Do you need bungee cords on tire chains if they are the correct size for the tire?

Expert Reply:
Using bungee cords, chain tensioners or rubber adjusters isn't a requirement but certainly recommended. Rubber adjusters such as # PW99, # PW100 will make it easier to fit and tighten snow chains like the Glacier snow chains # PW2028C you referenced.
The reason manufacturers recommend the rubber adjuster # PW99 or # PW100 (depending on tire size) is because the Glacier tires chains # PW2028C doesn't have an automatic tensioner.
Always check your vehicle owner's manual first to ensure that chains can be used with your vehicle.
