MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 100833-12

  • Hoses
  • Pigtail Hoses
  • 1/4 Inch - MIF
  • Type 1 - Female
  • MB Sturgis

Pigtail makes the connection from the propane tanks on your trailer to the propane regulator on your trailer. Check valve prevents backflow leakage and is suitable for dual-tank setups. Stainless Steel overbraiding protects hose from damage.

Features:

  • Propane pigtail connects your propane cylinder to a regulator
    • Used for single or dual tank setups on the front of your travel trailer
  • Female Type 1 fitting connects to the valve on your propane cylinder
  • Male Inverted flare connects to a propane regulator
  • Built-in bypass mode shuts gas off when flow reaches maximum capacity for safety
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow safety device limits gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Stainless steel overbraid protects the hose from damage
  • Durable thermoplastic hose and brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • Rated for high pressure and high flow rate to handle unregulated propane
    • UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Temperature range: -40 F to 140 F
  • Hose dimensions: 12" long x 1/4" inner diameter
  • Hose fittings:
    • Type 1 tank connection
    • 1/4" Male inverted flare
  • Maximum pressure rating: 350 psi
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

by:

I bought around eight of these because the hoses that came with the RV’s were prone to leaking. I also bought extra fittings to make it a clean 90 degree so as not to kink the hose.

by:

I purchased two of these propane pigtails at the same time I purchased new regulator. The pigtails lasted about 7 months, then both started leaking at roughly the same time. I had to replace both. I am not sure why they leaked, but am thinking the Texas summer heat might have had effect on the plastic part that screws onto the propane tank. New pigtails, different brand, working well.

by:

These pigtails have remained flexible even in very cold weather. Other pigtails I have used are already getting hard after a year and feel like they will crack if you try to change a tank when it is below freezing. These stainless overbraided pigtails are a welcome upgrade.

by:

Propane hoses were about 7 yrs old and were leaking, this was an easy fix thanks to ETRAILER Fast delivery and easy installation just make sure you order the right fittings to accommodate the valve on your trailer.

by:

This device worked exactly as described, with good fitment to the new changeover regulator I purchased at the same time.

by:

Installed hose onto regulator and turned on gas. Leaked at the threads, so I tightened a bit more and stripped the theads.I read MIF threads don't need tape. Now I'm afraid to try and install the other one.

I have gotten in contact with the manufacturer and they have confirmed that the MIP absolutely needs either loc-tite or Teflon tape to ensure no leaks. With the raw pipe thread and no sealant, you absolutely run the risk of a leak. 100% of all MIP’s should have some type of leak protection. I have sent this information over to our team to get it updated on our site. I also have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to look into getting you a replacement.

by:

Hose is 12 inches overall including the fittings. Old hose is 12 inches of hose plus the fittings. Return is $XX for 2 $XX hoses. Nope.

I wanted to let you know that when we send the RGA with the return UPS label that you do not have to use our return label. You can ship back the hoses using whichever shipping method is the most economical for you. Just be sure to include the RGA email in the return and have the RGA number on the package. We also have a propane hose that is 15 inches long overall. It is part # CAM59065.

by:

My old propane pigtails on my pop-up camper had become old and brittle plus I thought it was about time to replace the old P.O.L. fittings with the newer, much easier to use Type 1 Acme fittings. I chose the MB Sturgis pigtail since it is "assembled in the USA" and looked like a quality item. I decided to spend a few extra bucks on the stainless overbraid for added protection. These hoses arrived quickly, installed easily and worked fine. I'm sure they will last for many years.

by:

Jury is out on how long this will last but it looks like it's very well made and my expectations are high. It's installed in the propane locker of a 32 foot sailboat.

Well its been a year or more since I bought this hose and its as flexible as the day I bought it. I definitely would buy this again but I dont think Ill ever have to. This is being used on a boat in a enclosed propane locker that gets a lot of moisture. Still 5 stars from me.

by:

They seem like a very well built gas hose. They threaded right in, and tightened up like they should, with no leaks, the first time!

by:

My pigtails are only a year old but I was changing out a tank and heard hissing. When I put everything back together it was fine. No way I wasn't going to replace but wanted an upgrade. These pigtails appear to be better made and installation took minutes. Time will tell.

by:

Much better than the original.

by:

Very nice upgrade from the standard type hose. Well made by Sturgis in USA

Working great. No more leaks, expect these hoses to last a long time due to the stainless braid standing up to sun exposure much more than regular rubber hose.

by:

Bought SS braid thinking they will last longer than the rubber hoses.

Still working great, no cracks or splits.

by:

We purchased this pigtail in conjunction with a MB Sturgis regulator. Both are rated for higher flow than the regulator/pigtails installed on our Nash trailer. We had been having problems in the late fall/early winter with the factory installed regulator locking our propane tank out when the furnace and refrigerator were on. So far the MB Sturgis combination has worked well and we don't have the middle of the night panic when the heat goes off at 0F but we still have full tanks of propane. We also like the stainless over-braid on the pigtail. Less likely to kink or abrade.

The pigtail and MB Sturgis regulator have both functioned without fault at lower ambient temperatures. So far, no propane shutoffs in the middle of the night even though the tanks were full. I believe the regulator and pigtails supplied by the trailer manufacturer were the cheapest possible and this not intended for cold weather use, even though the trailer is 4 seasons rated.

by:

The pigtails on my propane tanks were the originals (10 yrs old) and finally sprung a very small leak. It was time for replacement and research showed me the Sturgis stainless sheathed one's were about the best money can buy. I was impressed with all the features built in...….especially the safety features. Also the price was right. I have ordered from etrailer in the past and I am still very happy with the turnaround time to receive my orders......not to forget the super friendly and efficient staff. You folks have an intimate knowledge of all your products which serves the customer well. Keep up the good work !!

The pigtails were constantly in service for 3 months over last summer with absolutely NO problems. I put my trailer in storage on my property up North and the product, according to my daughter still looks like new. I will be returning in the fall of 2020 to take the trailer out of storage, but knowing the quality of the products from etrailer, I expect no problems.

by:

These propane pigtails are exactly what I've been searching for. Made in the USA was plus. I didn't want to trust the "cheaper" offshore brands for our trailer. Many of them have the black knobs, which aren't appropriate for anything but a BBQ grill.
They were priced right, and arrived when they were suppose to.
I'm using them to replace the original pigtails that came on our trailer. I chose the stainless braid in case critters decide to try them for lunch. It'll deter them from ruining a perfectly good camping trip. The old ones will become spares, in case someone else needs them to save their trip. Thank you, etrailer.

The Sturgis stainless steel pigtails have been functioning flawlessly for a year now. The chipmunks and squirrels cant chew through the braid, which Im sure disappoints them immensely. Theyve been a great upgrade to our RV, and I recommend them to anyone looking to replace the pigtails on their camper.

by:

Perfect fit. I like the stainless braid. The ones I replaced had cracked and were hissing.

by:

Order arrived quickly, easy installation thank you very much. I will be back when I need parts, thanks again for the service.

When the dealer couldn’t provide a replacement propane regulator for the one that was recalled on our Sonic Venture, I phoned Josh at etrailer. He was very knowledgeable and helped me order the correct regulator and attachments. The etrailer online demo video on installing the regulator made it easy to replace the old one with the new one. Much appreciated!

by:

Great quality and made in the USA.

by:

Prompt delivery. Items in great condition. Although item 100833-12 had the wrong end fitting on it for an RV propane hook-up, not the same as existing one. Had go to RV dealer 15 miles away get 1/4" Inverted Flare × 1/4" MPT fittings for each hose to make them fit. $4.95 for the pair. Product description didn't reveal this discrepancy. Now all is well, "I'm a Happy Camper" no propane leaks.

Still working excellent, I highly recommend etrailer. Great products and service

by:

Braided hose fit like original without any problems accommodating the required bend. Just installed so only four stars at this time. Am hoping for longer live than OEM. Original was five years old and US made by Fairview. Outer rubber was cracked and started leaking. Always had hard plastic cover on tanks except when changing.

by:

They worked on excellent. I ordered the first pair too short came to a friend that used them. Now my propane lines are nice and flexible and easy gets a tanks in and out. If these ever got hard like the original ones dead I would buy them again.

I think the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail, # 100833-12 is what is needed. You do not state what fittings you have on current hose but most likely are the Type 1 cylinder connection with a 1/4" Male inverted flare. If you have something different please let me know.
