Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Had a problem installing but after speaking with customer service I learned it was a vehicle side issue. Etrailer was absolutely correct and their instructions enabled me to solve the problem in 60 seconds. I appreciate that. Otherwise this product was a snap to install and it is working nicely. Installed on a 2008 ridgeline needing a taillight converter between vehicle and 7 blade rv. The passenger side wouldn’t plug in. Turns out when I pulled the vehicle connectors apart a piece from the male side was stuck in the female side. Pulled that out and put it where it belonged and good to go. Who knows how long it might have taken me to figure that out on my own. 666291

I had 2 problems installing it. First your installation video needs to show mounting the box part as low as possible with the 2 sided adhesive. I ended up having to go back and lower it so that the wires were long enough to reach the passenger side tail light plug. Second, there was a thin rectangular piece of plastic around the outside of the inside of the connector for the stock tail light to plug into. It took me some time to figure out that I needed to remove it so the tail light plug would go all the way in. Very frustrating. I only figured it out by comparing the right side to the left side connector. 859770

2007 Honda Ridgeline

The installation took me two hours to complete. The video and written instructions were helpful but neither addressed all the unforeseen problems encountered. First of all, the process for disconnecting the wiring plug from the clip on the truck body on the driver's side of the 2007 Honda Ridgeline is different than on the passenger side. On the driver's side of the Ridgeline you have to depress the locking device and pull up to disconnect the plug. On the passenger side you must depress and pull down. I also had difficulty attaching the T-Connector Black Box to truck body. The wiring for the Black Box is so short that I had to lay on the ground and extend my arm up a narrow cavity and attach it the box to the body by feel. I expect that the reviewer who indicated that they installed the wiring harness in 20 minutes had some prior experience installing this wiring harness. A person installing one for the first time will need more than their lunch break to complete the installation. That said, the new wiring harness works great and is a big improvement over the cut and splice routine. I would buy it again. 797280

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2007 Honda Ridgeline
The trailer wiring harness options we have for a 2007 Honda Ridgeline all have built-in protection to isolate itself from the vehicle in the event of a fault. That said, the best one we offer is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118400 which in our experience is the most durable and reliable option. It offers plug-n-pay installation, has diodes to prevent damage to the vehicle wiring, and pulls power from the battery so you won't strain the vehicles...

  • Reverse Lockout Not Working Using 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter on 2008 Honda Ridgeline
A 4-Way trailer wiring harness such as # 118400 has the basic lighting functions but does not have a reverse light function and that is what you need to activate an electric reverse lockout on a surge coupler. Since you already have the 4-Way plugged into an adapter to use the 7-Way on the trailer connector you just have to activate the reverse light circuit on that 7-Way adapter. To do this look on the back of the 7-Way adapter. There are likely some wires not connected to anything....

  • Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2007 Honda Ridgeline
Unless the vehicle is equipped with the OEM 7-way (apparently it's not), the 12-volt circuit wouldn't be ran from the front of the vehicle. You can run the circuit yourself using a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1. You'll need to run the wire through a 40 amp circuit breaker, part # 9510. You'll want to route the wire in such a way that it avoids anything that's hot or moving, like suspension, steering and exhaust components. If you're wanting to install a brake controller,...

  • Troubleshooting Turn Signal Issue with Wiring Harness 118400 on a 2007 Honda Ridgeline
I would check a few things first, before replacing the unit. First, you should check the ground wire at the screw you should have installed and make sure that it is firmly connected to a clean piece of metal, i.e. a location without paint, rust, or buildup. I also recommend checking the ground wires on your trailer, including the ground on the trailer connector, and any trailer lights. If your trailer lights are grounded through the mounting hardware, make sure that no rust or buildup...

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118400. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. • Left Turn Signal and Brake Lights Do Not Work On Trailer or 4-Way on 2006 Honda Ridgeline
You have done all of the correct testing and it does indicate that the converter in harness # 118400 has gone bad and needs to be replaced. There could be any number of reasons for a converter to go bad. It could be a short on the trailer that blew the box, protecting the vehicle wiring like it was designed. Check the trailer to make sure the grounds are all attached to clean bare metal surfaces. Also make sure that the trailer and vehicle side connectors are free of dirt and corrosion....

  • T-One Wiring Harness To Replace Factory Trailer Wiring On 2008 Honda Ridgeline
Yes. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118400, can be used to bypass factory tow package wiring in your 2008 Honda Ridgeline. As long as the functions at your tail lights are working correctly, this wiring harness can be used to give you the 4-way flat connector. Before replacing, you may want to check fuses and put a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the wires to test functions.
