Flexible Rubber Brake Hose

This Kodiak brake hose is made of rubber, making it a practical choice for a variety of applications. Because you can easily bend it, a rubber hose is simpler to work with than a rigid stainless steel brake line. This flexibility makes a rubber hose great for use with foldaway trailer tongues because it is less likely to kink or break when bent. In addition, rubber hoses allow for a wide range of motion so articulating parts can effectively function. These qualities make rubber hoses better suited than steel lines for trailers with torsion axle suspension systems and trailers that have disc brakes.

Stainless steel brake lines have braided exteriors, which can not only wear against exterior surfaces, but also against the interior lining of the hose if dirt gets underneath the steel braid. And if the braid on a stainless steel line tears, it can cut into the hose lining. The exterior surface of this hose is solid rubber, so there are no crevices for debris to enter.

Durable Fittings with Deep Threads

Kodiak Hose Flare

Kodiak brake hoses have corrosion-resistant brass fittings with stainless steel flares. These fittings have a gap built into them that allows room for a line wrench - also called a flare nut wrench - to slide over the line and down to the nut. This type of wrench grips the nut better than a standard open-ended wrench so there is less chance of stripping the threads as you tighten down the nut.

The stainless steel that is used to create the flares on this hose is stronger than brass. As a result, these fittings are more durable than ones made entirely of brass. The stainless flares are primarily designed to keep the fittings from splitting when you tighten them down, but they offer absolute rust protection as well.

Kodiak's fittings have deeper threads than many other fittings on the market to provide a higher thread engagement. Deeper threads offer an advantage when used with fittings that have the same thread depth. These Kodiak fittings will work with most fittings on the market, but when they're used with other Kodiak fittings, the result is a stronger connection with fewer leaks.

Gentlemen, no fault of yours, but I had purchased for drums and for brake assemblies unfortunately, my first trip to put my boat in the water saltwater mind you believe it or not the next day they were all rusty I should have purchased galvanize what is your opinion? i’ve always had excellent product and good service with etrailer PS I will still shop at your facility. Thank you.

To be honest saltwater is hard on brakes and drums. Ideally switching out to disc brakes with stainless steel brakes would be the best however that would mean switching out coupler and brakes which would be expensive. You could go with galvanized 3500-pound brakes like part # AKFBBRK-35-D and if you have a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern then you can also use part # AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K for hubs. It will give better protection than just the basic e-coat, however will not last forever.

Still going strong after a year.

I went to two of the three auto parts stores in our little town thinking that a plain brake hose could be had. Turns out that brake hoses these days are all model specific and the clerks politely refused to help me without a part or model #. So I searched the internet and finally found exactly what I wanted here at etrailer. Not only that but the price was very fair and shipping cost was surprisingly low. Delivery was prompt and the after sale follow up from the folks at etrailer gives me chuckle...I ain't never seen this kind of "takin' care of business" for a little $26 order like mine was. This e-business is a "favorite".

Great!!! Well, wish I could give a more definitive report, but the fact is that these parts were installed on a boat trailer and the trailer was used to fetch the boat at a hundred miles distance and now has been sitting in the drive way ever since, due to winter. Will soon be moving it around a bit.

by:

The two hoses that I ordered fits absolutely perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I checked local auto parts dealers and none had what I needed. Thank you so much for your outstanding service and reliability. I have your internet page my saved on my computer so if I ever need anything else you can be assured I'll come to you.

ITEM WORKS GREAT ON MY GOOSENECK TILT TRAILER . SOMEONE HAD USED A STEEL LINE IN ITS PLACE
THANK YOU R.J.S

by:

Very well designed hose. The short stainless tube connectors on either end are easier to connect than a hose that terminates with brass fitting alone.

by:

This part is very good quality. I used it to replace a piece of brake line that had a flex coupler built into it on a 1999 Dodge Caravan.

  • Option for Getting 21 Foot Long Flexible Brake Line Section
If you need a section of flexible brake line that is longer than the # bh-3mfs-20 you would want the part # bh-3mfs-24 which is 24 feet long instead. I wish we had a 21 foot long section but you would either need to use the 24 foot section or add a 1 foot section to the 20 foot section with part # bh-3mfs-1.

  • PSI Capacity of Kodiak Trailer Hydraulic Brake Hose
According to my contact at Kodiak Trailer, their # BH-3MFS-1 Rubber Brake Hose has a minimum psi rating of 3,000 lbs. To put that in perspective the Drum brake master cylinder will put out between 1,000 and 1,200 psi and the disc brake systems 1,600 psi.

  • Replacing Hydraulic Brake Line and 90-Degree Fitting on Trailer
As long as clearance isn't an issue you can certainly do away with the existing 90-degree fitting like what's included with # BH-3MFS90-1-5 and go with a straight fitting right to the caliper instead. We do have a shorter 1 foot brake line available with the Kodiak part # BH-3MFS-1. This flexible rubber line features 3/16 inch brass fittings on each side and the hose itself has a 1/8 inch inner diameter. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.

You can click on the linked page to see our brake lines and brake line kits for boat trailers. You'll first select either disc or drum brakes using the filters on the page. We offer brake lines on their own, such as the 1-foot line # BH-3MFS-1 from Kodiak that uses 2 standard male flare nut fittings or their 6-foot # BH-3MFS-6. Lengths up to 24-feet are offered, part # HS496-252 which is for tandem-axle drum brakes. We do not offer quick-disconnect type fittings.

  • Replacement Brake Line/Hose for Dexter 8K Disc Brake Axle
There are several brake lines in varying lengths and sizes between your disc brake assembly and the surge brake coupler on your trailer. I am not sure which one you are looking for but if you can pinpoint this for me I may have some better advice for you. In the meantime, I have attached for you a photo that shows what brake lines go to and from a disc brake assembly and surge brake coupler on a tandem axle trailer. • Rubber Versus Steel Brake Lines for Electric Over Hydro Conversion on Single Brake Axle Trailer
As an installer, I much prefer rubber lines as they are easier to use. The steel lines are more durable but I can't say I've ever had a trailer we worked on come back with a broken rubber hose either. The steel lines are very hard to work with and if you want it to look decent you'll have to cut the lines to your exact length and flare on the fittings again. If you're experienced with brake lines and have the time to do it right and make it look nice then the steel lines work well but even...

  • Replacement 18 Inch Long Brake Line with Male and Female 3/16 Inch Fittings
For a replacement brake line I recommend the Titan Hydraulic Brake Line with Fittings # T0776500. This brake line is 18-25/32" long, has a male and female end, and has 3/8"-24 UNF fittings. The thread size on 3/16" fittings is 3/8"-24 so this will be the same as the hose you have now. I have attached a review video for your reference.

  • How to Pick Out Replacement Slip On Rotor, Caliper and Brake Line for Trailer
Sounds like you have an over-the-hub style of disc brake setup on your trailer. To pick out the correct replacement rotors will require you to measure the diameter of the rotors you currently have and know the bolt pattern of the hubs as well. With that info you can check out the link I attached to see all of the over the hub rotors we offer. To pick out the correct replacement caliper will require you to know the brand of your current brakes so that I can pick you out the correct one....

  • Do Brake Lines Need To Be Bled After Removing The Line From The Actuator
If you have a hardline connecting to the actuator then you would not want to bend it back and forth since that will weaken it and end up breaking the line. Removing the line from the actuator will introduce air back into the line so you would need to bleed the lines every time you disconnect the line. I've attached a help article below that will walk you through the steps of bleeding the brake lines. If your frame has enough space you could cut the hard line back a bit and use a flexible...

  • Trailer Hopping With Empty Trailer After Installing Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Actuator 099-175-00
Correct; since the trailer is currently empty, there is going to be some hopping of the wheels, and it would not have to do with the install of the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator - Drum Brakes - 2" Ball - Zinc Plated - 7,500 lbs # 099-175-00. Once you have a loaded trailer, the weight on the trailer will stop or greatly minimize any of the hopping you are experiencing.

The ends of brake hose # T0776500 are fixed and do not swivel. We also have hose # 18018-SF with a 90 degree bend on one end and the thread piece separate. Kodiak hose # BH-3MFS-1-5 has swivel fittings on both ends and it is 18 inches long so it may be the best option for you.
