When you’re towing heavy and your old brakes start to fade, this Kodiak disc brake kit brings a big jump in performance. The 13" over-the-hub rotors fit 8 on 6-1/2 bolt patterns with 1/2" wheel bolts, delivering stronger, more consistent braking than drums even at highway speeds. Each cast iron caliper uses a 2-1/2" stainless steel piston and ceramic brake pads for high torque and smooth, equal braking every time.
Saltwater and road grime can eat through unprotected metal fast, but these assemblies are built for it. Every major component—rotor, caliper, and ductile iron bracket—is Dacromet plated and rated for 300- to 400-hour salt spray protection. That means they’ll hold up through launches, wet roads, and storage without flaking or seizing up. It’s a marine-grade finish designed for lasting performance in fresh or saltwater use.
Long downhill runs or heavy loads can build heat quickly. The vented cast iron rotors on this kit pull air through the core to keep temperatures in check and prevent heat-related damage. Less heat means less fade and longer pad life, so braking stays steady mile after mile.
You don’t have to rebuild your hubs to make the upgrade. The slip-on design fits over standard idler hubs and is held in place by your wheels and bolts—no redrilling or special tools required. The 5-bolt ductile iron brackets mount securely with included stainless steel caliper bolts, making it a straightforward install for anyone comfortable with basic trailer work.
This kit includes two complete brake assemblies rated for 7,000-lb axles (#42 spindles) and wheels 16" or larger. The low-drag, self-adjusting calipers retract farther than standard models for cooler operation and less wear between trips. With fewer moving parts than drum brakes and a solid cast iron construction that won’t flex, it’s a durable setup designed for dependable stopping power season after season.

I want to thank you again for your assistance in getting me the correct parts for my trailer brake installation. I took three major road trips with the boat last year and the trailer brakes worked flawlessly. The major reasons I installed the braking system were: the overall weight of the boat and trailer in relationship to my pickup 2006 F150 and braking performancesafety on wetslick roads. Both of these concerns were tested last year with wonderful results. I have been telling my friends, with similar trailer packages, to investigate your product. Thanks again,

Been a year, brakes are so responsive and work so much better will never rely on the old way further. Still working great, never any problem and have never experienced any fade. Switch now and enjoy the added safety.

Sorry about that. I will see if I can get that added to the page to make it clear. Typically the bolts from the previous brakes are used to install the brackets, but it should be made clear that they aren't included with the new parts. What kind of trailer did you install these on?

Disc brake installation went smooth and easy. It would have been better to have the adapter plate mounting hardware. One think to note about these Kodiak disc brakes, the bleeder valve is a two part valve. Be sure to open the 516 hex bleeder screw and not the 38 screw in bushingseat.

Hey Daniel. I'm sorry to hear that the package arrived in such rough condition. That is not what we want our neighbors to experience. I'm going to get this taken care of for you.
