Question:
Hello. I have a 2022 BMW 130i XDrive. I live in Oregon where snow chains are required in certain areas. The Owners manual requires fine link snow chains. My tire size if 245/50-19. Can you recommend chains that meet BMWs requirements? Thank you.

Expert Reply:
Fine link tire chains is referring to clearance as opposed to the actual links themselves, so what you want are chains with the most possible clearance for your 2022 BMW. For that, the best option for chains that fit your BMW's 245/50-19 tires are from Konig, as they require just 10mm of clearance:
- Konig Self-Tension, Low-Pro Snow Chains # TH04115250
The Konig # TH04115250 require you have only 10mm of clearance from the top of your tire tread to the wheel well, and also 10mm from the inside of your tire. Apart from having the best clearance, these chains form a diamond pattern over your tire, which offers the best overall coverage, and they also have D-links, which optimize traction in both snow and ice.
Apart from that these chains are much, much easier to install than others, as the chain self-tightens so you don't have to do it manually. Just put the chains over your tires, and step on the pedal; once it clicks you have it set and are ready to go.
