Video Transcript for MORryde 5th Wheel Cross Brace Landing Gear Stabilizer Review

Hi there fifth-wheel owners. Today we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install MORryde's Landing Gear Stabilizers. These stabilizers are going to be a significant upgrade, in keeping your gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer from rocking back and forth. We work with a lot of different components out there, and one of the most popular ones are landing gears that come down, a four or six point system, so you've got points at each side. And I'll say, right now, we're just sitting on the axles with our landing gear down here in the front, and this has made almost as much of a difference as an entire system, and we don't even have any of those jacks down. We're just using the landing gear in the front right now.

Now, before we put our landing gear stabilizers in place, we want to kind of get a baseline of how much movement our trailer has. And this is pretty common, somebody in your trailer, maybe in the morning your kids get up, they start walking around and it starts to move your trailer, or if it's a really windy day. Your trailer's got a big wide side, so it's going to get a lot of cross winds, that can really push on it. And this can just be kind of jarring inside the trailer. It can wake you up in the middle of the night, or if you're walking through your camper, you can lose your balance.

So we're going to go ahead now and install our stabilizer jacks, and then we're going to see the comparison on how much movement we had with and without. So I went ahead and moved our forklift out of the way. You can pull your truck out of the way. And then I just double checked the tension by twisting the rods until we had tension on each one of them. Let's go ahead and recheck it now.

And I mean, this thing is solid. I couldn't get any movement out of this, no matter how hard I tried. The way it was before with the stabilization jack, I'm pretty sure I could have kept rocking on it until the legs just broke off. I mean, it was just, night and day difference. I can't believe how solid it is right now.

These stabilizers are able to prevent a lot of movement and sway by bracing the legs. These legs are multiple components, and without these in place, you get a lot of rock, because of all the different pivot points located down in the leg. When we're rocking it you can really see these legs move. By putting this X cross brace in here, we're supporting here, where the leg is solid, and providing a solid beam down here to the bottom, preventing that wobble that we had before. Putting one of these on each leg ensures that we can't move back and forth at all here in the front. These are restricted to being used with square tubed landing gear. So as long as your trailer has square tubes, this will likely work in most situations, because you can see here that it is adjustable for various widths as necessary, and there's tons of holes in this thing. I mean we could go way wider if we needed to, or a lot closer together, depending on the size of our trailer. And also the height, because as our trailer gets taller, we need a little bit longer length, but you can see we're only about midway now, we've got so much left in there. And if you want to make sure that this is going to fit on your trailer, you can go ahead and take some measurements to see the lengths that you would need. We've got a minimum length of 54 inches for each bar and a maximum length of 80 inches. And these are not only just great at the campsite, but over those long months during the winter where you're not using your camper. These are also great for storage, just to help ensure that it stays solid in it's position and it can help minimize any wear and tear on components as it gets heavy cross winds and is just sitting out there. So now you've had a good time at your campsite. You're getting ready to pack up and go home. Well, the first thing you need to do is remove your stabilizers. You cannot operate the jacks while these are in place. The bracketry that you installed can remain in place, but not the stabilizer. So to remove it, first we're going to twist it, to take that tension off that we've placed on it. Once you've got tension released, you'll just simply remove the pins located on each side and then the arm will come out of there and we can just pull it out. You can either re-collapse it down to make it smaller so you can fit in your compartment, or you can leave it right here so you know it's at the right length to hook it back up. We'll go ahead and remove the other one. And then we'll get these stored away. We've gone ahead and hooked our forklift backup. You can hook your truck back up as well, if you're doing this at home. We can remove the strip that was covering up our landing gear and you can see here, that we can retract our legs, while our clamps are still in place, it's just those crossbars that we need to remove. And they're slow, but you can see that they are retracting, and you can see here, that the path that's going to take this, it's going to go all the way up, just like it did before. It's not going to have any issues with this retracting because our bracketry is not in a location where it's going to cause an issue. And you can see here, our drop leg still functions as well. We can go ahead and pull the pin, push it back up, it does take up a couple of holes, so it is going to be slightly lower than what it was before, but this is still going to drastically reduce the amount of time to get your landing gear retracted and back into position. And that completes our look at MORryde's 5th Wheel Landing Gear Stabilizers..

The initial problems with broken box and losing parts in shipping were solved early. The lacking instructions were also solved also in a timely manner. The stabilizers are installed and work as good as hoped! Now I just have to level up the 5th wheel and line up the holes put the pins in, turn until snug and I’m done.

Must buy! We have a 36’ Forest River 5th wheel, no auto levelers. Our trailer would move side to side easily even with King pin stand. Installed this in 30 minutes. Tightened up the shafts and couldn’t budge the trailer. I’m 300lbs and put all my weight into it, my son said he could feel I was trying to move it but didn’t shake at all. Game changer. No more side to side. Can’t say enough on how much this stopped the side to side movement. So easy to install. Set up one set takes 20 seconds to tighten. Must buy if your having the same problem I was having. Wife can sleep better even when I roll to the side. No shakes!

Review from a similar X-Brace Stabilizer in Camper Jacks

I bought 2 sets of these, one for the front and one for the rear (I wish they sold a full set of four as a package) These stabilizers remove almost all the bounce from the camper. The only bounce now is if you actually jump up and down. I picked the MORryrde over others because there was no drilling into the frame, it was a simple bolt on install making the extra cost worth it. I did have to buy longer bolts for my particular jacks.

I have installed the scissor jack cross bars on front and back of our 30 ft elite passport travel trailer. I can still feel movement when you walk around in the trailer. Not sure if they are worth the xxx.xx I spent on them.

Comments
I am sorry you are still having a lot of movement. Please note that scissor jacks must be mounted at a 90 degree angle from your trailer frame and also the mounting plate to the jack must be 3 eights in diameter.

This is very good system for our use. Would have given 5 stars but the ratchet strap was missing. No big deal as I have many. It’s just the point.

We haven’t yet tried this stabilizer out yet but will at or next camp trip in a couple of weeks. There’s no installation instructions enclosed and I don’t see a link on their site for one. I imagine we can figure it out but would be nice to have the help.
