Need to know if I have a 2 1/2 or 3” reciever. Inside measures aprox. 2 3/4”

Without knowing the model number it simply is not possible to tell you with absolute certainty what size receiver you have, but the largest receiver size for aftermarket hitches for a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 or 3500 is 2-1/2 inches, such as what is on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15860. That said, the inside of the receiver should only measure 2-1/2 inches, and even taking into account some variance hitch by hitch, one that measures 2-3/4 inches is particularly large.

It seems unlikely the hitch started with a 3 inch receiver and somehow retracted (although I suppose anything is possible) so an educated guess is that you had a 2-1/2 inch receiver. Since your receiver is in between sizes, if it is an aftermarket hitch I strongly recommend replacing it with the aforementioned Curt if your '13 Silverado is a 2500 or 3500.
