Video Transcript for Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing: The Breakdown

Today, were going to review part number LM11949. This is the Redline Replacement Trailer Wheel Bearing. This is an outer wheel bearing. This wheel bearing is designed for agricultural hubs. Most replacement bearing are high quality, used high quality tapered roller bearings. All bearings will have industry standard number stamped on them regardless of the brand.

If you need to replace your bearings, what youd want to do is look on the inner ring and thered be a number stamped. In this case, if you look on this one it says LM11949. If you give us that number then we can cross-reference it to get you the correct size wheel bearing for you spindle. Now, a bearing will consist of three parts. The inner ring or cone, which goes on the spindle, the tapered roller bearings and then the roller retainer or the cage which will hold the roller bearings in place. These wheel bearings are lubed by using wheel bearing grease or oil in some cases. There is one other part that is required and that is the bearing race.

That would be the part that the bearing would sit into and rotate the bearings in. This bearing will use a race; part number LM11910, which is sold separately. The race will have an outside diameter of 1.781. Thats the critical diameter for the race. This wheel bearing is if you do not have access to the number on the wheel bearing, you will need to measure this inner diameter, which is the critical measurement to get you the correct bearing. We have a digital caliper, which would be required; most of the measurements are within thousandths of an inch.

A ruler or a taper measure just wont work. If we put the digital caliper in there and measure it, it would give us a measurement of .750. This would have an inner diameter of .750. That should do it for review on part number LM11949.

  • Replacement Grease Seal For a Trailer Hub Using LM11949 Outer Bearing and LM67048 Inner Bearing
If you can send me the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal sits and the diameter of the hub where the seal is pressed onto I can verify if we have the correct seal. Currently I do see we carry 2 hubs which use the Inner Bearing # LM67048 and Outer Bearing # LM11949. First is the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR which uses the Seal # 168233. This seal has an inner diameter of 1.688" and outer diameter of 2.332". The other hub is an Agricultural Hub...

  • Hub and Drum Assembly for 1 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch Axle
1 1/4" by 3/4" axles use item # LM11949 as an inner bearing and item # LM67048 outer bearing. I recommend the Redline Trailer Hub Assembly item # AH15450ECOMP. These hubs are for agricultural applications and are rated for 3,000 lbs axles and have a 4 on 5 bolt pattern. This kit is sold individually so you will need to purchase two.

  • Replacement Trailer Hub for Flat Bed Trailer with 1.25 Inner and 0.75 Outer Bearings
It sounds like your trailer uses agricultural hubs # AH15450ECOMP. This hub has the same 1.25 and 0.75 inner and outer bearings which are parts # LM67048 and # LM11949. Make sure your seals have an outer diameter of 2.332 inches and inner diameter of 1.50 inches. If this matches then part # AH15450ECOMP is the hub you need.

  • Replacement Hub for a 3/4 Inch Diameter Straight Spindle
The only hub we have that is associated with a 3/4 inch spindle is # AH15450ECOMP. This is an agricultural hub that takes inner bearing # LM67048 and outer bearing # LM11949. But the spindle it fits on is not straight, it is tapered, # TRU54FR. If this is a kit trailer then in order to replace the hubs, wheels, and tires you are going to have to replace the axle. I have included a link to the right to the straight axles and the axle-less systems that we have. The axle-less systems may...

  • Recommended Replacement Axle For Axle With Obsolete L44649 and LM11949 Bearing Combination
I have a replacement axle option for you, but unfortunately we do not carry a hub that uses inner bearing # L44649 (1-1/16") and outer bearing # LM11949 (3/4"), and I was unable to find such a hub from any other vendors. The best option is going to be replacing the axle with one that uses a more common bearing combination to make finding replacement parts now and in the future easier. Based on the bearing combination you have your axle is more than likely a 2000lb axle but you will want...

  • Replacement Axle for Old Trailer That Uses Hub Bearing L11949
Tapered roller bearing # LM11949 is typically used in agricultural hubs and mates with race # LM11910. We do offer these parts the correct grease seals # CE16305A to match your dimensions but we do not offer any hubs that use this specific bearing as both the inner and outer bearing. Your best bet is to replace the entire axle with an up-to-date kit that includes everything, such as Dexter 3500-lb axle # 35545I-EZ-89 as an example. This 89-inch axle has spring seats spaced at 74-inches...

Hello Ricky, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you have an older axle, or maybe even an agricultural hub, because the LM48548 and LM11949 bearings are pretty uncommon these days. Sadly, we do not have a replacement hub that uses these bearings. Hey Jon, thanks for the information. The only 5 on 4-1/2 hub we have that fits a spindle with item # LM11949 and item # LM67048 bearings is an idler hub. It's the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 item # DX22XR. I am sorry but we do not have a brake drum that fits your spindle.

Hey Jim, none of our bearings including the part # LM11949 come with grease applied to them so you would need to pack the hub and bearings with grease during the install. For that the LMX red grease like part # L11390 is a really great option.

From the measurements you gave me, it sounds like you have an Agricultural Spindle like # TRU54FR that uses # LM67048 Inner bearing and # LM11949 Outer bearing. For a hub assembly with a 4 on 5 bolt pattern # AH15450ECOMP will work and the bearings, seal and cap are included. I linked the parts along with a few review videos for you to reference.

That is most likely a Tie Down hub which while we don't carry that exact brand we most likely have what you need. Since the stud and bearings need replacing it might make more sense just to replace the hub since idler hubs like what you have are pretty inexpensive. • Which Grease Seal for LM11949 Bearing and LM11910 Race on Utility Trailer with No-Lug Hub
We do not have any grease seals that match your dimensions. When part numbers are not visible on the old grease seals taking measurements of the spindles themselves is the next best option. But if you took your measurements on the old grease seal this could be the reason for no match since the seals may become deformed over time. You will obtain more accurate measurements using a precision dial caliper on the spindles themselves. If you can re-check the spindle dimensions using a precision...

The Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing # 15123 and .750 inch outer bearing # LM11949, will use races # LM11910 and # 15245. For seals, that inner bearing often is used with the Grease Seals 10-36 (pair) # RG06-070 which have an inner diameter 2.250 inches of and outer diameter of 3.376. This hub is intended for 3,000-lb trailer axles with agricultural applications. The bolt pattern is also 4 on 5 so you will need to double check to see if that matches your current hub.
