Brake Controller for 2010 Honda Ridgeline Towing a 4000lb Trailer

I just bought a 2010 Ridgeline RT. The dealer is going to install the harness, it is pre-wired I think and I wanted to know what kind of brake controller is best and do I need anything extra from you for the installation. I assume that if I bring the brake controller to the dealer when theyre installing the harness, theyll put it in, no? Im new at this, so pretend that Im a child, because I have no idea what Im talking about! :- Well be pulling right now a 2000lb trailer and will be upgrading to a 4000lb trailer-thats why we got the Ridgeline we had a honda odyssey, which could only pull 3500lbs Thank you so much!

Did your 2010 Honda Ridgeline come equipped with a 7-way plug from the factory? If so, the best choice for your application would be the P2 brake controller and brake control wiring adapter kit # 90885 and # 3070-P.
Ridgeline models that are equipped with the factory 7-way are pre-wired with a connector for the brake controller. The # 90885 and # 3070-P brake controller and wiring adapter kit will make the installation on your vehicle very simple, because the unit would be able to be plugged right in. If your dealer is installing the brake controller, they would definitely be able to use the wiring adapter to complete the installation. No other parts would be required.
If your vehicle did not come equipped with a 7-way plug from the factory, the brake controller # 90885 would still be a good choice, but the included wire pigtail would be used to hardwire the brake controller to your vehicle.
If your vehicle does not have an existing 4-way plug, you would first need to install T-one vehicle wiring harness # 118400. Then, you would use brake controller installation kit # ETBC7 to complete your installation. Your dealer or general mechanic would still be able to do this installation for you.
