Konig's Easy Fit snow chains are are just that - an easy fit. Just slide them over the tire and step on a pedal to tension them. The chains finish self-tensioning after a full tire rotation. These are excellent if you're looking for chains that are completely effortless because there's no reaching around the tire to make connections, driving forward and rechecking the tension, or crawling around on the cold, wet ground to install them. Removing the Easy Fit is just as simple - pull the red pin in the middle and push the red buttons at the bottom of the center element to release tension, then unwrap the chain from around the tire.

They're also great all-purpose winter weather chains. so if you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and incredibly easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for ultimate durability. The center tensioning element on each Easy Fit chain is made of rustproof aluminum for lasting effectiveness.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly easy and it doesn't require crawling around on the cold, wet ground to make connections, or getting out to readjust them after driving a short distance.

Pull sides of the rigid arch apart to extend wire

1. Open the rigid arch section of the chain and pull the sides apart.

Tuck the rigid arch behind the tire, starting at the top, and tug chains down

2. Drape the chain over the top of the tire and tug down to fit it all the way around the bottom. (If you're testing these on bare pavement, the red cable may not fit under your tire like it would in snow.)

Flip pedal out, step on it until it clicks

3. Flip the pedal out and step on it, pushing it down the track of the center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom.

Replace pedal into travel position and attach tensioners to side chains

4. Pop the pedal back into the locked position.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Snow Chain Recommendations for Tire Size 245/60-18
Since I don't know what year Honda CR-V you have I can't look up the owners manual to see what is recommended for tire chains. So what you can do is grab the manual and check out the snow chains section and if there are any restrictions they will be listed. I like to flip to the end of the manual and use the index at the end to find what page that will be on as that seems to be the easiest way. For your tire size of 245/60-18 the option I recommend the highest is the Konig Easy Fit Chains...

  • Tips For Installing Konig Easy Fit Tire Chains TH04115250
No, you are not doing anything wrong at all. It sounds like you have actually installed The Konig Chains # TH04115250 correctly. Since the car is parked on what I assume is concrete, it is normal for the red wire to stay on the outside of the tire. If you were to pull the vehicle forward slightly the red wire would slip into place. This is actually part of the design of these chains- they self tension as you drive. Now we do not recommend driving or even pulling the car forward while on...

  • Konig Easy Fit Tire Chains for Tires on 2021 Audi Q7 and Audi A8
Thank you for the compliment! 1. Yes, the Snow Socks # TCH70 are the same as those textile ones and the only time that we ever recommend them is never. It's pretty much like wrapping a towel around your tires and hoping for the best (oversimplification, but that's about how helpful they are). We literally only carry them because some vehicle manufacturers say to use them (I have no idea why). 2. The Konig Easy Fit chains (Thule used to own them) are definitely some of the best chains...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for Toyota RAV4 Prime XSE with Tire Size 235/55R19
The reason vehicle manufacturers will state not to use tire chains with their vehicles is due to clearance issues. So the low profile Easy Fit Chains part # TH04115250 that you referenced most likely would work great since they require minimal clearance but you'd want to check with a Toyota dealer to verify for sure. Typically if you find one near mountains or areas where chains are required for passage they'll be able to help out with that. I really like the Easy Fit chains since they...

  • Easy Install Tire Chains For 245/65R17 and 225/65R17 Tires On Different Vehicles
Currently we do not have any tires chains which will fit both your 245/65R17 and 225/65R17 tires as they are to different in width and height, so you will need to get a set for each vehicle. I recommend the Konig Easy Fit as they are so very easy to use. The Set # TH04115250 will fit the 245/65R17 while the Set # TH04115245 will fit the 225/65R17. Do be sure to check your owners manual to ensure you can use tire chains and which axle they need to be placed.

For that, the best option for chains that fit your BMW's 245/50-19 tires are from Konig, as they require just 10mm of clearance: - Konig Self-Tension, Low-Pro Snow Chains # TH04115250 The Konig # TH04115250 require you have only 10mm of clearance from the top of your tire tread to the wheel well, and also 10mm from the...

  • Best Tire Chain for 2021 Honda CRV Grand Touring with 235/55-19 Tires
It looks like the SCC RADIAL CHAIN TC2111MM doesn't have a Class S rating so any of the Konig chains would have enough clearance on your 2021 Honda CR-V because they all have that low-clearance Class S rating. For your 235/55-19 size tires we have the following self-tensioning from Konig: XG12 Pro - # TH01594250 Easy Fit 250 - # TH04115250 K Summit XXL - # TH02230K66 The XG12 Pro is more of the standard style that uses the diamond pattern and you would need to feed it behind the tire...

  • Low Clearance, Easy to Install Tire Chains for 2021 CR-V Touring Tire Size 235/55-19
We have cables that fit your tire size of 235/55-19 with the Glacier set part # PW1046. The reason cables are required is because they require a very low amount of clearance since they are thinner than most chains. Now that said the easiest to install chains that fit your tire size that also require the same low clearance would be the Konig tire chains part # TH04115250 which install in a matter of seconds and do not require you to sit or lay down in the snow to install.
