Swapping out a worn hub doesn’t have to turn into a parts hunt. The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb axles comes complete with inner and outer bearings (L44649), matching races (L44610), a 10-9 grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. Everything’s right there in the box, ready to bolt on. It’s a straightforward fix that saves time and keeps your trailer rolling smoothly.
This hub is made from sturdy iron built to handle consistent towing with confidence. Each hub supports up to 1,000 lbs of weight capacity and fits 2,000-lb axles with BTR spindles. The solid build gives you dependable performance whether you’re hauling gear for work or heading out for the weekend.
Finding the right hub is easy thanks to its standard 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. The hub flange measures 5-1/2" in diameter and works with trailer wheels from 10"to 12 . With 1/2"wheel bolts and a grease cap flange diameter of 1.986 , it lines up cleanly with common wheel setups so installation stays simple and accurate.
Getting the right fit starts with matching your bearing numbers. If your current hub’s bearings are stamped L44649 (1.063" inner diameter), this Dexter assembly will fit your spindle correctly. That small detail makes a big difference in keeping everything properly aligned and running smooth trip after trip.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"
