Question:
I have a triple axle aluminum boat trailer. My boat is approx 8,000lb with no gear or fuel. I want to convert to electric over hydraulic. What parts do I need? What is the best electric actuator availible? BTW..Only two of the axles have disc brake. The calipers are Kodiak 225. I need to get brakes on the third set of axles. Thanks,

Sounds like you have a surge brake coupler on your trailer currently and are looking for a way to convert it to an electric over hydraulic setup and then also add brakes to your third axle.
The electric over hydraulic actuator I like the best is the Cargo Towing Solutions HydraStar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HBA16. This actuator has proven to be very reliable and rarely has problems.
The Kodiak 225 caliper that you have on your other axles is a very common caliper that is used on brake axles that are from 3,500 lb to 6,000 lb in capacity. First let's figure out the brake line components needed to add the third axle.
You are going to need 2 of the Tee part # T0778500, 2 of the retaining clips # T0936600, 2 of the # T1062200, 2 of the brackets # T0776300, 2 of the clips # T0776400, and 2 of the hoses # T0776500. See the attached pic to see how all of the components go together.
Now to pick out a disc brake kit you are going to need to know the weight capacity of the axles you have and the bolt pattern of the wheels you have. The axle capacity will be listed on the plate up near the coupler of the trailer. I attached an FAQ on determining bolt patterns for you to check out as well. Let's say you have 3,500 lb axles and have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. You would want the # K2R35D. This kit uses slip on rotors that will fit on you idler hubs.
