Today we're going to take a quick look at the replacement tail clamp assembly for Extang, Solid Fold and Trifecta tonneau covers. This is going to be that retracting clamp for your tonneau cover, it's going to replace that tail clamp assembly so that's going to be the one towards the back on your Extang Solid Fold, the Fold 2.0 or the Trifecta truck bed covers. It's going to just easily install onto your system by clamping on there. So, you'll see we'll have our spring inside to give us the tension that we need to get our clamp tightened down. Now, for the 1999 and newer Ford Super Duty's you will need a different clamp, that'll be the EX1042 replacement tail clamp. You can also find that here at etrailer.com. One last thing I wanted to mention about this is that it's made in the USA and as far as our dimensions, it's going to be about 6 1/2" overall, about 1 3/4 " wide, and going to the top of that clamp there is going to be about 1 1/2" tall. That's going to do it for our quick look at the replacement tail clamp assembly for Extang, Solid Fold and Trifecta tonneau covers..

Works perfectly. Still hold in place when needed, strings still have good tension.
This piece worked perfectly for my husbands tonneau truck cover. Thank you!
It was easy to install, the ones before came off when tonneau cover pop off on the interstate. So I'd replaced them. I'm in the process of repairing the cover.
I have not used them yet but they look like perfect replacements.
Perfect fit and well made!! Thanks
Fit perfectly on my trifecta cover that I’ve had for like 7-8 years now. Made it work like brand new again. Simple installation although it does require taking the rails on the back section of the cover apart in order to slip it into the cross rail.
Perfect fit! Just what we needed! Thank you.
Perfect fit, exactly what I needed. Shipping was faster than expected

The item was the exact replacement for the part that I needed. I installed it the day that I received it. The ordering process was uncomplicated, and the part came a day before promised. I have purchased items from etrailer before, never have had an ordering problem and the item has always been the exact item that I needed. Great company to deal with.

The replacement spring latch, P/N1035, is the exact replacement part. Unfortunately, these latches are mounted into the rail assemble during the Solid Fold 2.0 assembly. Once in place you cannot replace it without considerable time and expense. This assumes your cover is out of warranty as my 11 years old cover.
The photos below show an original clamp and a newly installed replacement clamp. The original has the rubber pad in place and the replacement does not.
To facilitate the install I determined that a portion of the rail must be removed. The clamp rides inside the rail on guides which after removing the retaining block became fully visible. I marked the width of the circular retainers on the clamp onto the rail and using a high speed Dremel tool cut the aluminum rail to a width and length that allowed the replacement spring clamp to be inserted. Once the retaining block was reattached it locked the clamp onto position.
This process removed about 0.5 inches length and 0.125 inch width from both sides of the aluminum rail. The replacement photo shows about 0.0825 inch (1/16) of the cutout remains uncovered but this gap doesn't interfere in operation or function of the spring latch.
This fix cost $10. My local Extang installer thought his tech would take 2 to 3 hours to disassemble the cover and install the new part. Cost estimate $250.
If you look close it's not pretty, but it works just fine.
Recommended replacement instructions would have been helpful.
perfect replacement fit and function

This replacement part has weathered through one of the most severe and prolonged below freezing winters here in Upstate NY without any flaws it function. I think these replacement parts are manufactured to a higher standard than was provided new OEM. Very satisfied.

Good, strong product, they work great on my truck, they hold the top-down real good. If you need some, I will buy him from this company for friendly.\nAnd the ship fast
Looks like an exact fit, would have liked to have seen installation instructions, however, that's what YouTube is for. :)
shipping was fast, but pricey.
