This hitch turns your everyday ride into a hauler for gear and small trailers. Rated at 3,500 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 350 lbs maximum tongue weight, it’s ready for light-to-moderate towing, cargo carriers, or bike racks. The 2" receiver opening is the standard size most accessories use, so it works with a wide range of racks, mounts, and carriers without needing adapters.
Designed for DIY installs, this hitch bolts directly to the frame—no drilling or welding needed. The precision, robotic welds line up cleanly with factory holes for an exact fit. It comes with a full hardware kit and printed instructions so you can get it mounted using common hand tools instead of specialized shop equipment.
The round-tube steel construction is strong and durable for consistent towing or carrying. A matte black powder coat over a protective base layer adds extra corrosion resistance while hiding dirt and scuffs better than glossy finishes. The rugged look blends well with most vehicles and keeps the hitch looking clean after miles of road use.

Whether you’re towing a small camper or carrying bikes through winter roads, the matte powder coating helps protect the steel from salt, rain, and grime. It’s built to resist rust, so you can leave it installed year-round without worrying about corrosion or dull finishes over time.

The price was good but the item arrived with minor scratches which is the reason for minus one star. Not bad enough to return but if it's being sold as new it should at least look nice.
The product is good and the fit was correct. There were some scratches from shipping or manufacturing? If I didn't have the deadline at the time... and if this wasn't going under my vehicle, where it gets scratched and dirty anyway... I would have asked for a replacement. As such... it got installed and worked great for simple bike rack or cargo carrier. My only issue was cleaning the rusty threaded holes... but that's not anybody's fault except the PA winter, salty roads!
Third time ordering hitches from etrailer, second time for CRVs. Always a perfect fit. The YouTube videos are a big plus and highly recommended to watch prior to install. I always save the cutout and reinstall via zip ties.
First, amazing shipping job. Really impressed with the packaging. Took about 2 hours to do the installation. Your video was very helpful!
Solid hitch. Exceeds expectations. Installation was not too difficult. I had to touch grind each side of tow hook to get U-bolt to drop down over hook. Not a big deal.
Last year I purchased a trailer hitch receiver from etrailer and I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience! From the moment I installed it, I knew I had made the right choice. The quality of the hitch is outstanding—it feels robust and well-engineered, which gives me confidence every time I hit the road.
Over the past few months, I’ve used it for transportation of my e-bikes , and it has held up exceptionally well. I’m hauling e-bikes for camping trips it performs flawlessly without any signs of wear or instability. It’s easy to attach and detach, and the design makes it user-friendly.
What I appreciate most is the peace of mind it provides. Knowing that my trailer receiver is securely allows me to focus on the journey rather than worrying about my load. I highly recommend this e-trailer receiving hitch to anyone in need of a reliable solution. Five stars all the way!
U bolt was too small to fit around the tow hook in the middle. Had to go buy another half inch u bolt meant for cable. Then had to shave out the bolt holes for the u bolt to make it fit. It works so far but it was a pain to figure out.
It’s well designed but designed for the new vehicles without corrosion. Inspect the area where this has to be installed ahead of time—mine required a significant amount of work to get on, including rethreading the holes where the bolts attach to the frame (cleaning it wasn’t enough as it instructed). Glad it was ultimately able to work out given it’s unsafe to weld so close to the gas tank, just recognize it’s not as easy as it’s marketed (unless your 2016 CRV is spotless). Working great now!
Not my first purchase of a trailer hitch receiver from etrailer and I am very satisfied again from start to finish. Fast shipping and a top end product. I am old (75) and not tremendously handy and I installed it on my Honda CRV in about an hour. Great etrailer
video on YouTube helped. Highly recommend this company and product.
The hitch fits perfectly and was easy to install.
The installation instructions were functional but left a bit to be desired cosmetically.
I have a solution that I plan to fine tune and post on YouTube (possibly tagging your company, if you approve).
Let's circle back in a few weeks.
Love the etrailer.com 2" receiver i bought. 4 hours of hell to install in my garage, but look at me now! the thing works great for my mountain bikes, and i can use it for trailer, or other hitch mount tech. perfect.

Very well. No problems, rock solid.
Received hitch a day earlier than promised. Installed on a 2016 Honda CRV. Removed rear trim and hangers for muffler. Cut trim to clear left bracket and installed both trim and hitch together. A little more difficult but it looks great! This is the second hitch I have installed from etrailer, both were great! Including photos of cutout and install.

Have used to haul my two bikes all over the place! Works great! Finish still looks great, it’s holding up fine.
This is my third time ordering from etrailer.com and they always provide a great experience. The hitch came exactly as expected with no issues. I watched the installation video several times and then went to work. Everything they said in the video was exactly as expected. No surprises at all. I even used some of the tips from the other reviews to make the installation even better (I didn't cut out the entire piece from the under-panel, just cut it on three sides, folded it back, attached the bolts to the frame and the folded the under-panel right back into place). The CR-V looks GREAT with the new hitch. My daughter will now be able to load her own bikes and leave the other car to us! Kudos to etrailer!

It works great! My daughter loves it and it is easy for her to use! Installation was easy from looking at the online videos. I even used the trick of not cutting the entire hole off, but instead tucked it back and then used Gorilla Glue duct tape to hold it back in place.
The hitch arrived promptly, and well packaged. I have a 2013 CRV which have the nuts welded into the frame which I thought would make for a quick installation. I only cut 3 sides of the plastic underbody, and then cleaned the screw holes with the brush. Went to test fit the bolts and the muffler side nuts were totally rusted. Tried the brush some more, no luck. Tried a dental pick, no luck. Finally my son used a Dremel with a small wire brush and was able to get both muffler side nuts cleaned. I finally could hand thread all the bolts into the nuts. Once this was completed it only took 20 minutes to install the hitch. We did use the U bolt and nuts bolted to the tow hook to hold the hitch while we bolted it to the frame. It took us 2 1/2 hours, 90% was cleaning the rust from the welded nuts.
I will be securing the cut flap with some aluminum stock and pop rivets, as I feel the duct tape will fail over time.
Note: the two flange nuts for the tow hook are to wide and over lap, so I can't get one flush against the hitch. I plan on replacing 1 or both with grade 8 nuts, washers and lock washers. Waiting for a reply from customer service.

Its been 1 year and the hitch is still looking good. I havent replaced the nuts used on the tow hook. Im only transporting 2 bikes so Im not to worried.
I purchased the hitch to mount a bike carrier on my 2014 Honda CRV. I am very happy with the purchase. The installation was easy thanks to the excellent documentation and outstanding video with all the details as to the bolt and fastener dimensions and locations.
I am 70 years old, just retired from a Field Service Engineer job with ASML and installed the hitch by myself without jacking up the rear of the CRV and only using the CRV tire-changing jack to lift the hitch. I put the hitch on the shipping box with the opening facing back and put the jack inside the box about 1/2 way toward the drivers side and then jacked that side up. (see first picture) The box kept the hitch fairly level, wouldn't slip down and off the concrete (I kept myself off the concrete using a rug). Then I lifted the drivers side of the hitch up and started the two bolts on that side. Then I took the shipping box out, jacked up the hitch on the drivers side to within 1/4" and then screwed in those two bolts. Everything fit perfectly per video and I had no issues with corroded bolt holes due to California conditions, also U-bolts fit fine did not overlap as previous reviewers had experienced. Overall great !!

After 1 year the product is still working fine. Im happy, no issues

We love it! Easy to put the bike rack on and off. We recommend you all the time. Plus you put installed it for free. Thanks again!!
Smooth ordering. Great value. Easy install (the instructional videos on YouTube are a big value add - thanks for making them!). Many thanks!
Arrive with no damage, install went well and was installed in about 2 hours. Two of the car body nuts were rusted were bad let and it took time to clean them out. Used a nut cleaning tap to eventually clean them out. After they were properly cleaned it was installed in about 30 mins by myself working on the ground. I also installed the wiring kit purchased separately. Works great and look good under the back bumper.

Hey James. Sometimes those weld nuts are super pesky! I'm glad that you were able get the hitch mounted in the end! What are you going to be towing behind your CR-V?

The trailer hitch fit perfectly. Reading what other customers did to ease installation, especially regarding trimming the plastic on the the Honda CRV was very helpful. I'm a pretty good backyard mechanic and professional machinist so it went very well. As always the shipping was fast and etrailer is a fantastic company to deal with.

The hitch is dandy. The finish is holding up well. So far the only use its had is for our bike rack and its perfect.
I never leave reviews but I will for etrailer. They seem to always have what I’m looking for and they ship super fast. This hitch fit perfectly and the install video is great.

Thanks for the kind words Dylan, we really appreciate it!!
Fast shipping and seems quality made. Mounting hardware was taped to hitch. Everything went smoothly together.
This is a well-made product. I very much liked the mat finish and the overall construction. The installation time cited is likely for a newer vehicle employing a lift. A couple of tips for an older vehicle: Have a M10 x 1.25 tap on hand since the bolt holes over the muffler will have rust that cannot be shifted with a wire brush and drill. The cutting instructions places the one corner of the opening very near some openings in the plastic shield that aren't on the installation sketch. This requires some care during the cutting phase but you need the opening to be the proper size otherwise threading of the bolts will be difficult. Likewise, I suggest having a deep-well 17mm socket as well as a standard height since the distance over the muffler is cramped and the ability to torque the fasteners on that side will be difficult if not impossible otherwise. I personally think that it would be impossible to install the hitch without jacking up the rearend of the vehicle. I gave a 4 star rating due to a personal pet-peeve; Having both SAE and metric fasteners in the kit is an annoyance but I suppose metric U-bolts are significantly harder to find and more expensive.
One last hint, if your wife wants to have the vehicle undercoated before you get a chance to install the hitch DON'T LET THAT OCCURE!
I got around to installing the 2014 CR-V hitch last week, and for the most part, it appears to be very good quality. I would love to give it a 5-star rating; however, I ran into an issue during the installation.
Both of the front-side oval slots were not cut wide enough to allow the frame bolts to be installed properly. I ended up having to remove the hitch and use a die grinder to elongate the slots so the bolts would fit.
For reference, this vehicle has never been in an accident or had any frame work done, so I’m confident the issue was not related to the vehicle.
I bring this to your attention in case it’s a manufacturing issue that could affect other installations.
I watched the video and had no problem with the install. The one change I made (that saved time and possible problems) was, I did not remove the underbody panel. I cut the slot for the drivers side bolts while the panel was in place. Worked great! From start to finish was less than 1 hour. I pulled a trailer immediately after I was finished.

The trailer hitch continues to be great and has proven to be a good investment. I use it frequently. Really solid so I feel like it will outlast the car.
