  • Availability of Curt RockerBall Setup With Longer Shank
The only option that comes from Curt is the # C45WR with the 7-1/2" ball mount length. If you want a longer ball mount you would have to put one together. You could use the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 along with something like the # D-4 which is 10-1/4" long. Make sure to measure so you get the right length. Then you will need to attach the Curt Weld-On Sway Control Tab # C45822.

  • Can Volkswagen Touareg Use Weight Distribution When Towing
You will need to check your owners manual to see what the trailer towing capacity is for your Touareg. Many times the construction of a vehicle will restrict the amount of weight the vehicle can tow. I looked at a 2010 Touareg and the trailer hitch we have that is designed for the 2010 is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13220. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. A technical note states that you cannot use weight distribution with this hitch. You will want...

  • Class III Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6R
For a Class III hitch, I'll typically recommend the Curt product because they do a slightly nicer job on their powder coat finish than Draw-Tite does. Curt offers both a traditionally styled Class III hitch, part # C13206 which would have the entire hitch visible from the rear and a mostly-concealed hitch, part # C13410 which would have the crossbar of the hitch concealed behind the bumper with the only visible portion of the hitch being the receiver tube and the safety chain hoops. The...

  • B&W Tow & Stow Ballmount Needed With An Extra Long Shank
Hey Charles, The Brophy # BH20 has a 13-1/4" from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole, which is a bit more than the B&W Tow & Stow ballmounts have so the closest option is going to be the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10033B. It has a 9-1/4" distance from the center of the first hitch pin hole and 10-3/8" to the center of the rear hitch pin hole. With the 2-5/16" hitch ball your rated for 10k and you'll have a maximum drop of 3"/maximum rise of 3-1/2". This is for a...

  • Installation Procedure for Draw-Tite 75896 Trailer Hitch on 2015 Toyota Highlander
We do indeed have a video showing the installation of the Draw-Tite # DT65MR Class IV hitch on your 2015 Highlander, I've linked you to the install video as well as the installation instructions and an FAQ article with all kinds of installation tips that I hope you'll find helpful. I've looked over the installation instructions, and they seem pretty simple and straightforward. You'll remove some existing appearance panels if they're present, remove the tow hooks from the frame rail, as...

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for Use with a Draw-Tite # 75673 on a 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon
There is not a required ball mount for this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75673. Since you are worried about clearance I would recommend you use a Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, part # D-4. This ball mount has a distance of 10-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the ball hole. You would have plenty of clearance to run this ball mount in the rise position. I attached installation instructions below as well as a review video of this hitch for you to check out.

  • Torque Rating for M12 Hardware on Curt C13143 Hitch Installation on 2015 Lexus RX350
Because the torque ratings can change according to the nature of the hardware that Curt sources, we don't publish the torque ratings in case they should change. I've linked to the current installation instructions for the Curt # C13143, the correct torque ratings are listed on page 5, step # 13. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # 118252 for vehicles with the tow package or # 119250KIT for vehicles without the tow package. You'll also need...

  • Trailer Hitch Fits Recommended for 2013 Subaru Crosstrek
We do indeed offer hitch fit options for the 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. If your Crosstrek is equipped with the knock-out panel in the rear bumper panel, and you'd like a partially concealed hitch that mounts behind the bumper with only the receiver tube and safety chain loops being visible, I'd recommend the EcoHitch # 306-X7203. This hitch only works on Crosstrek models with the bumper knock-out panel. If you'd like a standard, fully visible hitch, I'd recommend the etrailer brand Class...

  • How to Get a Ball Mount with 0 inches of Rise or Drop
In order to get a ball mount that has effectively 0 inches of rise or drop you would need to get a Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, part # D-4, like the one you referenced that has a 2 inch drop, and then use a 2 Inch High Rise Ball, part # C40034. I attached links to FAQ articles on ball mounts and hitch balls below for you to check out also.

  • Trailer Hitch w/ Best Ground Clearance for a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness
According to Curt, the # C67JR Class III hitch is compatible with all models of the 2022 Subaru Outback, including your Wilderness model. I don't have specifics about the departure angle, but as you can see in the photo I provided and the linked installation video, when we installed the # C67JR on a 2021 Outback, the receiver tube butted right up against the underside of the bumper fascia. If you measure down 3 inches from the underside of your bumper fascia, that will be the lowest point...

  • Factors to Consider When Picking Out Length of Ball Mount
I would say the shorter you can go without any turning clearance issues will be the safest and best option. The length of the ball mount doesn't typically play a huge factor in ride quality or anything but we have longer ball mounts for trailers that are wider at the nose of the trailer to help get a little more clearance for turning. In theory a longer ball mount would put more leverage on the hitch in terms of tongue weight but most of the time it's not something that's really noticed...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for 2002 Toyota Highlander
The Plug-N-Tow wiring harness you mentioned, part # 33425 is indeed the correct harness for your 2002 Highlander. The harness is pretty easy to install, using existing connectors located behind the tail light assemblies with an additional wire that is ran to the positive battery terminal. Assuming that you already have a drawbar like part # D-4, Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3, for a 2 inch receiver or # 36051 for a 1-1/4 inch receiver and the appropriate trailer ball for your trailer, you...

  • Should I Use Loctite When Installing a Trailer Hitch on 2011 Ford Explorer
Using LocTite is not required when installing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76034 on your 2011 Ford Explorer, but it would not be a bad idea to use some. I recommend using Loctite Blue Stick Threadlocker, part # LT37643, which you apply to the threads of the bolts. You want to make sure to use a torque wrench and torque down all bolts as specified in the instructions. With a few basic tools you will be able to install the hitch in your driveway. • Will the Curt Class III Hitch for the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Fit with Full Size Spare Tire
Yes, the Curt Class III Hitch, part # 13407, will fit your 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac without removing the factory size spare tire. Spare tires larger than the factory size are not tested with trailer hitches so if your spare is larger than OEM it could prove to be a problem. I have included a link to the installation instructions on the Curt hitch for you to review. I also attached a photo of a similar hitch installed on a Sport Trac with OEM full size spare. • Short Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg
Having a ball mount that is longer should not be an issue. It actually can provide more clearance when turning. The standard for a 2 inch ball mount is around 8 to 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. We currently offer several aluminum ball mounts for 2 inch hitches that have a 2 inch drop. Curt, # C74WR Brophy, # EA20 Fulton # F97CR

  • Comparing Weight of 1-1/4 Inch Receiver to 2 Inch Receiver for 2020 Honda CR-V
For your 2020 Honda CR-V, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # 36597 has a shipping weight of 24 lbs and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13397 has a shipping weight of 30 lbs. Even with a towing capacity of 1,500 lbs. I still recommend using the 2 inch receiver because there are more accessory options and sometimes more cost efficient options using that receiver size. • Differences Between Curt # 13323 and Draw-Tite # 75236 Class III Hitches for 2009 Toyota Tacoma
The Curt # 13323 and the Draw-Tite # 75236 Class III hitches share the same weight capacity and installation procedure. The appearance and design of the two hitches are pretty similar. As far as quality goes, both brands are about equal. Given this, there's no reason why you couldn't go with the less expensive Curt model. • Will There Be Play Between the Ball Mount Shaft and the Hitch
There will be a small amount of play between the shank of the ball mount and the receiver hitch when the ball mount is installed. If you would like to eliminate this play you can use an anti-rattle device like an Anti-Rattle Device for 2 inch Hitches # SR25219. • Troubleshooting 2 Inch Ball Mount that Fits Too Tight In Vehicle Receiver
The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # C45036 sounds like it may have a little too much powder coat or something to cause resistance like you stated. Alternatively it could be the receiver side as well but it seems odd that the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10,000 lbs # BH20 fits if it were the receiver side. • Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use. Technically the tolerance you have is fine but if you want to get rid of it we do have...

  • How to Determine if 2014 Ford Explorer Has Factory Tow Package
The best way to determine if your Explorer is equipped with the tow package is to check with your Ford dealer. They should be able to run the VIN and be able to tell you exactly how the vehicle was equipped. I'm assuming you're needing the information to determine the towing capacity of your Explorer. I ran the provided VIN through a Ford VIN decoder, and found that your particular vehicle has the higher of the 2 listed towing capacities at 5000 lbs which would lead me to believe that...
