Had an older model I had to cut off...lost keys. This newer model is better. Really like the new dirt guard configuration and that it uses a key I can get duplicated easily at the hardware store. Service from George at Etrailers was top notch and product arrived earlier than I expected. Def will do business w them again. 198787

After one year of use it continues to preform well...still love the dirt guard.

We purchased everything we need to transport our bike;, hitch, bike rack, locking hitch pin, hitch cover. Everything shipped quickly and was of the highest quality. Since we are newbies to transporting bicycles, the product descriptions and ratings were incredibly helpful! We are using all products purchased and are more than satisfied with them, as well as the ease of purchasing from etrailer. 132950

One year later, still I credibly happy with our purchase!

Rack arrived two days after ordering! Assembly was easy although a little confusing with the instructions supplied. eTrailer answered questions I had concerning that immediately. The rack is designed for two bikes. We have a woman's retro Schwinn with 26" tires and a men's GT with 27" tires. Both fit the wheel trays and clamped tightly following the instructions provided. Clearance between the pedals and the back of the car is more than adequate. Have not taken the first trip as yet but will do so soon. BTW: the vehicle is a Ford Escape with an aftermarket 2" hitch. 195014

2012 Juke while traveling 1500 miles the bikes stayed put. After going about 800 miles we needed to tighten all the bolts again. This stopped the bikes and rack from swaying back and forth. The bikes and rack did bounce somewhat but with all the tie downs and the hook that were provided they never left the rack. The rack was easy to put together. Bikes were very easy to lift on and off. We can also use the same rack with our truck with the attachment that came with it. 107862

This works beautifully on my Swagman XTC-2 carrier, making it very stable with this locking hitch pin in place. Very pleased. Indeed, as noted on some of the other comments, the shaft is quite long and does extend a bit beyond the side of my 2" receiver when installed, making it conceivably subject to being hack-sawed off by a determined thief. My (rather simplistic) solution...stacking steel washers between the side of the receiver where the bolt exits, all the way to the locking barrel...it takes about 25 or so. Cheap but effective. 192844

Comments

Dont stack washers or anything else in there! I just bought the same lock and thought about that too. But if you do, a thief can simply thread the pin out with a socket and the lock will pop right off due to all of the washers pushing against the hitch and the lock mechanism.

The product shipped in a timely manner and was exactly what I was looking for. Both the bike rack and hitch were perfect for my needs. The few times I have had to speak with anyone from etrailer, the customer service department has been great. Thanks for your help? 143961

Everything is working fine. My only dislike is having to rachet the lock bolt in place.

Product works as advertised! Keeps my Swagman XTC-2 bike rack well secured to my trailer hitch. Four Stars! I would have given it 5 out of 5 stars if it had come standard with the bike rack. I don't think this should be an extra cost item on a pricey bike rack like this one. 141628

Comments

I have a 2nd bike now, so the rack and lock are getting plenty of use. - However, I still believe the lock should be a standard feature that comes with the bike rack.Cheers

Received the bike rack shipment today and did a partial assembly, following the easy to understand instructions. Plan on completing the installation on the vehicle tomorrow. We were concerned on possible missing parts as the package was badly damaged - see pics - but all were there and we are very satisfied. Suzanne L. 322793

They say locks keep honest people out. I'm not even sure this could keep out a Sunday school teacher. First, the pin itself is machined from a regular old bolt (very soft steel) and not hardened at all. Second, this thing is about 2" wider than it needs to be, allowing someone with bolt cutters or a hacksaw to easily access the shank to make quick work out of it. This does not provide any more peace of mind to me over the standard anti-rattle pin with a threaded shank, since a thief would still need a wrench. As always though, prompt delivery from eTrailer. 241220

I just revived the product. It seems like it will do the job. Only thing I can find that I would change is that swagman hitch rack bolts are threaded (maybe all hitch rack bolts are threaded?). I was hoping to slide the bolt out and pop off the rack when not in use, but having to unscrew the hitch bolt each time takes to long. I have decided to leave the rack attached to the car throughout the summer. The good thing about it being threaded is that it firmly attaches the rack to the hitch and prevents the rack from swaying entirely. Lastly, the locked is not keyed alike (to the cable lock on swagman rack I purchased)...I think other manufacturers have this option available so you have one less key. 39242

I'm totally new to trailering/hitches, and I learned a ton from this site. Hopefully this comment will help someone in a similar situation. Anyway, two things attracted me to this product: anti-rattle and locking. Anti-rattle apparently means it's a threaded bolt instead of a smooth pin. I think this is important for my application - a bike carrier, being driven long distance at highway speed then through areas with SUPER rough roads. Be aware: Cylindrical locks are not highly secure. (google for "pen open kryptonite") The pin is also *really* long, and that makes it vulnerable to cutting. (bolt cutters, hacksaw, whatever) But it's good enough for what I'm after - making sure someone needs to jump through at least a couple hoops to steal my bike while I am in the restroom or whatever. Also - at least for my bike carrier, there is another pin that needs to be locked to provide security. A visit to my local auto parts store got me what I needed, but of course it's another key to keep track of and I . A set like 2848DAT, but with an anti-rattle pin, would have been ideal for me. In my picture, on the left you can see the product installed in a standard 1.25" bike rack (S64650) - and how far the pin sticks out. In the center of the picture you can see the second lock I needed. 60655

Could not give this over a 3 because it cost me an extra 5 bucks to go buy a socket big enough to screw into my hitch. Unless your a diesel mechanic your basic socket set wont accomidate the 22mm size bolt. Had to go to three stores to find one. Only reason I purchased was the hitch bolt that came with the swagman xtc bike rack was to short for my 2 inch receiver and I was unable to put the safety clip in. Called swagman customer service and they said well we have a anti-rattle hitch pin that will work...sounds like they intentially do that to make you fork out the extra cash for the locking hitch pin. Anyway, does what it is suppose to do not much to it. Peace of mind that it locks the bike rack to the truck. 54636

Purchased 3 items from etrailer (Swagman-S64650, Hitch -24902, Anit-Rattle Lock -S64029)- Product review below etrailer review (both get similar star rating) Decided to use etrailer based in their support videos and upfront information. For example: on some products I reviewed they provided (in the title info ) Class I or II. For other retailers you had to dig deep into description. Being a novice at the ratings it not only educated but prevented incorrect part ordering. I will not hesitate to use etrailer based on the above and AFTER the purchase support Nothing complicated/easy to use. Upon initial check it does seem to reduce "wobble/rattle" of mounted Swagman-S64650 bike rack. 547062

I lost the lock portion of the assembly and so had to order a replacement. This system is a simple and effective way to lock the bikes to the rack. The cable just slips over the end of the pin slide on the lock and your done. The dust cover keeps the lock opening clean too. 645169

I am giving this a excellent rating even though I can't use it because of MY tow hitch and not the fault of the product. If they made one with a slightly shorter shaft, I could have fitted it to my hitch, but the way KIA had the lighting bracket mounted, I could not use this item. 643146

This is good solid lock. We use it to keep our bike rack securely attached to our vehicles. The key entry is covered so dirt and debris do not get in and obstruct the key. It has endured long drives on dusty roads, and continues to serve us well. The treads on the pin allow us to screw it in place so that it does not rattle. I think this product is a good value and I would definitely recommend others buy one if they are looking for good locking hitch pin. 562829

I am a bit surprised at how long the "Bolt" portion is so long. it appears that it will protrude 2" on both sides of the receiver. I am very satisfied with this locking hitch pin. • How to Carry 4 Bikes With a 2016 Chevy Cruze
  • I do have a solution for you to carry 4 bikes, but since the trailer hitch receivers that are available for your 2016 Chevrolet Cruz are 1-1/4 inch Class I receivers you will be limited to a 2 bike carrier for the hitch. To carry 4 bikes you will need to install a roof rack and carry 2 bikes on your roof. As far as which hitch receiver I recommend, If you are going to have a shop install it I recommend the Draw-Tite Sport Frame # 24943 because it doesn't require the use of the Support...

It has spring loaded features to help with the tilting and pivoting so it is an easier to use system. I do recommend getting the hitch lock # THSTL2 with this rack as well as a cable lock like # TH538XT. If you have alternative style frames or step through frames, I...

  • Advantages of Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack Part # S64670 Versus the XC Rack Part # S64650
  • If I had to choose between the two, I would choose the XTC-2, part # S64670. Not only do the rubber straps you refer to further secure the bikes to the rack, but the wheel hoops themselves are much stronger. The rack includes a threaded hitch pin, but I would recommend the optional locking hitch pin/cable lock combo part # S64031.

  • Correct Hitch Receiver Lock for Swagman Titan Bike Rack on 2 Inch Hitch
  • The correct anti-rattle hitch lock to use with the Swagman Titan 2 Bike Rack # S63400 would be the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman Hitch Racks # S64029. The HitchMate you referenced would not work with the Swagman Titan bike rack. Additionally, please note that when using a hanging rack like the Titan you'll need bike frame adapter bar # 64005 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give...

  • Will Swagman XC-2 and XTC-2 Hitch-Mount Platform Bike Carriers fit a 2014 Subaru Forester
  • Both the Swagman XC-2 and XTC-2 hitch-mount platform-style 2-bike carriers, parts # S64650 and # S64670, will fit either 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitch receivers. Either one will work on your 2014 Subaru Forester. The main differences between the two carriers are the amount of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the nearest wheel hoop, and the size of the bike wheelbase they can carry. The specific type of bikes you have and their dimensions may help determine...

  • 4 Bike Rack to clear a 12 x 35 Spare Tire
  • The best rack we have available for your situation is the Swagman Titan 4 Bike, part # S63410. This is a hanging style bike rack that is compatible with both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches, and sits 14-1/2 inches away from the vehicle. Its foot is about 11-1/4 inches away from the vehicle, and this will still clear the spare, as it sits about in line with the hitch receiver. The Titan can carry up to 4 35 pound bikes and includes a bike lock for added security. You can add a threaded, locking...

  • Threaded Hitch Pin on Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack # S64670 Does Not Go All the Way Through Receiver
  • I spoke with my contact at Swagman and she stated that the threaded hitch pin does not need to be clipped on the other side to be secure. All you will need to do is to tighten it as much as you can with the included tool and it will be fine. If you would prefer to have it so that it is secure on both sides, my contact stated that you will need to use the locking hitch pin, # S64029, and that should fit.

  • Bike Carrying Options for 2012 Ford Mustang Coupe
  • The two most convenient methods of carrying a bike rack on your vehicle would be a trunk mount rack that would attach to the trunk lid or a hitch mounted rack. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Trunk mounted racks typically require a lower initial cost, but they are not compatible with all vehicles. They are best for occasional use because it is not recommended to permanently leave the rack attached to the vehicle. Before installing a trunk mounted bike rack, it...

  • Carrying 4 Bikes on a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime
  • I may have a solution for you. However, you aren't able to use the Yakima DoubleDown Ace, part # Y02451, on your 2017 Toyota Prius Prime. The hitch receivers for your vehicle, like the Draw-Tite # 24966, are Class I receivers and the DoubleDown Ace fits Class II and Class III receivers. In addition to that a Class I hitch is only able to carry up to 2 bikes. Instead to carry 4 bikes on your car I recommend using a hitch mount bike rack like the Swagman Titan, part # S63400, to carry...
