Replacement Threaded Bolt for a 17" x 46" Curt Cargo Carrier C18145

Published 01/16/2025

Question:

Hello. I need to replace the threaded bolt used to connect the Curt cargo basket C18145 to the Curt hitch C11416 I bought from you folks. Can you tell me the bolt dimensions and thread size? BTW, I am pleased with both products I installed the hitch using your vid! Thanks.

Hey Michael, welcome back! You can use the Replacement Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin for Curt Bike Racks item # C82NR with the 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier item # C18145. It's a 1/2" hex bolt with a 13 thread pitch. I don't have the length but if you're sourcing a replacement at a local hardware store you would just want to measure to either side of your hitch receiver.

If you're interested in adding a locking hitch pin, the item # S64029 has the same thread pitch and works with the Curt cargo carriers.

Jerred -- Thanks for your speedy reply. The winter weather has me dreaming of summer travel and compiling THE LIST. The Curt cargo basket works well for hauling propane, gas, and water for camping. From the live-and-learn department, on my first such trip I arrived at my campsite to find the plastic 6-gallon water container positioned on the right side of the basket had melted -- too close to the Honda exhaust pipe! So I rigged up a metal plate to deflect the heat down toward the road. Always an adventure.

@Michael You're welcome! Yeah, nice weather will be here before you know it. We've heard of this problem often. Lots of people change their exhaust tips so it blows down instead of back. Keep this in mind if you run into that issue again.

May try that if needed. Thanks again.
