Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Honda Ridgeline

Today on this 2007 Honda Ridgeline we're going to install part number 118400 from Curt. First step is to go ahead and lower the tailgate and remove the two screws that attach the tail lights to the vehicle on the drivers side. We'll go ahead and remove the tail lights and then disconnect the wiring harness. Now there's two little tabs. There's one tab that connects the wire harness to the body, you have to push that away to release it and one the second tab we push down and that will allow u s to pull the connector apart. We'll go ahead and repeat the same process over on the passenger side.

Now we can go ahead and start installing the wire harness. We'll take the four pole end of the harness and drop it down through the space between the bumper cover and the body on the drivers side. We'll also do the same thing with the one half of the T connector with the green wire. We'll run that down through as well. Then we'll lower the module down as well.

Then we'll go ahead and install the T connector onto our wire harness on the drivers side and that will be the T connector with the yellow wire. We'll snap that to the wire harness. We'll also take the white wire with the ring terminal and ground that to the body. Now we can go ahead and continue with the four pole wire harness. We'll run that to the center of the hitch.

We'll also go ahead and run the other T connector over to the passenger side. Then we'll go ahead and run it through the body work and up to the tail light on the passenger side and repeat the same process we did on the drivers side. On the passenger side there's no ground wire to worry about. Over on the passenger side we'll use a zip tie to hold our wire into place. Then on both sides we can go ahead and reinstall the tail lights.

Then we'll go back underneath the vehicle and secure our wires to the hitch. We'll also find a good spot to clean off the sheet metal to attach our module to. That'll finish it for our install of part number 118400 from Curt, on our 2007 Honda Ridgeline.

Had a problem installing but after speaking with customer service I learned it was a vehicle side issue. Etrailer was absolutely correct and their instructions enabled me to solve the problem in 60 seconds. I appreciate that. Otherwise this product was a snap to install and it is working nicely. Installed on a 2008 ridgeline needing a taillight converter between vehicle and 7 blade rv. The passenger side wouldn’t plug in. Turns out when I pulled the vehicle connectors apart a piece from the male side was stuck in the female side. Pulled that out and put it where it belonged and good to go. Who knows how long it might have taken me to figure that out on my own. 666291

The wiring and connections were complete and solid, the length of the wiring was adequate, the zip ties for holding the wiring in place were only 6" and needed to be at least 11" for my Draw Tite trailer hitch installation. i had to buy a bag of black 11" zip ties to complete the job and make it look solid, a zip tie can always be cut off if its too long. The directions were clear and straightforward, it was a nice Tekonsha product, i have used a Tekonsha brake and trailer harness before and i am confident i will get many years of use from this installation. 610039

Quick delivery, quality looking product and hooked up well. Only problem was with instructions/video on how to get the taillight wiring connector apart and which way to pull the taillight to remove it. That was the most difficult thing for me and took the most amount of time. There was plenty of wire. Would recommend doing some home work about trail light removal before starting install. However, I would recommend product and supplier but there is room for improvements with instructions. 436067

This thing was a sinch to put on! Had it done in 15 minutes and I'm an amateur when it comes to this. The instuctional video on the website we're easy to understand (even better than the written instructions that came with it), plus I'm colorblind and still was able to clearly understand what needed to be done. Now my family and I can go camping with our truck again. Also too, the wiring harness came super fast, 2 days sooner than expected. I'm glad I found this website! 404641

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2007 Honda Ridgeline with an Existing 4-Way Connector
  • To add a 7-way trailer connector to your 2007 Honda Ridgeline our # ETBC7 kit will do exactly what you want. It's intended for electric brake controllers but not having a controller connected won't hurt anything. And if you install the # ETBC7 you'll already have everything you need to add a controller later. Another option is to install the adapter, part # 37185, that is included with the # ETBC7 kit and not connect the other three wires. This way you'll have a 7-way connector but...

  • How to Wire Bully Light-Up Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A on 2013 Honda Ridgeline
  • The Bully Light-Up Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007A will connect to a 4-pole flat trailer wiring connector on your 2013 Ridgeline. If your truck does not have a working 4-pole flat trailer connector it is easy to add one using part # 118400. This wiring harness simply plugs in at your truck's taillights and no cutting or splicing of wires is required. If you have a different type of trailer connector on the truck please let me know so I can recommend a suitable adapter. I have...

  • Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with Electric Brakes and 6-Way Trailer Connector
  • What you need depends on exactly what you already have on your 2008 Honda Ridgeline. If the Ridgeline has a 7-way trailer connector already, you can use a 7-way to 6-way adapter # 47549. For a brake controller I suggest the Prodigy P2 # 90885. It's one of the easiest controllers to use and setup. If your Honda has a 7-way connector you'll also have the brake controller connector under your dash and can use # 3070-P. If you don't have the 7-way a controller will need to be hardwired...

  • Installing a 4-Pole to 7-Way Adapter on 2014 Honda Ridgeline
  • Once the # 118400 is installed, you can use the # ETBC7 install kit. The kit includes all the necessary wire, circuit breakers and a # 37185 adapter to convert the 4 pole to a 7-way. The power from the brake controller, as you said, is delivered on the blue wire. The black wire would run to the positive battery terminal through a 40 amp circuit breaker like part # 9510. This circuit would serve as a 12-volt accessory power feed to the trailer. There's no need to hook up the 12-volt...

  • Factory Trailer Brake Controller Plug Location for a 2011 Honda Ridgeline
  • From what I was able to find, if your 2011 Honda Ridgeline has a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector, then the harness will be located underneath and to the left of the steering column taped to another wiring harness near the brake pedal. If your Ridgeline did not come with a factory installed 7-Way then you will need to hardwire the brake controller by first installing a 4-Way, if needed, # 118400, and then a 4 and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. I have included some links to...

  • Troubleshooting Turn Signal Issue with Wiring Harness 118400 on a 2007 Honda Ridgeline
  • I would check a few things first, before replacing the unit. First, you should check the ground wire at the screw you should have installed and make sure that it is firmly connected to a clean piece of metal, i.e. a location without paint, rust, or buildup. I also recommend checking the ground wires on your trailer, including the ground on the trailer connector, and any trailer lights. If your trailer lights are grounded through the mounting hardware, make sure that no rust or buildup...

  • How to Disconnect the Factory Taillight Connectors on a 2012 Honda Ridgeline for Trailer Wiring
  • Disconnecting the factory taillight connectors on the 2012 Honda Ridgeline requires pressing on the correct locking tab on the wiring connector. I produced a short video showing how to disconnect the wiring harness so you can install the T-One Wiring Harness, # 118400, on your vehicle.

  • Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way and Brake Controller on a 2014 Honda Ridgeline
  • First, consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question. Installing a 7-Way is going to require hardwiring. What you could do is ask the dealer to install it and I am sure they would have no problem charging you...
