Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Kodiak 13" Rotor

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Kodiak 13" Dacromet finish rotor with the 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern for 7,000 lb axles. Now this is a slip on over the hub rotor. Makes it very easy to convert your idler axle to a disc brake axle. It's designed to fit over a standard idler hub and it's held in place by the wheel and wheel bolts. It is a cast iron construction, which ensures a favorable friction coefficient for necessary stopping power. This rotor here has a Dacromet plating to it, which provided superior corrosion resistance for fresh water or salt water use.

It has a $300 to $400 salt spray rating. If you notice on the rotor it's a vented design, which will effectively dissipate the heat, prevents any heat related damages. And what's nice about the slip on rotors, there's no need to replace your entire hub and rotor assembly if only the hub or the rotor becomes damaged. Now the distance from hub face to hub face will increase by approximately 1/2". This part is made in the U.S.A. A few specs on it again, this is designed for axle capacity of 7,000 lbs.

The wheel size that will work on this is 16" and larger. The bolt pattern is an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. Outer diameter on this rotor from edge to edge is 13". The inner diameter portion, which is measured inside to inside here is 9" and the bold hold diameter is 1/2". But that should do it on the review on the Kodiak 13" Dacromet finish rotor with the 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern for 7,000 lb axles..

Boat trailer caliper was seized and causing the brakes to overheat. Headed over to etrailer.com since they seem to have the best part selection and easiest website to navigate.

I purchased a caliper that came with pads pre-installed (https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Kodiak/KDBC225DAC.html) and a rotor (https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Kodiak/KR12D.html).

Installation went smoothly. I'll be back for the other side when it's time.

Easy product search process. Easy order process. Fast delivery.

These rotors replaced an identical set from the OEM on a WESCO dual axle trailer. Unfortunately, my brake pads disintegrated and scored the rotors after two years of salt water use, but these rotors seem like great quality and were very easy to replace. I used anti-seize for this job. Highly recommended, especially if you dip them in salt water at all.

by:

you had all the parts to completely rebuild my trailer brakes to new condition. As it is a salt water trailer, they are holding up very well. Thanks for being here and your good service

by:

Exactly what I needed and great quality! Ordered the rotor on Sunday and it arrived Tuesday. Great service.

by:

great products, great service, fast delivery.

I was not sure where to look for these types of parts, but e-trailer has been a super provider of items for the truck, so i looked at them for these parts. they had a good selection, the website helped give confidence in ordering the right part and prices are very fair.

by:

  • How To Pick The Right Replacement Rotors For Your Disc Brake Assembly
Hi Erik, I'd be happy to help you find the right replacement rotor for your trailer, I just have a few questions so I can narrow down our search: Are you looking for a slip-on rotor or a hub and rotor assembly? If you need a hub and rotor assembly what are your bearings and grease seal? What is your axle capacity? What is your tire size? What is your wheel bolt pattern? What diameter wheel studs do you have?
