NOCO GENIUS5 Smart Battery Charger Dimensions

The NOCO Genius 5-amp smart charger quickly charges and maintains your 6V and 12V lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries, using a standard household outlet. Rated for 6V and 12V batteries up to 230 amp-hours, it's a great charger for cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers, ATVs, tractors, trucks, SUVs, and boats. With 5 selectable battery profiles, multi-stage charging, and advanced safety features, this Genius smart charger makes it easy to keep your batteries in peak condition. There's even a Force Mode feature for charging dead batteries with 0-volts.

NOCO GENIUS5 Genius Battery Charger Operation

This Genius smart charger removes the frustration of having to own multiple devices to charge different battery types and vehicles. Just attach the battery clamps to the vehicle's battery terminals, select a charging mode to match your application, and wait for the LED indicator to signal that the battery is completely charged. It's that simple.

User-Friendly Interface with LED Indicators

NOCO GENIUS5 LED Charging Indicators

This Genius smart charger was designed to provide a simple, user-friendly experience. The mode button allows you to easily cycle through the unit's charge settings. Back-lit LED indicators let you verify that the unit is operating correctly, and they allow it to be easily operated at night. These indicators signal the unit's charge status, selected charging mode, and alert you to potential performance issues or errors.

NOCO GENIUS5 Smart Diagnostics Troubleshooting Explained

These indicators allow you to quickly identify a problem with the battery or connection. So you don't have to waste time guessing if the battery voltage is too high or too low for your selected mode, or worry about damage from a reversed polarity connection to a battery.

6 Battery Charging Modes

This Genius 5-amp smart charger has 6 selectable charging modes that let you quickly switch between charging different lead-acid and lithium-ion battery types at different voltages. Traditional battery chargers generally only work with a specific voltage or battery type, like lithium-ion or AGM batteries, or only in special circumstances like charging in cold environments. This Genius smart charger gives you the versatility to tackle different battery types and charging situations in one charger.

NOCO GENIUS5 Automatic Battery Charger Charging Modes Explained

The image above details the available charging profiles. The charger works with 6V and 12V wet cell, gel cell, enhanced flooded, calcium, maintenance-free, AGM, and 12V lithium-ion batteries with battery management systems (BMS).

NOCO GENIUS5 Force Mode for Charging Zero Voltage Batteries

The Genius 5-amp can detect and charge batteries that have been drained to 1-volt. And by activating the Force Mode, the charger can even charge dead batteries with 0-volts. Traditional chargers can't detect a battery when the voltage drops below a certain level. To activate Force Mode hold the mode button down for 5 seconds.

Genius Precision Battery Clamps

NOCO GENIUS5 Genius Precision Battery Clamps

The needle-nosed battery clamps included with this Genius smart charger are designed to easily connect to battery terminals of all shapes and sizes. Unlike typical, plastic battery clamps, these clamps are constructed entirely of metal, ensuring maximum conductivity. The clamps are covered with an over-molded plastic housing, which makes them easy to operate even with work gloves on. A built-in 10-amp fuse protects your connection against dangerous overloads.

NOCO GENIUS5 Battery Clamps with Eyelet Connectors

1/4" Eyelet connectors can be unbolted from the clamps for direct mounting to terminals on hard-to-reach batteries. The lie-flat design ensures maximum contact with terminals to optimize current transfer.

Quickly Charge and Maintain Batteries from 120VAC Power Source

NOCO GENIUS5 AC Plug for Wall Outlet Charging

This Genius smart charger plugs into an available wall outlet to quickly charge and maintain your battery. High-frequency switch-mode technology converts AC power into safe DC power to fully charge batteries. An onboard microcomputer monitors and controls this charging process to minimize power loss and maximize efficiency. The included mounting bracket with hook-and-loop strap lets you mount the unit in an enclosed compartment, garage, or workspace.

NOCO GENIUS5 Charging Times for Battery Sizes

The table above provides a quick reference for how long it will take the unit to charge some different battery sizes.

Rugged Weatherproof Design

NOCO GENIUS5 Rugged Weatherproof Housing

The Genius5 smart charger comes with over-molded connection points to protect the unit from dirt, dust, and water. The unit has an IP65 rating, meaning the housing is considered "dust tight" and protected against water sprayed from a nozzle. A durable X-connect plug ensures a weathertight connection when attaching the clamps to the charger.

The housing is made from tough Lexan resin that protects the internal electronics against impacts. The unit can handle being dropped, kicked over, and just about anything else your day brings.

Interchangeable X-Connect Accessories

NOCO GENIUS5 X-Connect Accessories for Versatile Charging Solutions

This Genius smart charger features a unique X-Connect plug that lets you disconnect the battery clamps and attach other X-Connect accessories (all sold separately) for versatile plug-and-play charging solutions. Add an extension cord to increase your connections reach, or use the 12V female plug to connect and power 12V accessories. Access your vehicle's battery through charging ports with the OBDII connector, or the 12V male plug. With a large variety of available accessories this battery charger can be outfitted to meet your application's specific charging needs.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

pretty expensive for a trickle charger, BUT it appears to be made from better than average materials, and it is compatible with wet cell, AGM, and even Li-ion. The battery clamps are really nice-looking, quality constructed, top grade material. It appears to me to be a really top shelf, state of the art, highly-optioned, trickle charger. 3yr warranty.

Comments
it has been working pretty much 247. Still working as advertised.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

Having used THE NOCO Genius2 battery charger for greater than 1 years, I can say that I am completely satisfied with form and function of the device. I use the charger to maintain fresh battery charge for my RV trailer. I like the compact, portability and weight of the unit. The indicator lights keep me informed of the battery charge status. I consider this purchase as one of my best purchases of all my RV gear. Thanks for an excellent product.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

I like that it's weather proof and has selectable charging. It charges car batteries quickly, but I mostly use it to charge the chassis batteries in my motorhome while it's in storage. The only negative I've found is that it doesn't handle Arizona summers, but I haven't found a charger that does. I use it for a few hours early in the morning and that seems to be sufficient. I installed the NOCO eyelet terminal accessory on each set of batteries.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

The Noco G1100 is one of four items I purchased from etrailer to make a portable 12 volt power pack for camping. I wanted to make my own power pack because many available do not have the power I want, have gimmicky features I do not want, and the batteries are not usually user-replaceable. Noco’s X-connect feature made this very easy. I also ordered a HM082BKS box for a U1 type battery, a GC010 12 volt female connector (cigarette lighter type), a GC013 male-to-male coupler, and a GC004 10 foot extension. From elsewhere I purchased a 35 amp/hour U1 battery with screw terminals (Interstate DCM0035) to fit in the box. I unscrewed the battery clamps from the charger output cable which left ring terminals I then attached directly to the battery. Leaving this part attached to the battery, the X-connect feature allows me to: (1) hook up the charger to the battery, or, (2) with the GC013 coupler, attach the female connector for camping. I expect to use this power pack for my CPAP, which can run directly from 12 volts DC (without an inverter), and eventually other items, such as a 12 volt TV. I can also power and charge USB devices with a USB adapter/charger which plugs into the 12 volt female connector. I’ll be testing the setup during an upcoming trip but have no reason to doubt it will work as expected. Of course, you could do the same thing with a bigger battery with the proper charger and battery box. The X-Connect feature is great and I should not have to open the box until I need to replace the battery. I have attached pictures which show (1) the charger attached to the battery, (2) 12 v female connector connected to the battery with the male coupler, and, (3) the unit ready for travel. The little dust cap from the X-Connect is attached to the battery box strap.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

Contacted etrailer.com about charging K2 Energy Lithium Ion marine batteries. They took the time to contact NOCO Genius chargers to get me the correct answers. NOCO said absolutely that this would be the correct charger for lithium ion marine batteries. I am now confident that my investment of Lithium batteries will get the correct charge they require. The NOCO genius charger is lighter and smaller than my previous charger allowing more room and less weight in my boat.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

Not sure why they chose the name "Genius" since it turns out I had to do a fair bit of button pushing to set it to charge my 6v battery. It also runs very hot. Supposedly, however, it will remember that setting next time. Finally, The instructions are not only poorly written, they're printed in a very small font. I normally do not have to use a magnifying glass to read instructions. There's plenty of room in the elaborate packaging so I cannot understand why they couldn't have made it much bigger. Not sure this item was the best choice for maintaining my batteries.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

I have ordered a few products from etrailer and have been very satistfied with the products and customer service. The latest product I recieved was the NOCO Genius UltraSafe Battery Charger with JumpCharge Engine Start. As soon as I recieved it I hooked it up to my RV batteries to begin a trickle charge. Just looking at the features on the product it has a lot of capabilities. So far it is working great on the 12V cold battery charge. I am particularly happy with, and a little surprised, how quick etrailer responds to my questions, how helpful they have been, and how quickly I recieved all of the items I have ordered. I highly recommend checking out etrailer for any of your trailer needs.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

Because of great demands on marine batteries these days with electronics and trolling motors, it is important to maintain their voltages when not in use. The Noco Genius Smart Battery Charger-2 amp not only charges the battery back up but also maintains it so you are always ready to go. Built for marine conditions this little charger takes up miniumum space and is easy to use with nicely made gator clips and a long detachable cord making connecting time a snap. Bright LED lights let you know where this trickle charger is in the cycle and flashes a green light when done and in maintenance mode. The instruction booklet is helpful but use a magnifier to catch all the details in the fine print. Everyone needs this little device to keep 12 volt batteries fresh and ready to go and e-Trailer has one for your car or recreational need!

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

First time owning a NOCO Genius charger, and I'm very happy with it. It's nice having alligator clips and eyelet connectors for charging. I use this to charge my second battery in my vehicle, as a supplement charge. I don't drive far enough for it to top off my the battery with the current dual battery charger. So I use this every couple weeks to do so. I also use this to top off my house battery in my trailer. It provides a fast charge time, no matter what battery I use. And I love how it has different options on the charger like 12v or 24v charge, AGM, repair, etc. I have a variety or batteries, so I don't need different chargers with one. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

I had a 2 year old 12amp 3 bank Noco on my boat before purchasing the larger size 30amp 3 bank charger. After removing the old charger and installing the new one and hooking everything up and powering. The new charger alerted me that one of my batteries had a error code. To make sure it wasn’t the charger I switched the banks and it still gave me a error code. In short...I took the old batteries back to where I bought them. I was in luck because the batteries would of been out of warranty in 4 days saving me $250.00 in replacing them out of warranty...So the new charger saved me the replacement cost so in hind sight this charger was free. Couldn’t be happier with this purchased. Thanks to Etrailer for the super fast delivery time!

Review from a similar NOCO Genius in Battery Charger

This is my second trickle charger of the same make and model. I like to slow charge various batteries that I use occasionally. ( dump trailer battery , horse trailer brake battery , and a spare starting battery) This charger gets the job done and is a quality product.

Comments
The charger has been real handy over the last year. I like the small size and keep it in my truck to trickle charge various batteries that need charging. Real handy for charging equipment batteries in the off season.

Ask the Experts about this NOCO Battery Charger

  • Can I use the Noco Genius5 while my trailers own converter remains connected to the battery?
I reached out to my contact at NOCO and they do not recommend having your trailer charger/converter charging the battery at the same time as the NOCO is charging the battery. They feel it could overcharge and damage the battery. I did not mention that you already had concerns about your old charger overcharging. When your onboard charger is not working the NOCO would be an excellent way to keep your battery charged as it will turn off/on as needed to keep the battery topped off. I don't...

One way you could charge the battery to power the dump trailer is using a NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5. This battery charger maintains...

  • Can Two 12 Volt Batteries Connected in Parallel be Charged Through a Switch Using a NOCO Charger
You can charge 2 batteries when they are connected in parallel using a battery charger such as # 329-GENIUS5. However, it will take longer to charge the batteries when they are connected compared to if you were to charge each one separately. The best battery charger to use for charging batteries in parallel would be # 329-GENIUS10. It has a higher amperage output and will charge faster. I have included a link to our FAQ article on battery chargers for you.

  • Can 12 Volt Accessory Circuit on a 7-Way Trailer Connector be Used to Maintain a Deep Cycle Battery
The 12 volt accessory circuit on a 7-Way can maintain a battery, it just will not be able to charge it. Since we are talking about maintaining a charge, a regulator will not be needed since the 12 volt accessory circuit does not have the capacity to charge the battery. So it will not overcharge any of the cells. Since a deep cycle battery is designed to discharge most of its charge at once, I would recommend connecting the 12 volt accessory circuit first to a 40 amp circuit breaker,...

  • How Should 2 6-Volt Batteries Connect to 12 Volt Inverter
I attached a picture that shows how 6 volt batteries need to be wired to be able to connect to a 12 volt inverter. You would need the output to be 12 volts and not 6. I recommend the charger # 329-GENIUS5 for your application because it can be used for your batteries individually or banked together as we've been discussing.

  • Can 7-Way Trailer Connector On 2014 Ford F-350 Be Used To Charge Trailer Battery
The wiring on a trailer connector is too small to charge a battery on your trailer. It can only maintain the charge level of the battery. You can use a circuit tester like part # 40376 to make sure the pin in the 1:00 position when looking at the connector 7-way trailer connector has current. You will then need to make sure the correct pin on the trailer connector is going to battery via a 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 on the trailer. This would provide a maintenance charge to the...

  • Can a Battery Charger be Used to Charge a Deep Cycle Battery While Using Lighting in a Trailer
Yes, you can use the NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5, to charge a battery while using the lights in the trailer. One thing to keep in mind is that the battery charger will not be able to keep up with the lighting use in the trailer and the battery will eventually be drained if the battery is already severely depleted. It will not harm the charger. A better option is a charger that has a supply mode. The CTEK MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger w/...

  • How to Run Maintenance Charge From Tow Vehicle to Trailer Battery
People run maintenance charges through the 7-ways of the vehicle and trailer all the time exactly like how you described. A 10 gauge wire basically like part # 10-1-1 run from the battery of the vehicle to the battery of the trailer will give you a maintenance charge as you are towing. This is the easiest and most effective way to do this and you don't need a charger anywhere on the line. This charge will only be whatever your alternator is putting out that isn't being used by your vehicle...

  • Can NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer Charge Batteries Wired in Parallel
Our battery chargers like the NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5 that you referenced can be used to charge a battery bank wired in parallel as long as the output voltage is 12 volts. You'd run the charge wires of this to the main output terminals you use on both batteries for the power and ground and you'd be set.

  • Does 12 Volt Power Circuit of Trailer 7-Way Have Ability to Charge Dead Battery
The 12 volt power circuit of any vehicle's 7-way can only put a trickle charge on a trailer battery to maintain it. If you have a dead trailer battery you'd need to use a charger like the NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5 to get it where it needs to be and then let your trailer wiring keep it maintained.

  • What Charger to Use for 6-Volt Golf Cart Batteries
It is possible to use a 12-volt battery charger like the NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5 that you referenced with 6-volt batteries only under specific conditions. Two batteries at a time can be given a maintenance charge from a 12-volt charger provided they are wired in series to present a 12-volt load to the charger. They also have to be in good condition and fully charged to do this. You cannot charge depleted 6-volt batteries with a 12-volt charger. My...

  • Does Battery Amperage Double When Batteries are Wired In Series or Parallel
When you wire two batteries in series the voltage doubles but the amperage stays the same. So two 6 volt, 10 amp batteries in series is still 10 amps. It's when you wire batteries in parallel (voltage stays same) that the amperage doubles.
