When you're staying in one place for a while, taking the motorhome to refill its onboard propane tank requires breaking camp. An auxiliary cylinder gives you another propane supply that you can remove and refill while the motorhome stays parked. This pigtail connects that cylinder to a compatible motorhome propane system.
A broken or damaged propane hose can release propane rapidly, creating a serious fire hazard. The 0.9 GPM excess-flow POL fitting restricts propane flow when its closing rate is exceeded.

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at this MEC RV propane pigtail hose for an auxiliary propane tank. So when you're motor home or RV, obviously you know you have a permanently mounted tank most of the times, right When it's running low on propane, especially during an extended stay, that can be pretty inconvenient. Now we have to drive away, pack up the whole campsite, go somewhere in town if there's one even available and get it refilled, right So that's where an auxiliary cylinder can give you a second option. You can use that portable propane tank to keep a compatible system supplied.
And when that cylinder runs low, you can take just the tank in for a refill. So this is a 30" long hose that'll make that connection. And you want to pay attention to the fittings on both ends. Right here you have your male, what we call POL fitting. It uses a 7/8" nut and that threads into the internal POL connection on the cylinder itself and tightens with a wrench.
On this side, we have a other end, it's a 1/4" male inverted flare. So it's 1/4" with a male inverted flare. So that means that this will go into a female inverted flare inlet on the motor home's propane system. So since this is an inverted flare, you do not have to put thread tape or anything like that on there, but you do need to make sure that you have that size, as they make different sizes. So this is a thermoplastic hose.
It's approved for propane service and it's been fully crimped with brass fittings on both ends. And built into this main fitting over here is a 0.9 gallon per minute excess flow feature. That just means if the hose we inchesre to get damaged, propane suddenly begins to escape too quickly, like a leak or something, this will restrict the flow to help limit the amount of propane being released. So it's not going to shut it off 100%, but it will kick in and lessen it by a whole lot. Now I highly recommend anytime you connect any propane fittings, no matter where they're at, you always use some kind of leak detection and make sure you check for bubbles and leaks.
