Video Transcript for Hands-On with the Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Stud, Drive-In, 1/2" x 1-13/16" (Qty 4)

Today we're going to take a look at these replacement drive-in trailer hub wheel studs. It's a 1/2 inch diameter, 1 13/16ths in length and a quantity of four of them. Now these 1/2 inch studs, they're designed to replace damaged wheel studs on your trailer hub. The rate spline portion right here of the stud is going to be driven or pressed into your trailer hub and this stud is what will go through the bolt along your trailer wheel and when it's used with a wheel lug nut it will hold your tire wheel to your axle. They are stamped as Grade A bolts. Again, the thread sized diameter is 1/2 an inch. It's 20 threads per inch and they do use standard 1/2 inch by 20 lug nuts.

Now I did happen to pull one of those 1/2 inch by 20 lug nuts from our warehouse and just to show you after this is installed in your hub, put your wheel up on the stud and then just go ahead and put your lug nut on there and then tighten it down and torque it to the correct specs for your application. Now I do want to give you the overall length. Now the overall length on the studs are always measured from the bottom of the head to the very end. If we put a ruler on this, it's going to be right at 1 13/16ths overall length. The threaded portion length is going to be right at 1 1/4 inches and then the spline diameter, that's the diameter of the spline here, that's the end that gets pressed into the trailer hub, the diameter of that is .61 inches. That should do it for the review of these replacement drive-in trailer hub wheel studs, 1/2 inch diameter by 1 13/16ths length and a quantity of four of them.

by:

The parts I ordered came in a very timely fashion. You have been a great source of parts allowing me to keep my trailer in good working order at a very reasonable cost. Thanks

by:

I was not able to use these. The thread cut and stud length are identical to the stud I needed to replace. What I was unaware of is that another variable is the width of the shoulder. These are too fat at the shoulder and would not set into the brake drum. I was able to have the local auto parts store take measurements and get one for me. Nothing wrong with the quality. Just no hint the shoulder was different.

by:

Needed some press in wheel studs to replace some rotten ones on an old trailer. Wasn't familiar with how many types of press in studs were around. These worked perfectly and were a breeze to install. Thanks!

by:

Perfect fit and replacement studs for my 6,000lb axle on my Walton Dump trailer. Always a good experience when ordering from etrailer.com!

by:

Parts were exactly what I needed, for 1984 W-W flatbed trailer w/electric brakes, wheel studs same as original, fit perfect, adjuster springs same as original. Couldn't be more pleased, fast shipping also.

by:

Saved my trailer. Someone (me) forgot to tighten the lugnuts after checking the bearings. Destroyed the studs. Could not find them locally anywhere. Found etrailer online, and was able to match the studs just from the pictures and descriptions on the web page. 1-13/16ths was a great clue.. only one. So this old guy thanks you for saving his trusty old trailer.

Hey Brad, there are two options you have but you will need to measure your current studs to be sure: If your existing drive in studs are 1-13/16 inches long (measurement B in picture) you will need the Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Studs, item # RG03-040. If your existing drive in studs are 2-3/4 inches long (measurement B in picture) you will need the Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Studs, item # RG03-080. Hey Mark. I don't have a database that shows me what parts came on your 2016 Keystone High Country. The Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Tire w 16" Viking Aluminum Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - LR G - Black item # A16RG8BMMFL80 is the closest option I have to what you described and what's on the brochure for your 5th wheel. • How to Determine Size of Studs on 2016 Ice Castle Trailer
I won't be able to tell you off-hand what size studs you have on your 2016 Ice Castle trailer but I can help you figure out what you have. The reason I can't just tell you, even knowing it's an 8 lug hub, is because 1/2", 5/8", and 9/16" studs are commonly used. What you can do is use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the thread diameter of your studs. For example, the Replacement 1/2" x 1-13/16" Trailer Hub Wheel Stud # RG03-040 has a thread diameter of 1/2". I have...

  • How to Remove a Stripped Wheel Stud
If the studs on your hub are drive-in studs, the most common method for removing the studs is by driving them out with a hammer. If you have a hub with an integrated drum or rotor, I recommend putting the hub flat on the ground before driving out the stud. Most trailer hubs use drive-in studs. If you have screw-in studs, I recommend using a pair of vice grips on the exposed part of the stud and try to unscrew the studs from the hub. If you find the studs to be too difficult to drive...

  • Can a Wheel That Uses 1/2 Inch Wheel Studs Be Used on a Trailer that Uses 7/16 Inch Studs
In this situation I would actually recommend just replacing the wheel studs themselves. The studs on your current hubs should be able to be knocked out, working at the front side of the hub. That way, you would be able to compare your current studs to ones offered with the 1/2 inch diameter and replace them. You can get a good idea of how the measurements are taken by looking at the diagram on the product page for 1/2 inch wheel stud # RG03-040. I am including a link to all the 1/2...
