To flat tow your 2011 Honda Fit you will need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking.

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX2253, will fit your Honda Fit, but since you already have the RoadMaster Sterling tow bar, I would recommend the RoadMaster EZ Base Plate Kit, part # 521190-1. The RoadMaster base plate kit will install a little easier and it will not need any adapters to attach the base plates to your RoadMaster tow bar. I am including a link to a video of the RoadMaster base plates being installed on a 2011 Honda Fit.

The Roadmaster Sterling tow bar will include the safety cables, electrical wiring, and the quick disconnects. If you need the quick disconnects and support cross bar you would order the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect Tow Bar Base Assembly, part # 910021-00.

Since the tow bar already has the safety cables, you will just need the lighting for your Honda Fit and a supplemental braking system that most states are now requiring when flat towing.

For lighting, if you are not planning on towing the Honda Fit frequently, you might want to consider a magnetic mount system, like part # TL21RK. A magnetic mount system has the benefit of being very easy to install. It also will remain completely independent of the wiring system of the Honda.

A more permanent wiring solution would be a Tail Light Isolating Diode Kit, part # 38955. A diode system offers plug-in-and-go convenience once installed. I am including a link to an install video for this kit.

Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest to set up and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake, part # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. This reduces wear and tear on both vehicles and is the safest way to stop.

I am including a link to a series of FAQ articles on flat towing your vehicle.

You will also want to read your owners manual or check with Honda regarding any other guidelines or modifications necessary so that the vehicle can be safely flat towed. Some vehicles require modifications such as a drive line disconnect, transmission lube pump, freewheeling hubs or axle disconnects.
