When you’re pulling heavy trailers or hauling gear for work, you want a hitch that’s built to handle it. This Curt Class V hitch carries a maximum gross trailer weight of 20,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 2,700 lbs. The same ratings apply when using weight distribution. Its 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver opening is built for heavy-duty towing setups and accessories. The square-tube design and precision, robotic welding deliver dependable strength and consistent fit under load.
You don’t need a lift or specialized tools to set this hitch up. It bolts directly to the frame with no welding required. The installation hardware and instructions come in the box, so everything you need is on hand. The mounting points line up for a straightforward install that’s practical for most driveways or garages.
Towing often means exposure to rain, grime, and road salt, but this hitch is ready for it. The black powder coat finish lays over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. That tough exterior helps keep the steel from corroding even after years of use in all kinds of weather.
Whether you’re hooking up a heavy trailer, using a ball mount, or adding a cargo platform, the standard 2-1/2" receiver gives you room for the right setup. Ball mount, pin, and clip are sold separately so you can choose what best fits your towing needs. This hitch is made for serious hauling but still fits seamlessly into your regular routine.

I didn't think this required drilling, but perhaps I mis-read the description. It does require drilling 2 holes. Probably is you have to lift this 100lb monster into place to mark where the holes go, THEN pull it out of the way to drill the holes straight.
After you put it back, you find that the 1/2 hole they tell you to drill doesn't fit the 9/16" hardware they sent. Of course 9/16" is bigger than most folks have in their drill set, so I spent an hour with a dremel to make it big enough.
If the instructions were correct this would have taken half the time. The receiver itself does look the business.
The hitch was exactly what it said it was and fit perfect. To date I have never been disappointed with etrailer. Your customer service is impeccable in an age when customer service is unheard of. Thank You!!
Hitch was missing parts so I called on a Monday and I was told they would have the missing parts to me by Wednesday, the parts didn’t ship until Thursday. I bought the hitch so I could move without hiring movers. I have to be out Friday, now my parts won’t be here until Friday or later. So now I’m forced to hire movers. I would not reccomend etrailer for any purchases at all. They don’t stand behind their word and weren’t willing to do anything about their mistake.
Just installed the Curt Class V Commercial hitch on my 2016 GMC Denali Dually replacing the OEM hitch that was less then optimum for the towing I do, Installation was straight forward my wife and I had it installed in little over an hour after removing the stock hitch.
Overall I am very happy with this hitch. I think it is more sturdy and safer pulling heavy loads. Unfortunately there was more work involved in installation then the directions revealed. The hitch required 2 new holes to be drilled in each frame rail. To complicate this, one hole in the passenger side frame was on the edge of one of the bolt holes that mount the spare tire shield. This hole required the use of a drill bit and a rotary file.
This hitch was easy to install myself with the help of a floor jack. I was very impressed with the etrailer website and how fast the hitch was delivered. I will be doing more business here for sure.
Mounting took a bit longer than I thought. Drilling the 2 holes in the frame at an angle was challenging but I was successful and am very pleased with the Curt Class V hitch. I just wish GM would have installed the class V because the 2500 HD trucks are designed for towing to begin with. This will add value to the truck when selling it in the future. The installed height of the OEM was about 16-1/4". The Curt Hitch was about 1" lower. I will be using my Blue Ox BXW2000 hitch SWAYPRO reciever.
love it because its nice and sturdy I feel i can pull anything
Hasn’t fallen off yet. Looks good
Very heavy duty, looks nice and great q uality
Heavy duty, little more drilling than I would like. And had to dent in the 5” exhaust so it didn’t rub.
Solid Hitch, Twice as thick as stock. More bolts connecting it to the frame. Hangs down lower, so if you have an aesthetic need, this is not your hitch. However if you want a beast to yank trailers around, you have found the right hitch. 2013 Chevy 2500 HD.
Well designed and fit well. The only challenging part was drilling the frame on passenger side. Hole needed to be directly over tailpipe. But everything lined up and fit well. Definitely a two person job.
Impressive hitch and fits my needs for those heavy loads
Great delivery, will be installing soon!
Hitch receiver is quality, hardware is on point, instructions are great. Installed on my 2011 3500 with 2018 bed and bumper in ten minutes.
Fit good put it on a 2015 2500hd with service bed worked great
Solid construction
Drilling the whole in frame for the front bolts is the hardest part. But doable, would of felt better if the back to side straps used both factory wholes on frame instead of just the lower one only.
Over all I am well please with the look and fit of the reciever. Ready to put it to work here soon!
Fast shipping box was roughed up a little but everything was there
Fits great. Only thing missing in the listing is you have to drill the 2 furthest holes on the hitch to bolt it on a short box truck. Not a big deal.
arrived fast. installed had to dill 2o big deal. will have to move aftermarket tail pipe. love it. this is all part of adding aftermarket equipment.
Beautiful head it's very well built but it didn't come with all the hardware needed to fully bolt on.
I installed on a 6.5 ft bed, you will need to drill holes through the frame for this to work on a 6.5ft bed which is a pain. The quality of the hitch is great and looks to be well designed.
Fast shipping wasn't direct bolt in for my shortbed Duramax but after a few holes drilled it went right in . I upgraded bolts to grade 10 with 1/4 inch thick washers for durability . Happy with overall purchase so far
