Features to know about

Handle Your Bike Racks and Small Trailers with Confidence: Class III 2" Receiver

This Curt hitch receiver gives you a solid mount for bike racks, cargo carriers, and small trailers. The 2" x 2" receiver opening is the standard size for most accessories, so you can easily swap between hauling gear or towing a small camper or boat. With a Class III rating, it’s built for up to 5,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 500 lbs tongue weight—enough strength for light to moderate towing tasks without feeling overbuilt.

Spend More Time Driving and Less Time Wrenching: No-Weld Bolt-On Installation

You don’t need a lift or fancy tools to get this hitch installed. It bolts onto the vehicle frame using the included hardware kit—no welding required. The precision robotic welds make for a perfect fit that lines up with factory holes, so you’re not fighting to make things align. It’s designed for straightforward DIY installs in the driveway.

Built to Last Through Years of Use: Fully Welded Steel with Gloss Black Powder Coat

The powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant, holding up well against road grime, salt, and weather. The gloss black finish sits over a protective base coat for double the rust protection while keeping it looking clean under the bumper. The round-tube design adds a simple, finished look that blends in instead of standing out.

Ready to Tow on Your Terms: Works with Weight Distribution Systems

When you need more stability, this hitch can handle up to 5,500 lbs gross trailer weight and 500 lbs tongue weight when used with a weight distribution setup. That extra capacity brings smoother handling and steadier towing when you load up for longer trips.

This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.

by:

Easy to install just bolt on. Have to move the trailer plug down though. Im a metal fabricator so it was easy to just make a new plug bracket. But it wouldn’t be fo bad just adding to the existing one. Overall i was satisfied

by:

Product fits well and lines up perfect with existing holes. Only advise I have is to have an extra set of hands to help you. I did it alone and wish I had some help.

by:

Due to the weight, installation was challenging since I didn't get help but using a floor jack helped tremendously. Simply bolt on and torque, it took just 30 minutes.
I used it to tow a rental trailer but it was a bit noisy since the hitch I bought fit loose which surprised me since it was also a Curt. I experienced no problems.

by:

Installation instructions were great. Product is working well. One issue though. Though hitch blocks access to the factory-installed wiring harness.

by:

Receiver is great. We use it for our bike rack and tow our travel trailer. Would recommend this product for anyone looking for a hitch receiver.

by:

Love the hitch. Love etrailer. Zero issues.

One thing I would recommend for anyone installing on an older vehicle, have a tap and die set handy. I installed on a 2005 GX470 with a very clean frame however I needed a tap to get some rust out of the threads.

Another thing to keep in mind with the GX470 is the relocation of the 7 pin wiring harness. I bent mine up because I thought that was the best solution, however it was a pain and added time to my install.

by:

This item was ordered for my 2007 4Runner. I was impressed by the construction and finish on the Curt hitch. Only concern I had was during installation, as viewed from the back of the vehicle, after installing the left side bolts to the frame - the right side of the mounting bracket to the frame was too narrow. As a result, I had to use a pry bar to force the hitch mount outward to get the bolts in. I've been a vehicle maintenance guy for over 50 years so it wasn't something I couldn't resolve. Other than that small issue, I'm very happy with the hitch.

by:

Product arrived quickly and as described. Bought Curt hitch 13445 for my 2006 Lexus GX. It is a sturdy hitch and was pretty easy to install. The tow hook came off easily with a breaker bar. The installation video helped a lot. I had to remove the driver side fascia but not the right. I then bolted back the fascia after I removed the tow hook assembly. The holes on the hitch were aligned a fit well. I installed it myself but it would be easier with two people. etrailer is a great company with great customer service. I’m very satisfied.

by:

Straightforward install- impressed by etrailer website and experience throughout the process.

The only minor design issue in the hitch is that it covers the 4runner's wiring connector. Others bend the plate or install a new one, I have not yet but realized the other day that I need to move a trailer.

by:

The trailer hitch installed easily on my Lexus GX470 once I cleaned up the threads of the weld nuts on the frame.

E trailer was recommended to me by my son, because of the the great service he received. I, too, am impressed with the service. The items arrived on time and were exactly what was described. I will not hesitate to do business again with E trailer!

I still love the hitch. The only complaint is that the hitch doesnt have a bracket to mount the trailer plug into.

by:

Fast delivery and easy Install I'm very happy with it and recommend it to everyone

by:

Since my vehicle is 18 years old I had to chase the threads other wise it was an easy install!

by:

The receiver hitch was installed on a 2003 4Runner so a weight distribution set could be used; it replaced the factory hitch.
The price was great, installation was done at a local shop and I finished adding the 7-pin power socket.
The only thing that would have been better is if a power socket fitting was included with the hitch,
No complaints about the hitch.

There have been no problems with the hitch. The hitch levels the 4Runner and maintains good wheel contact on the road.

by:

etrailer delivered the product within a few days as promised. I installed the trailer hitch onto a 2008 Toyota 4Runner within about 1 hour. The most difficult part was removing the tow hook that was on the vehicle. I soaked the bolts with WD40 and let it sit for a day. Then needed to use a breaker bar to get the bolts free. I also sprayed all the bolt holes with WD40 and cleaned them with a wire brush so the new bolts would go in easier. Be sure and insert the new bolts about a quarter of the way in before installing the hitch just to be sure they will thread in easy. If you can do the prep work ahead of time installation will go pretty quick.

Product working out great.

by:

My hitch arrived as scheduled. Put it on just as easy. Plan on putting it to use hauling my Harley. Everything bolted rite up no problem.

by:

Easy install I am 73 yrs old and did the complete install alone. I would highly recommend this hitch to anyone

by:

Great it look pretty sturdy!!

by:

Easy to attach and a good fit to vehicle frame. The hitch does slightly come into contact with the lower fascia trim but shouldn't be a problem.

Fast, tracked shipment from etrailer. Thanks, George.

by:

My only problem is it covers up the plug your trailer plugs into. You’ll have to modify it some how!! Other than that, I very nice hitch. Why I gave the 4 star rating..

by:

I can't be any more satisfied with both the service and product I recieved from etrailer. My hitch arrived exactly when they said it would and was very easy to install. I had it on and ready to go within 30 minutes with no help necessary. Thanks again for the excellent service!

by:

Very happy with purchase of this trailer hitch. Installed onto my 2008 Toyota 4Runner 2wd SR5 4.0 with no difficulties at all by myself. I recommend a second person to help lift the other side and to speed up the installation time but it’s possible with one man. 8 bolts, half inch drive, 19mm and 13mm sockets are all that is needed. Estimated novice time is 50 minutes and that is exactly what it took me. No cutting of fascia necessary. However, I did have to unhook the rubber latch on the tail pipe to get the passenger side bolts in (super easy and no problem to do). Two day shipping as promised straight to the front door. Highly recommend etrailer and this hitch receiver.

by:

I purchased this to mount on a 2009 4Runner for use with a bicycle hitch rack. It was very easy to install. Installation took about 45 minutes (with a 14 yr old helping). I did not have to move or drop the muffler; instead, I used a flat wrench to work around the muffler. The most difficult part of the install was removing the tow hook from the 4Runner prior to getting started.

Once installed, the hitch sticks out about 3 inches past the bumper. I was not expecting it to stick out this much, but it seems like a necessary part of the design due to where the tire is mounted.

by:

Arrived in a very timely manner in good shape. Easy install with instructions. I chose not to drop the exhaust as you can get the bolts in easy enough with it on. For the factory seven way plug and bracket i just bent it back and it works great. I have ordered through etrailer before and will do it again in the future ! thanks guys

After a year I have had no problems towing my 6x10 cargo trailer or my tent trailer. Infact it still has no scratches even where the hitch slides in. Thanks for a quality product. Tyler

by:

The hitch is nice and beefy. It took a little wiggling to get it in. A little warpage in the welding process but that's expected. Just a little pry bar and muscle and it lined up well. Recommend

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2007 Toyota 4Runner that Dpes Not Require Fascia Trimming
For your 2007 Toyota 4Runner, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13445. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle, and unlike the Draw-Tite model that you referenced, you will not need to do any trimming or modifications on the rear bumper fascia during installation. This hitch will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation and provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening. I have included the complete written installation instructions so...

  • How To Install A Trailer Hitch When The Vehicles Factory Weld Nuts Are Ruined
Hello Christopher. Broken weldnuts in the frame can definitely be a pain, but it is still possible to install the 13445 hitch on your 4Runner. What you will do is use a bolt leader like part # 80101-1 to fish the bolts into the frame from a different opening then out through the hitch mounting hole. You will probably have to drill out the factory weldnuts if they are still present. I have linked a video below that shows this process in detail. Do not drill new bolt holes in the hitch. This...

  • Does Installation of Curt Hitch Require Specific Bumper or Modification on 2007 Toyota 4Runner
Hi Todd; the Curt # 13445 will install just under the bumper on your 2007 4Runner as seen in the picture below. You do not need a specific bumper or any kind of special installation/bumper modification for this to fit. However, if you have the factory 7-way installed you will need to relocate it and replace the mounting bracket. Depending on the style of the connector you can use the # 18138 or # HM40978 for a replacement bracket.

As the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13445 is designed to fit a 2008 Toyota 4Runner with stock exhaust, so I cannot say for sure if it will fit with a dual Borla exhaust system. However, this hitch will attach to the bottom of the frame and the cross-tube will measure the same as how inside the frame will. So if your exhaust system sits outside the frame of your 4Runner, there should not be any issue installing the hitch with it.
