Video Transcript for Timken L68111 Replacement Race: The Breakdown

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Timken replacement race. Now, this is a high quality L68111 race that is going to work with all of the bearing models that you see there on your screen. So if you are needing to replace a race for any of those bearings that you see there on your screen, this is going to be a really great option for you to consider. And because this is a Timken product, you can trust that this is going to be of a really superior, really great quality. If you're not familiar, Timken is one of the most well-known and highly trusted brands in the industry because their products are engineered with higher quality controls that's going to ensure tighter tolerances and run out better than other manufacturers.

So that's going to help reduce your vibrations and noise and lead to a longer life when this is properly installed. And the higher quality is even evident in the way that this race becomes individually packaged and oiled, so that when it arrives, it's going to be in great condition ready for you to install this. And that's why I'm wearing gloves because this does come already oiled for you. Now, this does use the industry standard number that you see right here, printed on this race, L68111, and that's gonna be a very simple way for you to confirm that this is the actual race that you are going to need to replace. You just wanna look for this number on the current race that you're needing to replace.

However, if you don't see that number on your race, the only other way to properly verify that this is going to fit your application is to measure the outside diameter. And that's going to be a very exact measurement. So I would recommend using some digital calipers as I have right here, and you want some calipers that's gonna go down to a thousandth of an inch. So I'm going to see if I can line this up here for you. So you can see measuring the outside diameter.

Let me bring that into frame there. So as you can see, we're sitting at that measurement of 2.3612 of an inch. Again, 2.3612 of an inch. So it's going to be a very precise measurement, but if you can find this number printed on your original race, this is going to make it much easier for you to verify that this is going to work for you. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today.

I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

While replacing bearings and races on my 2006 Triton 190FS trailer, single axle 3500 lbs, I used a CE Smith bearing, race, and seal kit that included an outer race with part number L68111. I could see the bearing numbers on the old equipment but could not find a number stamped on the old race. I spent two hours or more, hammering, heating, and freezing to no avail. The old and new races appeared to be the same size, but the new one just would not go in. Finally, I used a digital micrometer to check the diameter and decided the new one was 1mm larger than the old one. I searched the internet but could find no explanation until I stumbled on the solution in an eTrailer FAQ section which pointed out that the older hubs needed an L68110 inner race. Shipping was fast, price reasonable, and the cooled race went in easily. I'm grateful for the information provided in eTrailer's site.

  • Recommended Replacement Hub, Rotor, and Bearings for a Integral Knott Rotor
Hey Frank, I looked up that rotor and it looks like it's a 10" rotor with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. That being said, you can use the Kodiak 10" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly # KHR10D as a replacement, with the Grease Seal # RG06-050, the Timken Replacement Trailer Wheel Bearing # TMK49FR and the Timken L68111 Replacement Race # TMK73FR.
