

  • How Does Redarc Tow-Pro Link SwayStop Work?
Hey Kevin, great questions! The Redarc Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR SwayStop works with the simple push of a button. All you have to do is press the manual override (SwayStop button in the picture below) once and it will kick in to get your trailer sway under control. The Link has a 6-axis accelerometer so once you press the button the brake controller will sense the vehicle sway at the rear and apply the brakes accordingly until it stops.

  • How Do I Calibrate The Redarc Tow Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller?
Hey Marc! Calibration for the Redarc # RED57AR only takes a few miles if in town, maybe a little longer if you aren't making frequent stops as it sometimes takes 15-20 braking applications. It’s fully automatic and uses internal sensors to detect motion and orientation. Once it’s set up, you don’t need to recalibrate unless you remove the unit or change vehicles. We recommend giving it a test squeeze on the override/sway button just to confirm its dialed in each trip. Jacob from Kentucky...

  • How To Mount And Use Redarc Tow Pro Link On 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon
Hey Danielle. The Redarc Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR was designed with clean installs in mind. Tyler, one of our customers, mounted his on the dash of his Gladiator and paired it with the Redarc app in under 15 minutes. The module itself plugs in behind the 7 way outlet at the back of the truck, and the remote can be hidden out of sight or mounted anywhere you'd like in the cab and will still work flawlessly. You can control the gain and brake override / sway control through the mounted remote,...

  • Brake Controller for 2025 Tacoma TRD With Factory 7-Way
Hey Tim! Those pins having power when the truck is on is normal and won't cause any issues. The brake output pin won't have any power unless a brake controller is installed in your Tacoma. The Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Brake Controller # TK94FR uses Bluetooth to communicate with the included remote. It will not communicate with your truck or phone. You will need a 12V outlet to plug in the remote, I'm not sure if your 2025 Tacoma comes with one since many vehicles have moved away from...

  • Will Redarc Tow-Pro Link Fit My 2025 Toyota Tacoma?
Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out! Yes, you can use the Redarc Tow-Pro Link Bluetooth Brake Controller # RED57AR on your 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The brake controller will install in-line behind your 7-way at the rear of the truck. This makes for an easy installation that also keeps the main unit hidden and out of the way. The brake controller can be operated via the remote in your cab or through the app. The remote makes it easy to operate while driving and can be mounted pretty much anywhere....

  • Will Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller Work With 2019 Ford Ranger With Factory Tow Package
Hi John; yes, the Curt Echo # C51180 will work with your 2019 Ford Ranger. The only thing it needs to function on any vehicle is a working 7-way so it is compatible since you have one on the truck. Since you're looking at wireless options you may be interested in the new Redarc Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR. The Link installs at the back of your trailer connector so it is always ready to go. You get the reliability of Redarc, along with a physical remote which is powered via a USB port, plus...

  • Availability of Installation Instructions for Redarc Brake Controller on 2024 Toyota Tacoma
Hey Eric; there are no specific instructions for the installation of Redarc brake controllers like the Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR on a 2024 Tacoma. Your Tacoma doesn't have a custom wiring harness since there is no port for the brake controller under the dash. It is your generic installation with the splicing of the 4 wires using the universal wiring harness. I'm not sure what all you found but with so many vehicles out there it can be hard to identify the wiring until someone installs...

  • Can Redarc Tow-Pro Link Be Installed on 2003 Toyota Tacoma
Hey Tom! As long as you have the factory 7-way on there you can install the Redarc Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR on your 2003 Toyota Tacoma. The brake controller installs in-line at the back of the 7-way using the USCAR connector. If you added an aftermarket 7-way make sure it has this connector behind the 7-way. If you can disconnect the plug at the back of the actual connector it is pretty safe to assume it is a USCAR connector. What kind of trailer will you be towing?
