Question:

Hello!! Im needing some help with my truck/camper/horse trailer combo. I really, really want this to be a safe travel situation for my horses and need to get this right! so this is what i have and what Im buying or at least i hope I can get based on towing SAFETY, I hope you guys can help me get my situation right: TRUCK: 2013 GMC Sierra Denali 2500. It appears that these numbers are important: MAX Trailer weight= 9,300 lbs, GCWR=16,000 lbs HORSE TRAILER: Empty weight = 3,260 lbs, fully loaded with horses = approx 7,000. lbs., approximately 3,200 of that is over the axels horse weight CAMPER: weight = $1,795. lbs 2019 palamino backpack ss1251 there is almost 2foot beyond the back of the truck bed so i will also need an extended hitch. do you think this is enough information to recommend a weight distribution system and elongated hitch combo? any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!! ps: I bought my hitch from you in 2013 model # C4590 - 14,000 LBS THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

For a 24 inch hitch extender the best option is the Curt part # C45048 cut down to the 24 inch length. This has a capacity of 8,000 lb trailer weight when used with a WD system like you mentioned. Since this is the only extender option that's going to work we have to build everything around it. This means you'll need to install a 2-1/2 inch hitch on your 2013 GMC Sierra 2500. For that you'd want the Curt part # C15860 which is a fit for your truck.

Due to the weight of your camper you'll need a weight distribution system with more tongue weight capacity. For that you'll want the Reese part # RP66084 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs like you'd need.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
