Video Transcript for Curt Class III Ball Mount Review

Today we'll be having a look at the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2-inch ball and 2-inch drop. Weight it up to 7,500 pounds. Its part number is C45036. One nice thing about this kit is once you have your hitch on your vehicle and your wiring on your vehicle, you're still missing one critical component in order to tow your trailer. You're missing the connection between your vehicle and the trailer. This ball mount takes care of the rest of the package there for you. You got your ball here, which makes a physical connection to the trailer coupler and the mount here which lies into your hitch and is secured by this pin and clip.

And all, the pin and clip, the ball mount and the ball are all included in one convenient package. This ball mount has a 7,500 pound gross trailer weight rating. A 750 pound max tongue weight rating. Comes with a standard 2-inch ball here. That is chrome-plated so it'll be rust resistant.

Our ball mount itself has a nice gloss black powder coat finish so it'll give us many years of rust resistance as well. inaudible 00:01:02 2-inch drop once again, or three quarter inch rise if we flip it over and change the orientation of our ball. This ball is already torqued back from the factory so we don't need to worry about tightening it down or installing it, it's already ready to go. If you need to change out your ball to a different size, like a two and five sixteens, or an inch and seven eights, all you need to do is purchase another ball that has a one inch diameter shank, needs to install a one inch diameter hole of our ball mount itself. Next we'll give you some measurements here. The overall length of our ball mount here is about eleven and three quarters inches.

We're looking at about seven and a half inches from the center of the five eights diameter hitch pin hole to the center of our two inch ball right here. This ball mount has your standard two inch drop, which goes from the top of the two inch opening here to the bottom here where the ball rests against. If you want to take off the ball, flip over here and put the ball around by taking off the nut and the washer, change the direction of it. inaudible 00:02:03 go from the top of the 2 inch receiver frame here, to the top here, it'll give you a three quarter of an inch rise. Now that we've been gone over some features, we'll show how to install it. Take the ball mount, we'll slide it in here, making sure the ball is facing up.

We'll take our five eights diameter hitch pin hole and align it up with the hitch pin hole in our receiver. We'll take our included pin and clip apply it through and secure the clip. Now our ball amount is secure and our hitch are ready to tow your trailer. With our ball mount installed inaudible 00:02:50 to the trailer here, all you can do is low our trailer down into the ball mount and we can hook up the rest of the way with our safety chains and electrical connections and we can go on the road on a journey. That complete our look at the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2-inch ball and 2-inch drop. Weight it up to 7,500 pounds. Part number C45036.

I very recently ordered, a Curt class 111 Ball mount with 2" drop- 7500 lbs and an adapter 7 pole to 4 pole with tester and cover, as a first time customer . I was needing to pull my golf cart and trailer to a new home . I chose the 5 to 7 day standard mail delivery. I very quickly received an email from ETrailer customer service Rep. George J. To advise that he was turning my order around quicker with a 3 to 5 day delivery. This was my first experience with ordering a product from your company and I was extremely impressed with ETrailer outstanding customer service. I mentioned this to a neighbor of mine and He stated to me that he had bought several things from ETrailer and had always had excellent service. Thank You ETrailer and George J. For Your outstanding Customer service. 573579

One word-Perfect! I make all of my purchases online, and using etrailer.com for my recent purchase of a trailer hitch, wiring harness, luggage carrier, and trailer ball were one of the best online purchase experiences yet. The website is awesome, the how to videos are unmatched, and superb cusomer service. Highly recommended! Add all that to great variety of products! 387491

I am very pleased with the hitch. Along with the hitch, I ordered the ball mount and the wiring harness. Delivery was on point. I was going to have my mechanic install the hitch, but after watching your video a few times, I decided to tackle the job myself. It did take me about three hours to complete the installation. Of course in your video, it's all done with a lift which I didn't have. Followed the video and the installation came out great. Great product and video to referred to when needed. 294452

Install took a little more time than planned, did not lower the muffler. The four bolts from left to right, number two and four were threaded. 2015 Rubicon, had to get the number two bolt started first and then the others worked fine. Start the threaded bolts first. Electrical hookup easy. Have not towed yet, don't expect problems. 267195

Great Product. Installation was straightforward and took about an hour. The longest part was cleaning the rust out of the weld nuts with WD-40 and the tube brush. Once they were cleaned installation was simple. 442857

Overall it has been a pretty good hitch. Was a bit harder to install than I thought it would be but was able to do it in a couple hours with two people. My biggest complaint is that the hitch receiver and hitch is a very loose fit. When I have pulled a trailer, the hitch wiggles inside the receiver and making A LOT of noise. I ended up wrapping the hitch with tape to try to dampen the noise and tighten the fit a little more. Hard to imagine they are normally that loose of a fit but maybe I got a bad lemon. 433924

I bought both the hitch and ball receiver. The ball receiver was well package and arrived unscathed...unfortunately the hitch arrived damaged or poorly painted. As the attached photo show a bit of sliver metal is visible and I'm concerned that rust will attack and weaken the structure. This uneven and rough area is located on both sides and at both ends. I not sure if it is all damage because of the roughness of the blemish. The area pictured is worst of the four damages. The shipping carton shows damage and repair to the box tear. The tear was repaired with clear tape and staples. The metal staples could have caused some damage exposing the bear metal. I just happen to have some black spray-can paint and will cover the bear metal before installing later the morning. Thank you for this product review opportunity. 444781

I recently purchased this hitch and related wiring accessories from etrailer for my 05 Hyundai Tucson. Following the included installation instructions I found the hitch easy to install. Total install time including the wiring adapter was approximately 1.5 hours without rushing. 482733

This hitch was installed on my 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited. The website is fantastic and makes finding the correct products for your vehicle very easy. The hitch arrived in only a few days and came complete with all the necessary installation accessories. The hitch comes with fish wire for the frame bolts so you don't need to fuss with buying fish wire. Some reviews stated that you can go in from the inside of the vehicle but this is totally unnecessary and more work. Just follow the instructions, with exception of the muffler heat shield. You can drill 1/2" holes through the heat shield in the dimpled areas corresponding to where the instructions tell you to cut out the heat shield (see some of the other reviews for more detail on this). These holes allow you to securely fasten the heat shield over the hitch using the hitch bolts. Make sure you have a torque wrench and an 11/16" deep socket to tighten the frame bolts. I would also recommend removing the muffler which is very simple. Lube the muffler mounts with WD-40 to facilitate the removal of the muffler. You will save at least $300 installing this yourself. 485072

1992 Toyota pickup: As far as etrailer goes I was impressed. I ordered on a Wednesday at 4:30 pm. When I got home from work Friday (48 hours later) it was on my front porch. Now that's fast shipping! The hitch was a good fit for 1992 Toyota pickup. The exhaust hanger was a slight problem as other reviews have mentioned. No drilling was required, I just had to grind the clearance notch for the hanger put in by the manufacturer about 1/2 inch deeper. The notch was there just not deep enough. Other than that it was a perfect fit. Installation took about 2 hours. Looks good with the chrome bumper. I uploaded a picture of the notch. 422168

Incredible price on a great hitch from Curt. I have no idea how etrailer can offer free shipping on something like this, but they do. Awesome. I ordered the ball mount complete with 2" ball and pin/clip which was likewise priced extremely competitively. The hitch bolted up to my Transit T-250 easily. I took the extra step of running a tap into the (4) unthreaded holes on the van, but it's not necessary. For me, it just made the install a little easier and made me feel better. The new Transits are generally lower in the rear vs. the old E series van's, so I flipped the ball mount into the "rise" position to get the right ball height. Stated specs for the ball mount were 2" Drop and 3/4" Rise. 429381

I Hope this review help for the piloteers. 374703

A great beginners ball mount. I got this to hook up a U-Haul trailer to my 2014 Murano. Worked great, with no issues. I ended up buying it from etrailer because they had very good video's that let me know what the differences were and what measurements I need to take to insure that I got the correct item. Plus the ball was already mounted so I didn't need to try and attach it myself with the correct torque. A great buy. 436222

  • Best Trailer Hitch for a 2016 Toyota Sienna
Actually the Draw-Tite # 76112, Curt # C13343, etrailer # e98853, and EcoHitch # 306-X7255 all install so that only the receiver is showing. A lot of people like this look instead of having a thick piece of steel underneath their vehicle as well. You are correct in choosing a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver over a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. The reason being that they are stronger and they are compatible with many more accessories. For your application I...

I take it that you are debating over the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13206 and the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7266 for your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon because the Curt is rated for a higher weight capacity but the EcoHitch has a cleaner look. The thing that you need to remember is that when using your vehicle to tow or carry anything you always have to check the weight of the equipment you are using (trailer hitch) AND the weight rating for your vehicle. The reason being that we have found the Tekonsha electronic equipment to last longer and work better than many other brands. I recommend checking out your copy of the owner's manual to verify this. In your research you basically already discovered the difference between the Draw-Tite # 75122 and the Curt # C13035. the Draw-Tite has a lighter...

  • Comparing the Draw-Tite # 75912 and Curt # C13193 Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Ford Transit T250
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75912 and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13193 are similar trailer hitches as they are both Class III with a 2 inch receiver opening (Draw-Tite is a manufacturer name). For your towing application I recommend going with the Curt option since it has a 900 lb Tongue Weight (TW) rating and a 6,000 lb Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating. This is higher than the 750 lb TW and 5,000 lb GTW rating on the Draw-Tite option. Even though you...

  • Towing Weight Capacities for a 2006 Dodge Charger
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76145 is a confirmed fit for your 2006 Dodge Charger. Although it is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver that has a 4,500 lb Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating and a 675 Tongue Weight (TW) rating, you are wise to look into weight capacities for your vehicle. Most (but not all) of the time a trailer hitch is rated for higher weight ratings than the manufacturer has rated the vehicle for. This is to ensure that you can tow with the...

  • Comparing the Draw-Tite and Curt Trialer Hitches for a 2015 Audi Q7
Aside from the weight ratings of the Draw-Tite # 75950 and Curt # 13220 trailer hitches that fit your 2015 Audi Q7, the Draw-Tite has safety chains loops located directly below the receiver and a welded wiring connector mount while the Curt has safety chain loops that sit to the sides of the receiver and has no mount for a wiring connector. Since both of these trailer hitches exceed the max weight ratings of your Q7 (see page 239 of your owner's manual) the only real advantage that the...

  • Recommended Wiring Harness Kit for Towing with a 2018 Ram ProMaster City
Yes, we do! The wiring kit I recommend purchasing to use with your Draw-Tite # 75219 on your 2018 Ram ProMaster City is the Tekonsha T-One # 118719. This plugs in behind your tail lights and draws power from your battery via the black wire. This bypasses all of the wiring on your ProMaster City so that if anything goes wrong with the wiring on your trailer it won't backfeed into your new vehicle. You also need a ball mount, hitch pin & clip, and a hitch ball to complete your towing...

  • Trailer Towing Setup Recommendation for 2014 Buick Enclave
You are on the right track! The Draw Tite hitch part # 75528 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Buick Enclave as well as the trailer wiring kit # 118270. The wiring mount part # 18144 will also give you a place to mount the 4-way that bolts to the bumper. The ball mount part # C45036 that you referenced is would also work well if you need 2 inch drop. I attached a help article that details how to pick out a ball mount drop as well.
