Features to know about

Built for a Clean Front End: Hidden Bracket Design with Removable Arms

When you’re not towing, this setup keeps things looking stock. The brackets mount to the frame and sit inside the grille, so nothing hangs below the bumper. Once the drawbars are removed, the remaining mounts are almost invisible and protected from scrapes or scuffs. It’s a clean, low-profile look that leaves your front end free of bulky hardware.

Quick Hookup Every Time: EZ Twistlock Mounting System

Connecting is fast and simple thanks to Roadmaster’s Twistlock design. Just slide the drawbars into the brackets, twist to lock them in place, and you’re ready to tow—no pins or clips required. To disconnect, twist again and pull them out. The smooth motion makes it easy to line up and go, even when you’re working solo.

Strong Where It Counts: Computer-Cut, All-Steel Construction

This setup is built from computer-cut steel for precise fitment and long-term strength. It mounts directly to the vehicle frame to evenly distribute towing forces through sturdy welds and reinforced bracket arms. The black powder coat finish resists corrosion and keeps the metal protected mile after mile.

Ready for the Long Haul: Compatible with All Roadmaster Tow Bars

No need to replace your existing gear—the EZ Base Plate Kit works with all Roadmaster tow bars when used with standard quick disconnects like part # RM-201. The design also accepts optional adapters if you want to connect other brands of tow bars later on. It’s a flexible system that can evolve with your setup over time.

DIY-Ready Setup: Bolt-On Installation with Clear Instructions

No welding required here—just a straightforward bolt-on job using standard tools. The kit includes complete mounting hardware and detailed instructions so you can handle it in your own garage. Once installed, the brackets stay put, and you can pop the removable arms in or out whenever you’re ready to tow or park.

first class company etrailer!Purchased base plate on 8/21 and it was delivered on 8/26 at 1:00PM; by 2:30PM installation was complete! This is a simple installation and the 521190-1 matched my Honda Fit Sport 2009 perfectly. "Life is Good"!!

by:

This product is a poor fit for my 2012 Honda Fit. The holes along the side which go into the frame rails are a few millimeters too far forward. Better-positioned holes would have saved me a couple hours of frustration.

eTrailer was great, shipped promptly, and for free!

Exact products I needed to outfit my new Honda toad. Super fast, free shipping. Great instructions and how-to videos.

Prompt Delivery!! Incredible packaging with no chance of any damages.

The instructions were great and total install took just over 2 hours.

Thanks again!!

Honestly, since installation the use of the tow bar has become an automatic. To say I have not given it a single thought is the case. Simply stated it works as expected. Thanks for a great product!!

by:

Great experience!! Etrailer folks were very helpfull answering all my questions with good knowledge of their products. The tow bracket shipped out and was delivered on time as promised. This Roadmaster bracket fit perfectly. I'll continue to do business with etrailer.com

by:

This was a great kit to work with. Instructions made it simple. It took longer to put the car back together than to put the base on.
I would highly recommend this product . I am a 74 year old women and I tow my 2010 Honda Fit with ease. Buying this product thru E trailer really saved me a lot of money with their free shipping. Juanita did a great job helping me order it. I will return here again if I ever need anything more.

by:

I already had the tow-bar and only needed the hardware on the toad side. Cathy was very helpful and quickly determined the needed parts. etrailer offered free shipping and a few days later I received the shipment.

Sequence of events can aid in easier installation.

1. Problem: I found threading the bolts into the weld nuts that are located on the bars that slide into the frame was very difficult.
Solution: I took off the baseplate and chased the threads with a 1/2 - 13 tap to clear out the powder coat paint and the bolt easily threaded in by hand.

2. Problem: When I tried to get the base plate bolted on, I did the front facing bolts first then tried to align the slide in 3/4" bolts next. I couldn't get them in. I read a review where someone had to grind the frame to get the slide bolts to align. There had to be a better way without modification.
Solution: When the front cowell has been removed and the baseplate is hand held in position on the FIT, thread the 3/4" head bolts into the slide in brackets BEFORE putting the 12 mm bolts into the brackets that face forward. In my case the bolts went in without any difficulty. If you follow my suggestion you too can avoid grinding.

The etrailer video instructions to install the base plate was very helpful and enabled easy installation.
Shipment was within 48 hours of order
Would use etrailer again.

I have used Roadmaster hitches and baseplates on several vehicles over the years. The purchase experience with E-Trailer has consistently been excellent. The baseplate is high quality, easy to install, and an excellent fit!
Thanks!!

by:

I like the Roadmaster tow bars but I am 2 for 2 with fitment issues. The one bolt hole did not line up with the frame, after trying to adjust and take measurements for an hour, I had to grind about an eighth of an inch on the frame hole. This issue doubled the installation time. Had a similar issue with my Miata tow bar 7 years ago, but had to enlarge hole on tow bar. The etrailer video was excellent and this would have been a simple install if the tow bar fit.

by:

Base Plate went in without any problem. The on-line video helped tremendously especially when removing the plastic bumper. A little more information could have been prided on disconnecting the fog lights on the Sports model of the Honda Fit. But I was able to take out a few more screws and get access to the plugs. The base plate is barely visible and I love the twist and lock feature on the base plate. Much better than the old pins and clevis on older base plates.

by:

Tow Bar System is obviously part of a full set of kits that are installed in out Honda Fit and towed. I installed the system and fit great. No complaints and it’s easy and quick to hook up each time and works as it should.

by:

Prepared my vehicle for the base plate. The base plate has a manufacturing defect in that the crossbar is approximately.375 inches short. The hole pattern matched on one side but the other side would not line up with the vehicle holes. The mounting plate overlapped the mounting holes by 1/3rd. Clearly, the assembly was short. I find my disassembled vehicle sitting for a week waiting for the replacement to arrive. Hopefully, Roadmaster QC did a better job on the new base plate assembly that I am waiting for.

by:

I recently ordered a flat tow base plate for a 2011 Honda Fit. I need to review that product too. It was a pain getting it mounted as the bracket didn't quiet fit as it was supposed to. But that is Roadmaster's fault and not yours. I will contact them to complain.

Thanks for the followup!

by:

The Roadmaster EZ Base Plate for my Honda Fit is very heavy duty - well built. The on line Video and the included instructions were excellent. I did encounter one problem during the installation - 2 holes in the mounting plate on the passenger side did not quite line up. I had to enlarge the 2 holes about 1/8 inch toward the outside of the car to make it work. The receivers fit nicely through the grill with no adjustment to the grill.

by:

I was having problems with the bracket that was on the car when I bought it and when it no longer felt safe to me, I looked on your website for a replacement. Lo and behold, this product appeared to be better designed and an easier installation. Putting 8t on today proved that. I am very happy with the product and your service. Thank you very much!

I did purchase this base plate for my Honda Fit that I flat tow behind my motor home, the product was installed as shown with absolutely no issues, and I continue to tow my Honda regularly, I would consider a great investment and well worth the money I spent.

I have made purchases for two different vehicles. Both were used for four wheel down towing. Each time etrailer gave me correct information on the products and promptly shipped and delivered them. Best of all they fit correctly and no surprises. I will use them again.

@William That is great to hear that the installation went smoothly for you. That tends to be my least favorite part! What is your flat tow setup looking like?

by:

The installation on this was surprisingly quick on my 2011 Fit (base/non-sport version). Everything fit well (no pun intended).

A few minor changes over the video as my car was slightly different:
- I didn't have to trim anything on the air dam -- the tubes lined up perfectly with the slots on my grill.
- There was a in the wheel on each side where the plastic bumper meets the steel body panel. I didn't realize they were there (they're hidden somewhat) so I ended up cracking the hole this screw was in, but everything came back together nice and tight anyway.

by:

Very happy with this product. Installation was pretty easy. I see no reason to pay someone to install this. True you have to take the bumper off and a large metal support beam but it was pretty easy. You just have to take it slow and not get frustrated. The bumper on the Honda Fit is held on with a gazillion little plastic clips and snap joints. Everything fits tight on a Honda so you have to be patient. My only complaint is they don't give you the exact torque settings. I had to consult a shop manual to get the correct torque values. They give a table at the end of the instructions that gives common torque values for various bolt sizes. I thought that was lame they could have given the correct value from the shop manual. Certainly not enough to lower my rating. This bar is awesome and when the drawbars are removed the base plate is almost completely hidden. My wife wanted nothing to show on the front of the car. She was very pleased with it.

In the picture attached the bar is almost completely hidden. All you see are two small black circles. It takes about 2 seconds to mount the drawbars, just twist and go. VERY sturdy. I tow my Honda behind the motorhome with confidence.

by:

Seems like a very well-made sturdy product. Instructions were good however the holes did not quite lineup like they were supposed to so I had to do some mild to moderate modification. I like the way it looks without the towbar on the base plate. It’s fairly well hidden.

by:

The baseplate fit perfectly and the video was very helpful

Since you mentioned you have “the bar that the Falcon 2 hooks to” that tells me your current setup on the Geo Metro is using a Roadmaster crossbar-style base plate.
