Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack In Use

The Yakima HoldUp is a premium, tray-style bike rack that lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. This rack is specifically designed to carry bikes with big tires and wide handlebars, but it will carry just about any bike, including those with wheels from 20" to 29", carbon frames, disc brakes, thru axles, or full suspensions.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Large Front Wheel Holders

The HoldUp is easy to load, even if your bikes have monster wheels. The deep, contoured front wheel cradles accommodate just about any wheel out there, and the pivoting arms with StrongArm technology ensure that your bikes are held firmly in place.

Note: Not recommended for use on bikes with front fenders.

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Ratcheting Arm

To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the holder, rotate the pivoting arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To release the hook, simply press the built-in red button and slide the hook up and off your wheel.

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Adjustable Rear Wheel Cradles

Large rear wheel holders allow the HoldUp to accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. These wheel holders pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to your wheel size - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the ratcheting straps built into each holder.

Yakima HoldUp Ratcheting Arm No Frame Contact

Mounting bikes by the wheels helps prevent any scratches or scuffs to the paint. The ratcheting hooks are padded, however, so they won't mark your wheels. And the pivot mechanisms in the arms are overbuilt to ensure they keep functioning smoothly over a lifetime of hard use.

Fully Adjustability Bike Trays

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Adjustable Bike Trays

The wheel trays on the HoldUp are fully adjustable to ensure that you have all the space you need when mounting bikes with mammoth handlebars, such as a 29er. To adjust a wheel tray, loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the rack base and slide the tray left or right to achieve the desired spacing. Retighten the bolts and you're ready to roll with optimum handlebar clearance and no fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Complete Security

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Built-in Cable Locks

The HoldUp has a cable lock built into the end of each pivoting arm. These cables loop through your bike frames and attach to posts on the bike rack arms to secure your bikes in place. The cables store in the arms when not in use.

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Locking Hitch Pin

The rack also has a HitchLock hitch pin that allows you to lock the rack to your vehicle. The threaded pin also works as an anti-rattle device to reduce noise and movement of the rack when it's mounted in your trailer hitch receiver.

The cable locks and HitchLock hitch pin include keyed-alike Same Key System (SKS) lock cores. These cores can be swapped out to make all your Yakima products keyed alike.

Tilting Design and Compact Storage

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Folded for Storage

The HoldUp stores more compactly than similar platform-style racks, and features a spring-loaded pin at the base that lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle when it's not in use. First rotate the front wheel holders inward and tilt the rear wheel holders inward, then rotate the pivot arms down and use the ratcheting hooks to secure the arms to the rear wheel holders. Once the arms are in place, pull the pin and fold the rack up against your vehicle.

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack Tilted for Rear Cargo Access

The same pin tilts the rack down, while fully loaded, so you can gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area without having to unload your bikes.

Optional 2-Bike Add-On

Yakima 8002443 HoldUp Bike Rack 2 Bike Add-on

There is a 2-bike add-on available (Y02446 - sold separately) for the HoldUp that will allow you convert it from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier. To install the add-on on your HoldUp, simply remove the endcap from the bike rack base, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, and secure the shank with a bolt that comes with the add-on.

Great rack. Great price. Delivered to my door. Enough said.

  • Can the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack Be Used with Step Through Bikes
We have a solution for you either way but the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR may or may not work with your particular step through bikes. There are different styles of step through bikes and depending on how low the step through is, the ratcheting arm on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR may go down low enough to secure the bike or it may be a little short. However, if the ratcheting arm does not go down low enough on your particular bike we do...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Flat Towed 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
The best option for you is the Hollywood Rack RV Rider part # HLY64FR that you referenced. It has the clearance to fit past your Jeep spare, is flat-towed approved, and can be used with all of the bikes you mentioned.

  • Can the Yakima Holdup Fit a 29 inch Bike Wheel
The Yakima Holdup part # Y02443 that you referenced is designed to fit wheels that are between 14 and 29 inches in diameter. There isn't an adapter available to allow the rack to fit larger tires, but you can try deflating the tires a bit to see if you can get them to get small enough to fit the rack.

  • Why Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack Is Not Rated For RVs
Bike carriers that are designed to work on the rear of an RV are made so that they can take the additional stress at the back of the RV. Yakima does not recommend using the HoldUp Rack on RVs because a bike rack mounted on the rear of a motor home will be subject to more shaking and jarring than would be experienced when mounted in the receiver on a passenger vehicle. This is primarily caused by two factors, the distance between the rear axle of the RV and the receiver, and the stiffer...

Thanks so much for your order! It looks like you purchased the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7369. With this particular hitch, we unfortunately do not have the measurements available for the distance of the center of the hitch pinhole to the outside face of the rear bumper of a 2017 model Toyota Prius Prime. With that being said, the Thule T2 Classic # TH9045 will most likely interfere with your rear bumper (when folded up). This is because the measurement...

  • Quality Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation for 4 New Mountain Bikes with Disc Brakes
Another 4 bike rack I would have you consider is the Yakima HoldUp, item # Y02443, along with the Plus 2 Adapter for HoldUp 2 Bike Carrier, 2 inch Hitches, item # Y02446. This rack is a wheel mount style for ease of loading and unloading the bikes and secures the bikes, keeping them from contacting each other or the back of the vehicle. This style is also a good choice for mountain bikes with suspensions because it is it does not compress the frame of the bike and wear the shocks.

To mount a bike rack to the tongue of your R-Pod you will want to start out by using the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers # CC-275. This will give you a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver opening for you to use a bike rack with. From the top of the A-frame of your R-Pod to the top of the cross tube is 33-1/2 inches, which should clear your electric tongue jack, and it has a weight capacity of 100 lbs. The etrailer Trailer Hitch, # e98864, would be an excellent choice for your 2012 Toyota RAV4 and your Yakima Holdup 2 Bike Rack, # Y02433. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest wheel tray on your rack is 12 inches, so you should have no problem when in the bike carrying position. You are definitely on the right track when it comes to not wanting to use an adapter for your bike rack. These auxiliary lights have a 3M backing to mount to the rear of your Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack item # Y02443 and will plug right in to your 4-way connector for power. • Yakima HoldUp2 or Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Recommendation for 2017 Jeep Wrangler
As long as you have the Draw Tite hitch part # DT78MR installed on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler both the Yakima Holdup # Y02443 and the Kuat Sherpa # SH22G could fold up and clear spare due to the longer hitch tube this has. Now both racks are really nice and I know you'd be happy overall with either, but the big advantage the Kuat has over the Yakima is weight which is why that's what I would recommend. The Yakima weighs 49 lbs and the Kuat weighs 32 which is a sizable difference. Since they...

  • Can Bike With Long Handlebars Allow LiftGate To Open With Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier
As you said, the video of the Yakima HoldUp, part # Y02443 on a 2017 Sportage shows a bike with 9-inches from the center of the handlebar stem to the outside of the handlebar. In the video there is only a couple of inches clearance when the rear liftgate is opened. This would place the end of the handlebar further away from the back of the vehicle.
