by:

I have always made my own adjuster but these adjusters are great.
Etrailer's delivery is extremely fast. Thanks.

by:

No problems here. Bought this w/ the tire chain and they easily fit in the bag that came w/ the tire chains. Haven't used them yet but they look to be good!

by:

Product is hard to get wrong. Good thick rubber cord with stainless steel hooks to help relieve any slack on your chain/cable assembly.

by:

Glacier Rubber AdjustersPerfect product with great service. I got the product in quickly and it fit perfectly. I would recommend etrailer to friends and family. If I ever need anything like this again, I know where I will go to purchase them.

by:

The chains came quickly and as described. etrailer.com even upgraded the shipping for me at no extra cost!!

by:

They didn’t even last a winter, and cracked, broke off.

by:

I tried them on; and they fit well. I'll be ready for my subdivision's icy conditions next time. Thanks for the rapid service, and here are some photos from the test today; though you may not want to use the tension photo, because the clips should have been rotated to the next section

by:

These are real heavy duty adjusters. Unless you have 12 to maybe 14 inch wheels, go with the 16-20 inch size. I installed them on a 16 inch Dodge Dakota wheel and the rubber is very difficult to stretch across the wheel, let alone make the other three attachments.

I really like the chains, they are so much easier and lighter than thechains of my younger years. However, I still feel the same about theadjusters. They are much too small andor not flexible enough, making itvery difficult to stretch them, even just across the wheel. My wife wouldnever be able put them on should the need arise. I suggest you find adifferent supplier for that product or a different brand.

by:

These worked very well for the chains that I bought last year. I drive a 1998 4Runner Limited with 16" rims. It took a little bit of practice centering the chains on the tire so definitely do so before you get a bunch of snow. If it seems like this tensioner is too tight, doublecheck that the chains are positioned on the tire correctly and not too far in toward the wheel well.

by:

Bought this product to replace bungee cords to keep my snow chains tight. They work great. The tensioners fit easily inside my chain bag so every thing is kept together. Great product, I recommended them to a couple of my buddies.

by:

Went to new style chains. Too difficult to put on when it's snowing and not ideal conditions (like a nice dry garage or driveway). the tensioners are to stiff in the winter and my wife cannot install correctly. Would not recommend the chains OR the tensioners.

by:

I ordered three sets of chains. One for my van, one for my small truck and one for my big truck. The chains with the cams are very nice and easier to deal with. Don't buy the rubber rings with hooks that is used to keep the chain centered, it is cheap and will not last the winter. Buy the short rubber straps at any hardware, they work perfectly. These are adequate chains for moderate use.

by:

These are an absolute necessity for tire chain applications whether you use traditional chain-link, or cable chains for your vehicle. Excellent quality rubber with great steel hook construction makes these a terrific addition to your winter weather gear for your automobile.

  • Can Tire Chains Be Used On a 2015/2016 Subaru Forester or 2017 Subaru Outback?
The Thule Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains, # TH2004205104, will give you enough clearance because they will adjust tension and not just have slack in the chain. If you are concerned about the seeming contradicting information, you could go with a cable chain like Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, # PW1042. With these style chains, spring rollers are wrapped around sturdy wire cross cables. With this product, Rubber Adjusters like # PW100 are recommended. In the Owner's Manual...

  • Is It Required To Use Bungee Cords, Chain Tensioners And Or Rubber Adjusters When Using Snow Chains
Using bungee cords, chain tensioners or rubber adjusters isn't a requirement but certainly recommended. Rubber adjusters such as # PW99, # PW100 will make it easier to fit and tighten snow chains like the Glacier snow chains # PW2028C you referenced. The reason manufacturers recommend the rubber adjuster # PW99 or # PW100 (depending on tire size) is because the Glacier tires chains # PW2028C doesn't have an automatic tensioner. Always check your vehicle owner's manual first to ensure...

  • Should Tire Chains be Put on Both Wheels or Just Outer Wheels on a Dually Axle
You can install tire chains on either both tires or just the outer tire on a dually set of tires (per side). Having chains on both will provide the best traction but it is a little more difficult to install them. The distance of the trip isn't as important as the road conditions and the type of terrain. In heavy snow or ice or steep grades, I would put chains on all the tires of a dually axle. If you can tell me the tire size I can determine which chains will fit. I have included a link...

  • Should I Use Snow Chains when I am Plowing Snow
For optimum traction, you will want to have chains on all four tires of your truck when you are plowing. Having chains on one axle would help, but would not be as beneficial. However, you should note that if you are using chains there is a chance you will damage the road beneath you as the chains dig through the snow into the the pavement or concrete. If potentially damaging the road beneath you is not a concern, I would strongly recommend you use chains as you will get increased traction,...

  • Cable Style Snow Tire Chains for P225/75-16 Tires
A tire size of 225/27-16 like you indicated in your question then that would mean it has an overall diameter of 20.78 inches compared to the 29.29 diameter of a 225/75-16. If you meant LT225 vs P225 (/75-16 for both) then you can use use the appropriate size chains for both types of tire but some are better suited for one style or the other. For a P225 you would want to go with chains # PW1042 because they are better suited for passenger vehicle tires as opposed to light truck (LT) tires....

We do have numerous tire chains that will fit the 205/50-17 tire size. I have included a link to all of the available options. The TC1038 cables you referenced will fit well. I also recommend adding rubber adjusters, # PW99 for cars or # PW100 for trucks and SUVs, to make installation easier and to keep the chains taught on the tire. I have included a link to a video showing how the rubber adjusters work. You will also want to check your vehicle owners manual to determine if chains can...

  • Snow Chains or Cables Recommendation for a 2011 Ford Escape AWD with 235/70-16 Tires
The Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, # PW2029C, would be a good choice for occaisional use when conditions require the use of snow chains, as long as your Escape has the original tire size 235/70-16 on it. Along with these chains it would be a good idea to use the Glacier Rubber Adjusters, # PW100, to keep the chains tight on the tires. If you think you will be using the chains a bit more than you indicated, or the conditions might require a better bite than cable chains, I recommend the...

  • How Fast Can I go with Snow Chains on my Vehicle, Should the Chains be Removed for Dry Pavement
You will want to stay within the speed range the manufacturer of your chains recommends, typically 25-30 miles per hour is the limit. • Recommended Tire Chain or Snow Sock Solution for 225/55-17 Tires on 2007 Subaru Outback Wagon
The snow socks would be the best solution, for your tire size, you'd use # TCH66. The socks have enough clearance above and to the inside to where they won't harm your vehicle. The Glacier Cable Snow Chain that will fit your 225/55-17 tires are part # PW1038. Because the owner's manual specifically states not to use them, I can't recommend anything that would contradict that. The # PW1038 are Class S compatible, which extend from the top of the tire no more than 37mm and to the inside...

Many newer vehicles require SAE Class S chains which mean the chain can be no larger than 15mm for side wall clearance on the vehicle. The chains fit either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Also check out our Glacier Rubber Adjusters, # PW100. These adjusters will provide easier installation and a better fit. It happens a lot and I know exactly the type of chains you need.
