Video Transcript for MB Sturgis Propane - Hoses - 100473-12 Review

Today we're going to be taking looking at the MB Sturgis Propane hose assembly. This is used to connect the remote tank to a high pressure regulator in order to carry the gas across the coach to the two stage regulator. This is commonly found on travel trailers where the LP cylinders are on opposite sides of the unit. This particular hose assembly is going to feature an RV type one connector on this side, on the other end is a quarter inch MBT connector. The type one provides a higher flower rate allowing more gas to get to the high pressure regulator. The assembly measures twelve inches long. It's made from a nice thermo plastic construction.

It's very strong and durable. The type one dark green connector includes an internal back check to ensure that the system does not allow a back flow gas leak. The hose itself is going to feature a quarter inch inner diameter. The unit also features a heat sensitive thermal shut off device to shut off the gas in extreme heat situations. Where it comes to certification, it's UL 569 and ANSI Z21-81 certified. It is designed for LP gas only.

Temperature range is anywhere from negative forty degrees Fahrenheit to positive one hundred and forty degree Fahrenheit and the maximum flow capacity is 200,000 BTU's per hour. That's going to do it for today's look at the MB Sturgis Propane Hose Assembly.

Made in USA! Thank you! I tried to by local, still waiting for a call back 2 1/2 weeks later...etrailer will be my first stop for my next RV need!

It’s installed on my double propane tanks on the front of an RV. It leaks at the junctions on either side. I can usually prevent leaking if I don’t touch it, which means I can’t use a propane tank cover. Once I install the cover I can smell propane since it presses on the hoses slightly. These leak less than the swivel ones that came with my RV but they’re definitely not as reliable as I would like.

High quality made in USA propane pigtails. Note that these are 1/4 inch pipe thread ends for the older auto switching regulator on my 2007 Airstream International. The more common 1/8 inch reverse flare fitting will not fit mine. The 1/4 inch pipe thread pigtails are a little harder to find, and are able to flow more propane. I have a propane powered generator that thes work very well with.

I used these as replacements for two older style hoses on my RV tanks. The old ones required the use of a wrench to remove them from the tank. It was an easy conversion that took less than 15 minutes. On the connection to the regulator, I used yellow teflon gas tape on the threads as a precautionary measure. Still don't know if that was necessary, but didn't want to take a chance they might leak. So far, so good, no leaks at the connections. They are reasonably priced good quality hoses. With the older hoses it was a pain to switch out empty tank for a full one. Eventually it got so difficult to get the hose thread started in the propane tank that I stripped one of them out, which is why I ordered new hoses from etrailer. Tank swap outs are now a breeze, and no tools required! Wished I had done this years ago. Standard shipment from etrailer was adequate and reasonably priced.

Still working good. Small purchase that has made life easier.

Mostly as advertised - Good quality, no issues with performance. As other reviewers have noted, the hoses are not as long as advertised - it would be better if they were an inch or so longer.

Comments
Replaced the hoses a year ago, and so far no issues. Seems like a good product!

Order two of these to replace failed units on our trailer. Shopped on Amazon and saw tons of comments about people getting units that failed and leaked out of the box. Both of these look like high quality hose crimps and two weekends of use without any issues. Shipping was super quick and good communication. Would order from etrailer again.

Bought two of these to replace the originals that came from the factory. One year in and no problems. Seems higher quality then the originals.

Very well made compared to the O.E. hoses, which only lasted 4 years under VERY little use. You can really see the difference, especially in the end crimp. The O.E. hose had a cheap , sharp, thin ferrule which bit into the hose at the connection, eventually failing. These have good, strong steel circumferential swedge fittings that look like the manufacturer takes pride in their work. The price was VERY fair and the delivery time was a couple of days. Thanks eTrailer!

Interesting I received a request to review this product about 2 weeks after contacting etrailer to see if there is a warranty for this product and was told there is not. After less than one year of service this product failed at the crimp connection on the regulator end just like the part it replaced. I have to wonder if there is a materials and/or manufacturing defect as it seems like a lot of folks in my RV group experience this issue with their hoses as well.

This part is a "round-2-it" part. I haven't gotten around to installing it yet, it is still in the bag in my shed. I had intended to revise my LP piping slightly to provide more space between the LP tank and the front of my trailer.

Excellent RV cover: strong material, well made, seams are strong, good placement and number of straps to secure the cover, Wheel covers perfect fit. I had help putting it on the RV , one person, and it went smoothly. I had read other reviews and most recommended purchasing the larger size when your rv length was 'in between.' In my case, a trail lite 19rdb, the cover is actually too big. Fortunately the tie downs and straps help prevent billowing but I expect the winter here is SD to hard on the cover anyway. My box was short a strap. I emailed the company, who responded immediately and generously sent me replacement which arrived as promised. Customer service - awesome.

  • Pigtails Needed to Connect Dual Propane Tanks to Regulator on Travel Trailer
For a typical travel trailer propane setup you will have 1 of 2 pigtails. The first will have the Type 1 connector (with the green cap) and the other has a 1/4" MPT fitting like what we find on the pigtail # 100473-12. I believe this is what you currently have but I think the end you're seeing looks like the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting # 204120-MBS and I think the white plastic piece is part of the back-check. The other type of pigtail that we see has the same Type 1 connector,...

  • Recommended Replacement Hose From Propane Tank to Regulator on 5th Wheel
The hose and fittings sizes are standardized for RV's. Therefore, what you have is going to be a type 1 to either a 1/4" NPT or 1/4" Male Inverter Flare. If you have the former I recommend part # 100473-12 or part # 37207-30715 if you have the latter. That said, I get why you're confused as these fittings don't actually mic out to 1/4", they will measure larger but that does not correlate to their nominal size which would be the same for measuring any sort of NPT fitting.
