Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Perfect fit and look on my 2000 Ford F350 4x4 Crew Cab. Great price, fast shipping and excellent customer service. Not noticeable from the front unless you put in a receiver plug like my NRA plug. Just make sure you watch the install video on YouTube and you have the proper tools... LOL.

Just what I needed. I have a 5th wheel with no good way to put a hitch on. I bought the front receiver to haul my bicycles in front of the truck. Works very well, Was a little bit of work getting in on the truck but fit well. With a receiver on front and rear of my truck I can use a winch on either end if needed. I would recommend for anyone with some basic skills. Some drilling required and maybe 2 sets of hands. Have used it many times and am very happy with it.

1. Not sure why the box needs to be so big for this hitch? This hitch is long and narrow, but the box looks like it’s for a 55-inch TV! What a waste. There is so much room in the box, the hitch was not secured, broke loose and penetrated the box. The hitch had some minor damage. Not worth to return it.
2. I read reviews from other web sites that this hitch and or the truck may need to be modified to get the hitch to fit. This is true for me. I had to cut and file notches on the driver’s side frame bumper plate to get the new hitch bolts to line up.
3. Overall, if it wasn’t for the modification, it would have been an easy install.

I chose this product because it was among the more inexpensive front hitches I could find. I plan to build a t-bar for it and use it in conjunction with a homemade headache rack to carry 16 foot garage doors. Like other reviews and vids I have found, the bolt up is hard. I reversed the bolts and use the new ones on the outside, as well as removing my grill. My truck is a 2003 - so not much room like the 2008 and newer trucks.

Well made heavy duty item. Easy to install. Only down fall and a reason for not 5 stars, you have to permanently remove the factory driving lights in order to mount hitch, which I did know because they listed it in the add. I would buy again and recommend to others.

by:

First time I used it, my F-250 was knee-high mud, the Draw Tite held together and with the winch pulled me out, so I need another one for my F-150. 110% Satisfied, highly recommend it.

by:

Item shipped in timely manner and in great shape. Directions were straight for word and understandable. Two bolts were hard to access behind bumper. Viedo was a great help and very useful in install of hitch. Service was great and price was right. Was very pleased with my purchase and installation. Will be used for portable winch on front of truck.

Perfect fit, don't even notice it is there. You do have to relocate your front plate if required to have one in your state. I use mine to transport (or just play music from the front) cargo carrier mounted speakers and sub. I also have a hitch mounted Superwinch and the front hitch allows me to recover from the front and rear of the truck.

by:

Very stout receiver. Haven’t finished the install yet but already saw it on another truck like mine and that’s why I purchased it. Really like the way it fits the front of this truck. Will be using it and a cycle rack to carry my 80 lb ebike.

by:

awesome fit ! Installed with ease ! will come in handy when launching boat with camper on. Highly recomend this place for all your towing needs amonst other items . Thanks Guys job well done !!!

by:

Fit perfectly. The most difficult part of the install was breaking the old bolts loose.

by:
2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Great price, and a great product.
I
plan on using it to carry a bike rack.

If you have a Powerstroke, save yourself a couple of hours of work and remove the front cross member, or recruit somebody with really thin forearms and hands to help get the two inside bolts tight.

by:

Tough! 56 pounds! Box was worse for wear, but all hardware is here. Some paint scuffed, but to go behind the bumper is aok!

by:
2000 Ford Excursion

Top quality and solid. Unfortunately, I did have to remove my stock fog lights, which is a real bummer, but I really needed a hitch up front to carry bicycles. READ the directions on this one the order is important.

by:

Installed on a 2001 Ford F-250. Relatively easy installation. It took about 8 hours to complete. The only ‘mistake’ I made was tightening down the receiver before reinstalling the tow rings. The lower edge of the receiver hitch will prevent access to the forward bolts of the tow rings. I was able to loosen the hitch enough to tighten the rings down. The hitch fits perfectly, and no new holes were needed. My only complaint is packaging of the hardware—some of it was loose in the box and I managed to lose a washer. Other than that, I’m am very happy!

by:

Good products. Hitch hides well when not in use. When I have my camper on back I can take my dirt bike on the front. Installation as shown on the videos. etrailer was easy to use and fast shipping. I will use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Works great, very helpful for placing a trailer posed to backing up a long distance.

2003 Ford Excursion

The front mount trailer hitch receiver is a great concept. I was installing it on a 2003 Ford Excursion. After reading the enclosed instructions and watching the install video a number of times, it appeared to be an easy install in theory. But in actual application, it became quite difficult to access the back of the bolts of the inner bolts that needed holes drilled to attach to existing bumper frame. It was quite difficult and impossible on one of the upper nuts, due to lack of hand or tool space, to hold the nuts for the bolts, so that I could adequately tighten the bolts to the frame. The issue is not so much with the product but it is with the space within the vehicle mounting area. In order to attempt to use the supplied handle nuts, you would need to be a mechanical engineer/contortionist to use them. Perhaps a hydraulic lift, as in the video, would make a difference. After all was said and done, it occurs to me that perhaps having the same type of backing plate that is used for the outside bolts, would work better for the inside bolts. The 4 outside bolts are torqued to the suggested lbs. I was only able to install 3 of the 4 inside bolts, and those were torqued to less than lbs. Fortunately, I will only use the front hitch to push my boat and trailer into the side yard of my home. Any words of advice from you would be greatly appreciated. Dan Bright.

Comments
Daniel,Thank you for your review. If you are not able to get the bolts torqued to spec, I recommend taking it to a shop to have it lifted and letting them torque the bolts. It is much easier to access the area where the hardware needs to be torqued while the vehicle is lifted. Even if you are not using the hitch in high capacity towing situations not torquing the bolts to spec may void your warranty with the manufacturer if the hitch were to fail.

Only thing I could say negatively is that I have to remove my front license plate to use the receiver. Not sure how to remedy that as in California, front license plates are mandatory.
Installation took some modification but with the help of another person, it went well.

by:

Not super straightforward installation and I haven’t used it yet for the intended purpose but I think I is a very beefy and well placed accessory. I think I love it!

by:
2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Delivered on time and all parts were accounted for even though the boxes were destroyed from shipping.
This unit, along with the item MX600 installed very easily and quick. I'm just bummed I have to refit or replace my OEM fog lights.

Overall I will get many miles of use from this hauling my Honda 230, now I can keep my T/T hooked up and still access the bike.

Great product, installation was a little tough as it was really hard to put the bolts and washer on. Having said that the handles on the nuts was a brilliant idea and worked very well. thank you

The product was great and the service and delivery are excellent. The only slight problem was in the video where they made the process of attaching the receiver sound easier than it was. My brother helped me and we have all the tools needed and are good at that kinda of stuff. But some of the procedures were difficult.

2003 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

watched the video before starting was helpful.. got the bumper off, tow hooks off (not sure how at ford thought having a hard as h e l l bolts to get out was funny.. BUT IT NOT.. get air impact driver if you can.)

got the hole drilled in bumper plate no problem. put a small bottle jack under the massive front blocker bar to get room to put new nuts on new screws and all.

WELL h e l l,, getting the nuts on back on passenger side was tough but doable.. trying to get new nuts on driver side,, IMfrickenPOSSIBLE.. Maybe on a lift with help and other special tools,, but for us guys that work off the garage floor or jack up the frame a bit its NOT possible to to the back of the screws to put them on..

SO the passenger side has 4 bolts and the driver side has 2,, the new ones went back on the outside hole, the ones you can get to, as we are just using a two bike hitch mounted rack.
