That will depend greatly on the adapter you have, Joe.

If it's a sleeve that just slides in and the pin goes through the same hole in the sleeve as the accessory, the bike rack in this case, it will not fit. I couldn't find a better way to word this, but basically the same pin holds the reducer sleeve and the bike rack. I think that makes sense? Let me know if it doesn't. The pin that comes with the Yakima HangTight Vertical Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y59GR is too short to fit through a 2-1/2" hitch.

Now if you reducer sleeve comes out from the hitch, like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # e53YR, you are good to go. It should be noted that these kinds of reducers that extend out will cut your tongue weight in half, but with a 2-1/2" hitch, you should still be well within capacities (but it would be prudent to double check). Something like the Fastway Adapter Sleeve for Fastway and Diversi-Tech 2" Locking Ball Mounts to 2-1/2" Receivers # DTADP25-SS may also be an option, but you will need to take a few measurements to make sure (see picture). I would also grab something like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # RM-062 and a lock for the adapter, like the # FA86-00-3160 (if you don't already have one) if you decide to go this route.

This got a little more complicated than I was expecting so let me know if this makes sense or not.
