Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Dexter Brake Line Tee with Mounting Bracket

Today in our boat trailer, we're using a Titan brake line T with a mounting bracket, part number T0778500. Here's our T fitting that we're using. We're going to secure out T fitting right here versus somewhere else because we're going into metal. We don't want to go over into the wooden bulkhead right here, because this is a boat trailer and wood will tend to rot out and have to be replaced at some point. We'll go right here and install this with a self-capping screw. That gives us a nice solid connection point for our hoses to mount to. All right, now we'll take our six foot section that goes over to our passenger's side.

Screw it in right here. Then we'll take our two foot hose here. Screw it into the caliper and then our T fitting. All right now we'll snug up all of our connections. We want to make sure we have it snug, but not over tightened.

That way, we can check for leaks properly, and if we need to tighten them, we can. Okay, with everything done here, we can plug our line in. It goes to the master cylinder up front. Right here. We'll take our long hose that we're going to take to the front.

Screw it into the side of our T fitting here. Start snugging this down. That's probably good. That completes the installation of the Titan brake line T with a mounting bracket. Part number T0778500..

Disappointed, Tee block came loose from bracket on the two I used. I ended up only using one. I removed it from my trailer, and pressed it back on and used a punch to stake or peen the brass to stay in the bracket. Brass tee was fine, but assembly did not hold up during installation, I can't imagine it would hold up on a bumpy road.

Really nice add on, helps on boat trailers especially. Like the support that it has, being attached. Zip ties work, I personally like more things fixed.

I ordered 2 fittings, and one of the brake line T's separated from the bracket, don't think it was installed properly. it came apart with ease.

The Tee shipped was machined poorly and had defects that rendered it unusable. Bad on Dexter as this is the second Dexter Tee I have found to be defective.

Part is loose. I think once tubing is attached it be okay. shipping was on a long voyage.

This broke off the bracket as I was assembling it. Seems to be poorly made, I doubt it would last long against any stress of regular use.

I didn't give this unit 5 stars because it would not lock in place. one little touch and it would easily pop out so I added a clamp to the frame to keep the lines secure.

  • Does Titan Brake Line Tee Secure Trailer Brake Lines
    Indirectly yes, the part # T0778500 does get used with brake hoses. If you check out the attached picture you'll see that holds a union tee that hoses run to. We do have clamps that were designed to secure brake lines like with the part # A0500 for 1/2 inch and # A0250 for 1/4 inch. We also have clips, # T0936600, for more brake line support.

    So on the replacement bleed port # KBPBB with a 1/4 inch -28 screw and 1/8 inch adapter. But I am not sure how you would use it as a tee. Adapter port # K22590A has 1/8" NPT and 3/16" FIF threads and might be a better option depending on the brake line size.     I spoke with my contact at Titan and he informed me that this Titan Brake Line Tee, part # T0778500, has an inverted flare seat at the base of the fitting, and it is designed for use with a flared brake line or hose. He also informed me that the thread size and pitch is 3/8 inch x 24 national fine thread, and you would need a male fitting of that size to match the orifices.   • Troubleshooting Kodiak Brake Line Brass Tee Fitting Leaking
    Usually when we see leaking on a brass fitting like the tee from the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 18SI-BLKIT it is due to overtightening. Start by hand tightening, then take it around 2-3 rotations with a wrench. After that check for leaks and tighten more if needed. It shouldn't be necessary but you could always use Loctite Thread Sealant 545 # LT37482 if you can't get the leak to stop.
