Will the Redarc Tow-Pro Link work with my 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road that already has a factory 7-way but no brake

Yes, Jeff, your 2024 Tacoma TRD is a great match, as is any vehicle with a 7 way connector on the back. You’ll just want to use the Redarc # RED57AR and you won't need anything else. It connects in front of the 7 way outlet on your vehicle, then plugs in via USB in your cab. You can also use your phone to operate the controller. No cutting or splicing is needed. We had a neighbor who completed his install in less than 10 minutes and was towing his Jayco trailer the next morning with full braking power and full confidence.

Let us know what you’ll be towing and we can help dial in the settings for your trailer and terrain. It does have an Off-Road mode that helps apply more brakes in those rough areas.

Thanks! I’ll mostly be towing a Black Series HQ12 off-road camper through some rocky forest roads and fire trails. How exactly does the Off-Road mode work with the Redarc? Does it kick in automatically or do I need to change settings in the app before heading out?

@Jeff Awesome setup, Jeff. The HQ12 is a beast and the Tow-Pro Link pairs up nicely with that kind of rugged towing. The Off-Road mode adjusts the braking accordingly to give more aggressive trailer braking when your tow vehicle’s ABS is limited. You do need to manually change to the Off Road mode. I attached an image that shows you how to do this. If you're planning to do long grades or creek crossings, I’d recommend testing your gain settings on gravel before you fully load up.

@AndrewN One more thing, I know the Tacoma has lane assist and stability control systems. Is there any risk of interference from the Redarc?

@Jeff Totally fair concern, Jeff, and the good news is you won’t run into any interference issues here. The Tow-Pro Link doesn’t connect into your vehicle’s CAN bus or advanced safety systems; it gets its input from the trailer wiring at the 7-way and sends brake signals to your trailer without tapping into anything on your dash or ECU. We’ve had customers install this on Tacomas, Tundras, and even Land Cruisers with Toyota Safety Sense and never trigger a warning light or fault code. You’ll get clean, proportional braking, and your lane assist, sway control, and pre-collision systems will still function exactly as they should. Let me know if you’re also using a weight distribution system or trailer sway control, we can help layer that in with the brake controller setup.
